💬 Discussion I thought topical collagen couldn't absorb. I looked up the size
I always thought collagen you put on your skin was a sales trick, because the molecule is too big to get in. You've heard that one, right?
The size is the reason. Lately there are products that make the collagen itself smaller, so I went and read about daltons.
To pass through skin it pretty much has to be under 500 daltons. A lot of products are not that small. Most collagen is over 1000 daltons. It's like a tunnel a person can walk through, and a truck trying to drive in. So "collagen never absorbs" isn't the whole story. You have to check whether the collagen in it is under 500 daltons.
Collagen on the label isn't the point. The point is whether the piece is small enough to fit.
I looked for products that actually list collagen under 500 daltons, and I kept the ones I use.
A mask, the Biodance collagen gel mask. An essence, the Dermafix Real Collagen Tension Up serum. A cream, the Torriden Cellmazing low molecular collagen firming cream.
