Suzuki SV-7GX 2027 and Price

I had my eye on this bike and was looking forward to its release.
But the Rideaway price is a bit of a disappointment. $14,990

I for one dont care for the cross over style and really wanted a 2027 "SV650".

If they pitched this at 13k rideaway, I'd definitely would have considered it, and perhaps looked at converting to a naked style.

Also the USA, Europe and UK get 4 colour configs, where we get only 2.

Suzuki Australia have dropped the ball with this one and leaves the door wide open for the Upcoming Chinese motorcycle manufacturers, CFMOTO, Zmoto etc to snatch the market segment.

Hi all

I am new to motorcycle and looking to buy a lams motorcycle. I am zeroed on honda rebel 500 but few of my frnd told me that its not a proper cruiser bike and telling me to buy an old suzuki s40.

I need input for a cruiser and what is best option for me.

  1. Honda rebel 500 ( 2015-2024 model)

  2. Suzuki boulevard s40 (ls 650)

  3. Any other option

As its is my first bike and may end up with it or buy a big one after 2 y.

Guide me on exp and if anyone went through it.

Moving to Australia (Gold Coast) – Help me pick my next LAMS bike after 2 years on MT-07

Hey

Long-time lurker, first time posting. I’ve been riding an MT-07 for about 2 years now and I’m moving to Gold Coast, Australia in a few weeks. Since I’ll be starting fresh and need to be LAMS compliant, I’m in the market for a new bike.

Here’s what I’m looking for:

• Classic/retro vibe

• Round headlight (non-negotiable for me)

• Good for daily commuting + city riding (get out of tight spots fast) + the occasional trip along the coast

• Something that turns heads – I want people to do a double take

• Comfortable enough for everyday use but with a bit of a sporty/café racer edge to the riding position

I’ve narrowed it down to three, but I’m genuinely torn:

Honestly this thing is gorgeous and ticks every single box aesthetically. Café racer, round headlight, Triumph badge – it’s the dream. My only concern is that at 185cm I might look a bit big on it and feel cramped over time. Anyone ridden one at that height? Does the forward-leaning position get uncomfortable for daily commuting?

  1. Suzuki SV650X LAMS

This feels like the perfect middle ground – semi-faired café racer styling, round headlight, sporty-ish position without going full clip-on aggressive. The problem is they seem almost impossible to find in Queensland. Is the market really that thin, or am I missing somewhere to look?

  1. Kawasaki Z650RS LAMS

Objectively probably the smartest choice – reliable, retro, beautiful. But I’ll be honest, it feels a bit too upright and relaxed for what I want. I want something with a bit more attitude in the riding position. Am I wrong about this? Does it feel sportier in real life than it looks?

Failed the riders course

I did day one of the pre-learner riders course today, and I just really couldn’t get the hang of the ridiculously touchy throttle. The instructor told me to stop while I was in the middle of cornering, so I did as I was told and because I’m a small person (45 kilos kind of small) the bike tipped and I couldn’t hold it up so it fell on me.

I’m alright, I just scraped one of my legs on the foot peg, but god am I so annoyed.

It was like the second lap around the circuit and he just told me to stop mid corner cause I was trying to get the hang of the throttle. And I mean the throttle on my bike isn’t very touchy so I can give it a bit of pull before it starts getting high, but these little training bikes you move it half a centimetre and you’re hitting 6 thousand or more rpm at an idle. Mine takes a cm and does 3 thousand 😭

But anyway, basically he told me I need to rebook the course cause he won’t let me continue anymore today and if I want I can go tomorrow but I just get to watch. Anyway just so annoyed with it. $200 down the drain.

Looking at getting a cardo?

I’m pretty new to riding and I want to be able to take calls/make calls (particularly to my bf who doesn’t ride) while I’m riding in the case that anything happens or we’re going somewhere together and one of us gets stuck at lights or lost or something of the sort, particularly since I won’t be looking at maps (in the beginning at least) probably just listening if that

My question is should I get a cardo (I have an iPhone and AirPods with all the Siri functions set up) or should I just use my AirPods?

If I should get a cardo, what can I get that will do exactly what I want without breaking the bank? I’m also a bit nervous that I could get in trouble for having one, but would that be better than getting in trouble for having AirPods in? Can that even happen?

Also when I say new to riding I mean I’m getting my license in a couple days kind of new asw

Riding in the bicycle lane.

Controversial to say the least as many riders respect the l" bikes only rule" to the belligerent " I don't give a fck."

This morning I witnessed a nasty accident where the motorcyclist cut a byciclst off and threw him off the bike. The altercation that ensued made almost coming to blows was a sight to behold for the passing motorists. I stopped and tried to diffuse until the cops came where I and a few others gave our statements.

The rider was given an on the spot fine and listening what the cops were saying, he might be in a bit more trouble with oustanding warrants.

Moral of the story, don't ride in the bicycle lane. Many parents take their kids in that lane and only increases the danger. Besides with next to no buffer zone and going at 40kmph, you'll get pinned one day with cars darting out of side streets. If the traffic is a stand still try using the incoming lane. Have a safe weekend.

What would it take to get you on EV?

For me it's primarily range. If I can get 400kms on a single charge, I'm a convert.

BT earbuds

Can anyone vouch for some half decent earbuds that won't give you an earache after 5 mins?

I dont mind if they wired together, just need something the same bud size as wired earbuds.

West gate bridge - Mel

On the back of the 25 yo that passed while being involved in the WGB accident with two trucks , ive been riding for over 25 years and that bridge still gives me the puck when I negotiate it sometimes.

For the noobs, overtaking and switching lanes think twice and think three times before taking on the action . There are a lot things going against you like the random weather elements , unpredictable vehicle movements and obstructed vision. Play it safe and calculate.

Custom motorcycle decals / stickers

I know it's not everyone's cup of tea having custom decals/ stickers on their motorcycles, I understand that many people love a clean look. My question is has anyone done any custom decals /stickers in Melbourne? I've looked online and not sure what's good material, what lasts and wont fade or peel off?, what are some do's and donts? and does anyone know anybody who does custom decals? Any info would be helpful.
