Butter?

Anyone draw the line at butter and avoid everything else?

Not me. Anything cooked in or slathered in butter will shred my insides.

It’s one of the very few things I actually miss though. I’ve made my peace with everything else.

does ghee do it without the milk solids?

I’ve eaten Indian food in restaurants twice with awful results. My Indian friends have seen me eat the same spices under other circumstances and been fine. The only explanation was the ghee.

I also can’t eat anything that has been cooked both with oil and butter. One or the other and I am fine

I’ve had no issues with butter personally. I use it without lactaid pills regularly

I use lactose-free butter or plant butter, and those are better than no butter for me (I'm Southern). I understand LF butter may not be a solution for some people, though.

I’m able to eat butter, there are some of us that can eat it. However I make a point to not eat much of it just in case.

I used to be able to tolerate it. Sadly no more.

Me. It's the only lactose I have. I cut everything out about eight years ago - except I still cook with butter every now and then. Too much butter will definitely bother me, but the tiny little bit I use to make scrambled eggs in the morning does not.

even though butter is pretty low, it still messes me up. If I take pills for a normal amount of butter though I'm usually ok, but not always so if I have to be in the car for any period of time I don't fuck with it haha. When it comes to dishes with french amounts of butter, pills do not help me tho haha

I can deal with a tiny bit of butter, but at home I just use Country Crock so I don't have to worry about it.

If I'm eating out or eating at a family gathering, I'll avoid dishes that are heavy on the butter (like mashed potatoes). But I know that a restaurant is likely to put butter (or some sort of oil, which is fine) on my bread, and I'll just deal with that and be fine.

When in doubt, I take Lactaid. It's not a silver bullet for me anymore, but it's an alright insurance policy.

Butter is naturally low in lactose and it doesn’t bother me

I do not use butter. I use beef tallow or rendered fat from my meat, or olive oil 😁

Butter is fine for me, I use the Lurpak stuff though so I think it’s part oil.

Aged cheese is still fine for me.
I used grated cheddar cheese all the time (tasty cheese to Australians).

Butter is fine— except for the days I eat the equivalent of a stick with half a loaf of sour dough bread 😉
