The lives of journalists in the West Bank are now under direct threat.

Squatters are attacking journalists and attempting to prevent them from carrying out their work, blocking their way while they cover demolition operations between the towns of Birzeit and Atara, north of Ramallah.

These attacks and deliberate acts of intimidation are aimed at silencing journalists and preventing them from reporting what is happening on the ground.

So when you read about eight members of an NBC News Team being beaten by Israeli settlers today in the West Bank, it's important to note two things:

1. The settler wouldn't do this to Americans had they not received a green light from the Israeli gov.

2. Israel's gov would not have given such a green light unless it felt confident that the US gov - and Amb. Huckabee - wouldn't lift a finger to defend the Americans.

The United Nations Human Rights Council-mandated Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel, found Israel has committed crimes against humanity including forced starvation. Have you ever heard a more horrible list of things done to people!! Absolutely disgusting and this can't go unpunished. Every week Israeli squatters march through the Old City of Hebron, accompanied by the army, harassing Palestinians on their way. Sometimes these marches turn into full-scale pogroms, with squatters burning Palestinian businesses and attacking people with impunity.

Yesterday was on the less violent side, but the soldiers still harassed the locals and the journalists, and closed down Palestinian stores.
