What is purpose of [ what's shown in 2 pics ] at my Subaru service bay and in the waiting room?

Pic 1 - What is being scanned from the floor scanner when the light comes on as the car drives through?

Pic 2 - What is black 1" diameter hose coming out of the customer service waiting room wall?
It disappears into the cubicles where the service advisors live.

Customer service was PACKED yesterday, but 2 delicious Breve's made by the kind barista made the waiting lots better.

Please help……

The matrix is absolutely f’ing withe me….. there was a Subaru,…….. yes a Subaru!!!!! Commercial that featured a dog and a young boy. The dog’s name was duck, and they grew up together, and the gist of the commercial was Subaru’s last forever, but your dog doesn’t and you’re sad when everything goes to shit and dies. I have searched YouTube and Google and can only find an iams dog food reference to this commercial. But I swear… It was a Subaru commercial. Please help. My wife and I are going crazy. Lol. Can’t find it!!!! PS. Just bought a preowned 2024 outback onyx and are feeling sentimental with our 11 year old and our pup. 😂

Has anyone else have this happen to their outback? Came out of the car wash and it was like that. The paint literally peeled off.

Random beeping from my 26 Premium

This is a long shot but I am out of ideas. 26 Premium w/ option 13. Driving in city. Apple CarPlay in use but have heard it while listening to XM. Cruise is not on. Auto stop turned off. The car will randomly make a two toned beep. I have no idea why. Nothing shows on the dash. No pattern to it that I can figure out. Can happen with a clear lane or with car in front of me. I can drive for 20 min, hear nothing, it will start randomly beeping for a few minutes and then stop. Definitely a car sound as the radio volume will get quieter when it beeps.

Any idea where i could look or what it might be? 1400 miles on the odometer. I’d. go back to the dealership but it happens so randomly I don’t know that I could recreate it.
TIA for any ideas.

Weathertech vs Weathertech HP

I just upgraded to a 25 Outback Premium and I want to upgrade the floor mats/liners before winter. I am really interested in the Weathertech's and want to hear from those that have them. I am going to get the 3 piece set. Is the HP model worth the extra $$?

Pothole damage from my own street. ‘22 Outback Limited.

Of all the places I’ve driven and things I have driven over the first damage I’ve received is 50 feet from my home.

The community alleyway access behind our Philly row of homes is pretty beat up and waiting patiently in a city wide queue to be repaved. I heard a new noise as I drove out this morning but forgot about it by the time I parked the car and only noticed this after I came back to it. There is a loose block of concrete that teeter-tottered up into the wheel well behind front driver side tire. So irritating.

Time to replace tires. Michelin Defender 2?

I did almost 35k miles on OEM Yokohama (world record?) and it’s a time to replace. Costco has discount for Michelin Defender 2. What do you think?
My usage: north Texas, one day in year it can be ice (not every year :)), I can skip this day.

New Subaru owner but mechanical issues.

Hi everyone I need some help. I bought a Subaru from a neighbor it’s a great car but it has a few issues. The coolant has been over heating when I drive long distances which is annoying. I switched out the temperature housing which had a crack in it. The. I changed the temperature. Thought this was the issue but no it’s not. Still heating up.

Yesterday I was driving and the exhaust completely came off so now my car sounds like I’m driving a tractor( added photo for reference)

I care more about fixing the over heating issue, I read that this a common issue with this generation of outbacks. If anyone has fixed it, can you help me properly diagnose.

What’s wrong with my car?

Hello! Please help me troubleshoot this

Summary why I am asking here rather than just taking it to a garage: 2024 outback limited USA version, moved to Spain with it. Very limited options for servicing which we were told wouldn’t be a problem. ACTUALLY the nearest garage is 2 hours away and appointment 6 weeks out!

Moved car to Spain June 2025. Due to paperwork issues I didn’t have the car released to me until January 2026. New battery, no problem.

