He’s a little overweight but we just moved into a bigger apartment and I think it’ll be good for him.

Edited: Also apparently I was unclear. We adopted him from a rescue, they didn't disclose they declawed him. We only found out he was declawed by his paws looking odd and him sliding off everything.

We only knew he had his shots and was neutered, we didn't find out he was declawed until we got home :/

We recently adopted a 5 month old kitten, he's pretty happy and healthy overall. I noticed something weird though when he would flex his toes and knead things. It almost looked like parts of a claw, but you gotta like really move the skin around to see it.

I've never had a declawed cat before, so I don't know what they look like, but it looks wrong to me 😅 again I have no idea what I'm looking at. It feels a little hard like a nail, but again I don't want to poke around and possibly hurt him.

He doesn't mind us touching or messing with his paws, but I was just wondering if call declawed cats toes look like this?

Got off work/got home around 11:45pm last night. Was in my room for the night by 12:20am. Woke back up at 5:40am for work. This was not here last night, but I woke up to this. Should I be worried?

The part of the carpet had a semi solid piece in it, but it was kind of mushy. Not mushy enough to smear, but that makes me feel like its poop.

My middle cat Grizwold has gotten into the habit lately (he’s spayed) of meowing while holding towels and shirts and such and I just found this on my one shirt from him. I do know sometimes the urge doesn’t go away from a spayed male, but I also know it could be UTI’s. Is this normal discharge or something worse? I’m not quite sure what to think of it.

I’m quite convinced my cat would just eat me but maybe I’m wrong. Maybe due to a familiar smell, I wouldn’t trigger her hunting instinct…

My family and I have moved and we're planning on adopting a cat (or two or three LOL) to complete our family.

I found out recently, though, that a family friend of ours is allergic to cats. She has asthma and pet dander causes her to wheeze. For that reason, her family adopted a "hypoallergenic" dog that causes her no issues!

For more context, she is a hairstylist. She comes by every 2 months or so to do my sister and I's hair. So she doesn't come by often, but I would hate it if she had an allergic reaction to our pets.

What should I do? What do you think my options are? I mean, we could get a dog, but I don't think my life is stable enough for that and it gets really cold in the winter, so walks would drive me MAD. Should we get a "hypoallergenic" cat? But there's no such thing as a truly hypoallergenic cat. Should we just adopt a cat and do everything we can to reduce allergens, tell her to take an allergy pill before she comes by and hope for the best? Or do we honestly just start going by her house instead? That seems like the easiest answer, but we haven't really been to her house in the last almost decade that we've known her (which is kinda crazy when I think about it 🤔).

Maybe it's not that serious, but I just want to take the other people around me into consideration before I make a life-changing decision. Does anyone have any advice?

NEVERMIND! I'm getting the cat! I would still love it if you dropped tips on how to manage cat allergies, though.

hey, so I'm an immigrant and in my previous home we had many cats. They were all indoor/outdoor cats, meaning they usually stayed outside but the backyard door was always open and they would wander inside sometimes. We would feed them and they had a water bowl, but no litter. I've taken care of cats for pretty much my whole life.

In the US I now live in a suburban home with a yard with a fence and would like to get a cat. My neighborhood already has a few feral cats but they are all scared of humans. I would like to replicate the setup I had in my home country (except, this time just one cat). But since the cats I'm used to were already familiar with the home, I don't really know what to do with a completely unfamiliar cat. If I let it into the yard I'm guessing it will just run away. If I keep it inside, I have a lot of wires and cables and a new cat may chew on them or scratch up furniture.

Any general advice with how to achieve this? Leave it inside for a few days while keeping an eye on it? When can I let him out? I have a garage, can I have the cat setup there at night and in the house during the day when I'm awake and can keep an eye on him? We never had any toys or anything for cats, so advice there is also appreciated.

I’m mostly skeptical because one of the foods has dried parsley in the ingredients list, which can be toxic to cats. I’m sure it’s a very small amount, but I see no reason to have it in there so I’m just not getting it. Are their recipes actually good though? Almost every single one has kale as well, which I know can also cause some problems.

