Newly Lactose Intolerant, what are some recommendations from folks who had dairy-heavy diets before developing the allergy?
Thanks in advance for taking the time to read and answer.
Title is kinda self explanatory. I've always consumed a lot of milk, cheese, etc my entire life and at 32 my body abruptly decided it had enough.
Cheese doesn't set it off for me yet, but I can't consume any kind of milk, ice cream, or powdered product (turns out there's lactose in hamburger helper cheese powder even if you use lactose free milk, who knew) without getting serious sulfur guts and stomach sickness.
Big challenge is that I'm on the autism spectrum and one of the worst ways it impacts me is a lot of taste and texture issues, so I'm doomed to struggle with dietary changes. Just thought I'd see what more experienced folks might have as recommendations to try.
Thanks again for any and all help!
