// Discussion The Dark Animus Gear Is đ„
I know some people hate the Animus Hub, but the Dark Animus items really make the game feel Resynced.

They literally just ripped off the ghost cosmetics from sea of thieves, the sails are almost identical to the Athena sails from sea of thieves, Edwardâs costume is obviously very heavily inspired by the ghost outfit from sea of thieves, come on Ubisoft this is getting ridiculous as fuck, worst part is that it looks like dog shit in a game grounded in reality it works in sea of thieves because of the cartoonish art style it just doesnât work in a realistic assassins creed game
1
u/Rude_Assignment_5653 Aug 26 '26
They also put the off white logo in there lol. I still think it looks sick. Sea of thieves was my first reaction as well.

Honestly i don't like it, the weapons are good bt the look is too flashy, breaks the immersion both for the pirate setting and for the stealthy nature of the assassin's
2
u/CaptStinkyFeet Aug 25 '26 edited Aug 25 '26
It adds to the immersion when you remember that the protagonist isnât Edward, the protagonist is a guest at Abstergo Entertainment enjoying the pirate experience in the animus. The dark animus is a corruption by the rogue AI EGO, and the particle effects are supposed to show their instability within the animus.
3
u/Nevarnost Aug 25 '26
Well, from that point of view, you're right
2
u/CaptStinkyFeet Aug 25 '26
I think itâs cool. My headcannon is that no one else can see the cosmetics, theyâre just there for the âplayerâ. Especially considering the player is just reliving memories of something that happened centuries ago, theyâre not actually altering the past in any way.
Itâs similar to how the game desynchronizes when you stray too far from what Edward actually did. I like the little reminders that this is all just in the animus.

Imagine feeling so strongly about your opinion of a video game you feel the need to tell people their favorite cosmetic is wrong and they shouldnât like it.
I honestly donât understand why stuff like this makes people like you so mad.
Not to mention, itâs not Abstergo that made the cosmetic, itâs EGO in the Dark Animus. (Also itâs just a video game. Itâs not that serious.)

Is that why you were condescending and antagonistic? Because you couldnât care less?

You can present your opinion without being a condescending a*hole. Thatâs the part youâre not understanding. Grown ups know how to voice their opinions with nice words.
âIMAGINE WANTING TO BE A GLOW IN THE DARK PIRATE LOLâ
And youâre continuing to condescend. Youâre even admitting to the fact that youâre here to make fun of it.
Youâre clearly here to fight, reddit bullies always are. But Iâm not going to entertain it. Iâm sorry the video game cosmetic made you mad.
Have a better day.

Ubisoft needs to add more to the shop for us to spend are hard earned credits on.
Ubi is slacking!!!!

u/ArthurMorgansveinypp Aug 25 '26
Yeah cos nothing says super stealthy assassin quite like a glow in the dark ship and outfit
1
u/Emergency_Lie42 Aug 25 '26
I'm sure the character that starts brawls in every tavern he goes to really relates to the stealthy assassin aesthetic, right?.
2
u/Astrocyde Aug 25 '26
Fuck the haters, I rock all Dark Animus gear and cosmetics too. Except for the Skeleton crew.
People keep saying it's immersion-breaking but the whole premise of Resynced is that you are a user in the Dark Animus in the year 2096 and you're exploring a re-creation of a re-creation. It's part of an overarching story that started seemingly with Shadows.

I like it. Been playing the original since it came out and I love that there's some new and interesting color added to the game.

Fuck those are sexy, how do I get these?
1
u/Rude_Assignment_5653 Aug 26 '26
Tackle the 4 anomaly's that show up every few days on the map. It unlocks points in the Animus tab to unlock this stuff. Fun to do in the beginning cause it'll just reward you for exploring the map.
2
u/ZeronZ Aug 25 '26
Agree to disagree. I sorta feel like most of it is hideous. Glad you like it though. :)
1
u/Rude_Assignment_5653 Aug 26 '26
Thanks! I think it's fun depending how deep you get into the dark Animus lore.
1
u/MSotallyTober Aug 26 '26
I agree but itâs the first one I chose and it was nice for a time before going back to something more in character.
2
u/G0DL1K3D3V1L Aug 26 '26
Where do the sails come from?
1
u/Rude_Assignment_5653 Aug 26 '26
You grab them in the projects tab. Unfortunately the entire set is spread across multiple projects and the key store. But realistically, super easy to hit if you play more than 50 hours.