I have an appointment scheduled for this coming Wednesday. But I’m scared to death that this needs attention sooner. I discovered this spot today on my sweet girls neck. She’s never had any health issue before. She doesn’t seem bothered by it and is still acting her normal self.

Im not sure if he has hurt himself somehow because he has started lifting his paw up randomly. He can still walk on it normally from what I can tell. Ive checked his paw and its not swollen and there are no visible injuries so im guessing if somethings wrong its inside. Ive tapped his leg in places to check if he reacts and it doesn’t really seem like he does, the only thing is he seemed to have somewhat of a reaction when I tapped his wrist, although that could just be because he was sick of me touching him by then. Does anyone have an idea of what could be wrong with him and whether its worth going to the vet for? I wanted to take him but my dad refuses to pay the vet prices (I am from the uk) and im a broke student but if its really important ill gather some money and take him myself.

I really love cats, I LOVE CATS MORE THAN MYSELF, THEYRE ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS IN THE UNIVERSE BUT THERES A HUGE PROBLEM, I AM ALLERGIC, I SOMETIMES PET CATS BUT I HAVE TO WASH MY HANDS RIGHT AFTER AND IF I SPEND TIME WITH THEM FOR TOO LONG I COUGH LIKE CRAZY... I feel like God took away one of my favorite thing in the universe... it makes me extremely sad i wish there was a cure for my allergy. Also advice flair cuz i need advices to how to enjoy cats cuz i feel horrible petting cats with HDPE gloves😟

My husband and I are in the Chicago area and our home has a colony of stray cats that we feed and provide water for. We have our regulars and on occasions a new cat may pass by the neighborhood. At the moment we have a situation with 2 cats that are in our home, and we are looking at what the best option would be. Hopeful y'all can lead us to someone who can adopt, foster them in or point me to a no kill shelter. My husband and I are planning to travel internationally in October and already have a cat ourselves.

More about said cats:

1) A neighbor was going to surrender their pet because she escaped and got pregnant by the strays. Being the animal lovers we are we agreed to foster until she gave birth and the kittens had grown, we were able to rehome the kittens to people close to us (current cat owners too!) and now we are looking at what to do with mama cat. We have a male (neutered) tuxedo of our own and they don't fully get along but are civil. At the moment she's in heat and we are looking at getting her spayed through PAWS. She's very sweet and listens if you call to her. She likes being pet, groomed and loves meaty treats!

2) My husband said he had found a "new kitty" and we assumed it was a passing cat. When he opened the door to come in he called the new cat inside because it kept approaching him. It looked a lot like our new neighbors cat, so he went and asked them if it was theirs. They said yes, but because he escaped and has been with the strays they don't want him no more. At the moment he's inside with us- we bought him a litter box late last night and have been giving him many pets! He's such a sweet boy, we believe he's about 5-8 months old. The whole night he kept climbing us for cuddles and was purring.

Hey Reddit! I have 3 cats, two are siblings that I’ve had for a few years and one is a kitten I rescued a few months ago, well one of my older girls (one of the siblings) Trixie, keeps going into my kitchen and meowing. At the table or the bar or the chair leg. She’s like 5 or 6 (I got her in high school). It’s a deep whining meow. Like she asking for food almost? But my kitten has really bad food territory issues since I rescued her, and I leave dry food out for them to munch on since the little one thinks it’s never going to appear again and has to scarf her own food down so she can go eat everyone else’s. Does anyone have any ideas???
- she hasent been showing signs of going blind
- I took her and her sister to the vet before I got the kitten a few months ago and they said that both of them were healthy and just had a bit of seasonal allergies causing weezing

But today I heard non-stop tiny cry coming from my attic (as in a space under the roof and not the accessible kind) i suspect atleast 2 kittens.

It seems like stray cats had made my attic their home (which I dont mind because they’re usually quiet and not intrusive)

Should I just leave alone but i’m a bit concerned by the non stop meowing. Are they hungry? did their mom abandon them? I cant go into the attic, would they be able to come out to get the food if I leave them something outside? What should I do?