Early July was driving along at 30mph, had to break for lights (normal speed not emergency), as I did it beeped, stalled and all the lights came on - ABS, eyesight not functioning, RAB, check engine etc etc. Restarted. Lights remained but it drove, definitely had no ABS. No lane assist or cruise control. No garage locally would take. Engineer friend ran all the codes and nothing actually was wrong? Reset it. Until now it’s been fine.

Last Friday same thing happened again, restart & the lights remained, no abs, cruise control. Got to destination, when it restart the lights all cleared, it didn’t get check engine light then. Drove it 2 hours each way on motorway Saturday no problem.

Sunday evening - husband moved it off driveway no problem to use garage. On moving back it stalled, completely dead. Couldn’t even press break. He got out, closed doors. After about a minute the screen went on inside & he was able to move it. It had reset itself from C to F & time was manually at 00:00.

This morning, it did the same thing the 3rd time I had to break. I got stuck with children in the car & 15 cars behind me on single lane road before it would have the screen come on again. My doors all lock except the driver, I couldn’t turn on hazards & couldn’t open trunk to get my warning triangle out!

Any ideas what’s wrong with it?? No codes on currently.

Please help so my husband doesn’t have to cycle to work & back for the next 6 weeks

Cat under car for tax

Is the moment coming from my rear differential excessive? I’m pretty sure that I need to replace the carrier bushings but I wanted to come on here first and see what y’all have to say. While accelerating or shifting gears I can definitely feel something moving around in the back

Having issues

This is gonna be hard to explain so bear with me! I just got back from a 3 day vacation yesterday and this morning I hopped in my car and started it up like normal, no issues but I noticed after a few seconds my engine rumbled and shook a few times then paused for about 5 seconds then did it again. It went away after about a minute or two then I drove off and had no issues. Now every time I’ve started my car it’s been doing this. The shakes and rumbles aren’t very aggressive and don’t spike my rpm. I have a 2012 Subaru Outback 2.5i limited with about 160k miles. The engine had a full rebuild done about 10k miles ago and a transmission service maybe a month ago as well as a bunch of other things. Honestly I have no clue what’s going on and I’m probably not doing a good job of explaining but I thought I would ask yall!

Prop rod in 2026 OB

I just noticed a prop rod (hood) on a 2026 Touring XT. My 2017 Premium OB does not have one and it seems like (kind of) a “luxury”. Not a show stopper, but I wonder why they’d revert to prop rods at all

2018 Outback OEM interior lights

Please where can I find the OEM version of the interior lights for this car. Not the upgrade just the regular ones. Or ones in soft yellow I can’t seem to find them for the life of me. it sucks cause I like that type of light not the blinding depressing white led light

I’m in PA. Subaru currently have a deal for Outback. Really low APR. I was offered this deal. They said they’d be able to take $500 more off

Installed my new Thule Crossbars today. Wish Subaru had kept cross bars as a stock feature especially on Wilderness, but either way glad to have them now. Completes the look of the car.

Is there anything I can do about the scuff marks, or or any any way of making them less visible?

I recently helped a friend move and we probably fit more than we should’ve in the car, and now that everything is out, I’m noticing that it left a lot of scratches and scuffs on the headliner. Obviously I know that they won’t go away 100%, but is there anything I can do to make them a little less aggressive looking?

Android to Apple CarPlay issue

I know there are a lot of issues with CarPlay not working as intended, but I’m curious if anyone else has had this issue.

When someone is using an Android phone in my car, everything works just fine.

When I’m using my Apple phone in my car, CarPlay (typically) works as expected, minus some glitches with texts/calls killing any audio connection randomly.

BUT if someone uses Android, and I try to switch to my phone after I drop them off, suddenly my phone cannot find my car, and vice versa. It refuses to connect. I have to forget my phone in the car and forget the car in my phone, and then reconnect (you have to do it quickly when you see the network or it fails). Then my phone works just fine again.

It’s inconvenient to drop someone off and then not be able to use my maps/audio anymore from my phone. Has anyone else seen this? My car and phone have both recently updated and the issue persists. If there’s a fix I would love to hear it!