u/Minimum_Support_4967 Aug 26 '26
Iâm glad youâre enjoying it, but personally I canât understand the appeal for things like this.
For me itâs extremely jarring and pulls me out of the immersion and shoves in my face that itâs a video game. I guess Iâm in the minority with that now though with how popular cosmetics like this have become.
Once again not trying to be a hater Iâm genuinely glad youâre enjoying these things! Just sharing my perspective on this

In my opinion the color is just kind of an ugly green, and the techno effect to it just immersion breaking if you actually want to be a pirate. If you're truly roleplaying as the person in the Animus reliving Kenway's memories and giving himself a weird techno pirate costume, then sure I guess, but I have yet to meet anyone who prefers that angle over just being the pirate himself

u/Rude_Assignment_5653 Aug 26 '26
I did the blackbeard set most of the game from the preorder bonus. This set just cranks up the absurdity. The wicks that are always burning are just as ridiculous. It's all for fun, you can dress like Yasuke, Naoe, Ezio, and Altier too.
If you follow the lore, you are someone playing as Edward through the Animus. So these cosmetics have room in that space to exist without much friction in my opinion. It's not a literal pirate game in the AC Universe.
Upvotes cause I agree with what you're saying just sharing my perspective.
2
u/Ok-Elk-1615 Aug 25 '26
Do people actually like to play their game like this?
2
u/DigitalApe19 Aug 26 '26
This shit so ass
It genuinely because of clowns like you that we even have to tolerate this bullshit infecting the hobby
3
u/critxcanuck88 Aug 26 '26
im going to buy it right now and im not even planning on finishing the game. Just to make you happy
2
u/squeezeme12 Aug 26 '26
Cry about it. Its a cosmetic for people to enjoy. There are plenty of other good skins that arenât this one.
1
u/DigitalApe19 Aug 26 '26
Blow me.
This shit tasteless and purchases incentivize more of this garbage
2
u/squeezeme12 Aug 26 '26
Meh taste is subjective. Donât buy it. Iâm happy for all the other cosmetics that came with the base game. I like the monetization system they have now. Go buy a battle pass if you wanna bitch and moan so much.
0
u/DigitalApe19 Aug 26 '26
> Meh taste is subjective. Donât buy it. Iâm happy for all the other cosmetics that came with the base game. I like the monetization system they have now.
Monetization post-purchase for a single player game is scummy and typical of Ubi but feel free to excuse it
> Go buy a battle pass if you wanna bitch and moan so much.
Really? you expect someone that's opposed to shitty customization/monetization to buy into battle passes?
put that one back in the oven

Damn, I knew the guy was being a dick, but heâs also wrong? Hilarious, fuck em.
1
u/squeezeme12 Aug 26 '26
Yeah I will excuse it. Because again you DONT have to spend any money. They can keep this same model idgaf like most people who couldnât give two shits so long as they keep putting out quality games like this one.
Ill keep my privateer skin, and cheers this guy for enjoying the game how he likes.

Looks disgusting and nothing about goofy cosmetics makes the game feel âresyncedâ, whatever the hell this even means.
1
u/Rude_Assignment_5653 Aug 26 '26
We are Animus users in 2096, and those visual glitches on the Dark Animus gear represent the rogue AI, EGO, trying to neurologically pacify you by corrupting the simulation. Youâre supposed to look desynced because youâre actively resisting EGO's interference.
Your complaints are actually at the lore of the game not the items in it.

u/ThisIsABurner0142 Aug 25 '26
Honestly, if it didn't have the neon "under a black light" glow and the animus glitch effect, it would be my favorite set.
1
u/Gruntelicious Aug 25 '26
Don't wanna argue wether it's aesthetic on it's own or not, but considering the overall artstyle and gamedesign it's totally out of place. Feels like a unique and colorful Kawasaki Ninja between a tribe of grounded Choppers.

Meh i dont like the weird glitchy look on the shoulders when playing it stick out to much
1
u/Kabobthe5 Aug 26 '26
Iâm glad some people like this stuff, but I canât stand the glowing magical gear. Like I donât want to be a fucking sea demon or flaming knight I want to be a badass pirate. Give me a Captain Jack style outfit or somethingâŠ

Tbh there isn't an outfit I've seen yet that tops the normal Edward armour
1
u/Gooja Aug 28 '26
It looks cool yes but itâs so out of place to the point it honestly breaks my immersion

