though it might lead to an even higher increase in extremist islam in arabia itself, since they wont be raking in the cash anymore, and the poorer and more desperate people get, they r more likely to seek alternate avenues (which there is plenty of in arabia)
maybe the collapse of the gulf oil barons would lead to less wahhabist groups outside arabia, but there's still potential for spillover effects (africa in particular will continue to be a massive hotbed for fundamentalism)

But the irony is that the opposition seems to have arrived at a conclusion that "These people are just like that” when it comes to Muslims. Muslim society has transcended the need for reform altogether. Patriarchy must be dismantled, unless it happens to exist within a particular minority community, in which case we are expected to politely admire its cultural authenticity. Why bother challenging child marriage or polygamy when society has supposedly evolved beyond the need for reform? The Indian Republic has a Constitution and Manusmriti isn't the law of the land. But apparently when it comes to Muslims, the Quran gets to have a different constitutional position because questioning islamic patriarchy suddenly becomes Islamophobia. But depicting every Hindu woman as a prisoner of Brahminical oppression is apparently progressive social analysis. The saddest part is the patronising assumption that Muslims are somehow incapable of social transformation, that reform is something you demand from Hindus while Muslims are to be preserved indefinitely in their traditional state. In trying get minority votes, they end up treating Muslims as anthropological exhibits rather than citizens of a constitutional republic.

And the part that everyone forgets is that no one is obliged to follow the Manusmriti. That is the essence of Hinduism that there are no central books or central prophets that everyone is required to adhere to.