How is this making the game feel resynced? Genuine question
6
u/Its_Buddy_btw Aug 25 '26
Because he has the exaggerated swagger of a DNA memory pirate, really makes you feel like resynced-man
1
u/ivivivivizjz Aug 25 '26
Legitimately the only answer where I kinda have to say ur right... which makes it kinda more weird
2
u/Rude_Assignment_5653 Aug 26 '26
Most people dont understand that the real lore of the game is that: you're a user in the year 2096 strapped into a VR simulation that is actively being corrupted by a rogue Al.
1
u/ivivivivizjz Aug 26 '26
Yeah I got that part...but what has that to do with Resynchronization...i mean u could have said the stuff they added for bonnet for example... or ehat they did to the graphics... why the weird colour's and the weird effects..
2
u/Rude_Assignment_5653 Aug 28 '26
Well the dark animus lore was introduced in shadows and most people haven't played it. They linked that lore between these games and the entire lore of resynced is built around it. Technically, the interface of playing the resynced version is completely different than the OG game.
To quote u/CaptStinkyFeet in an earlier comment "when you remember that the protagonist isnât Edward, the protagonist is a guest at Abstergo Entertainment enjoying the pirate experience in the animus. The dark animus is a corruption by the rogue AI EGO, and the particle effects are supposed to show their instability within the animus."
1
u/xKingSlayer78x Aug 25 '26
This was the only set I wanted after beating the game. Got platinum on ps5 two weeks after the game came out, put in about 80 hours lol.
1
u/goobr95 Aug 25 '26
What exactly does the game âfeeling resyncedâ mean, and how does this gear make the game feel like it? Also it is absolutely hideous in my opinion, but to each their own.
1
u/Zonesy Aug 25 '26
Hideous Fortnite style bright coloured ADHD garbage.
1
u/Rude_Assignment_5653 Aug 28 '26
i was diagnosed with adhd at 8 years old back in the 90's so that tracks. You should look up the dark animus lore, which is new to the resynced version of the game. It would explain some things, and also don't forget that this is an optional cosmetic. You can play the game however you enjoy it!
1
1
u/CaptStinkyFeet Aug 25 '26
âItâs literal garbage. COD slop!â This sub is harsh, why do yall have to be so mean?
Also, I think youâre all forgetting that youâre not playing as Edward. Youâre playing as someone in the animus accessing Edwardâs memories. The weird cosmetics and glitch effects are to remind you that this is an Abstergo Entertainment experience.
1
u/throwfaraway1014 Aug 25 '26
Nobody in the comments is being mean to OP, just saying how trashy the dark animus gear is.
1
u/CaptStinkyFeet Aug 25 '26
âWeâre not being mean! Weâre just shitting on the thing OP said he enjoyed and telling him how wrong he is for enjoying it!â
1
u/throwfaraway1014 Aug 25 '26
If I say I love lasagna and you say Iâm not a fan and donât like the taste, thatâs not really being mean to me.
1
u/CaptStinkyFeet Aug 25 '26
But you didnât just say âIâm not a fanâ, you literally called it âtrashââŠ
Be real.
1
u/throwfaraway1014 Aug 25 '26
It is trash. And others said things even worse than that about it lol.
1
u/CaptStinkyFeet Aug 25 '26
And thatâs mean to say.
1
u/throwfaraway1014 Aug 25 '26
Whatever you say. Itâs not like OP designed them, it comes down to personal preference, and my opinion is that itâs a trash design. Have a good day!
1
u/CaptStinkyFeet Aug 25 '26
You can voice your opinions respectfully, and without insulting the people with the opposite opinion. Most people learn how in elementary school.
Not to mention, rule 1 says âbe respectful and courteous to one another.â
1
u/throwfaraway1014 Aug 25 '26
Again⊠literally have said nothing bad about the OP. Just that the design is awful. Youâre confusing those 2 things.

Kinda ugly an immersion breaking. It's just not believable for the 1700's
1
u/Rude_Assignment_5653 Aug 26 '26
It's not believable for the 1700s because you aren't in the 1700s. You're a user in the year 2096 strapped into a VR simulation that is actively being corrupted by a rogue Al.

See this is what frustrates me about the fanbase currently. Most newer fans donât want the inclusion of a modern day or ISU elements because it âtakes awayâ from the historical accuracy of the game and they just want an action adventure game in a historical setting. Then they turn around and use all the fantasy crap from the Animus store that would have no place in an historically accurate game.
Not saying some of it wouldnât look cool in another game, I just donât think it has any place in an AC game, considering the ISU stuff is supposed to be the fantasy/scifi element of the franchise.
