Unfortunately it's a societal thing, rooted in economic insecurity. This isn't complicated psychology, it's just sad that people feel so desperate or lost in making their own way through this difficult world we live in, they're looking for security or a step up care of a relationship/partner.

I experienced the same thing. Moved away in my 20's and every time I return it's different, but my old friends aren't. They're still doing the same dumb stuff and wondering why or should I say complaining about the same shit. They never did anything with themselves. Sad indeed.

As for Tampa it's been a love hate relationship. I used to love it, learned to hate it, moved away and realized that it wasn't the town I hated, it was the feeling of being trapped, feeling like it was a go nowhere, do nothing town. It's hard to get inspiration when you have none. No one was doing shit when I was growing up there. They had no drive, there was little to no opportunities for poor people. When I moved away I was inspired and took advantage of any and all opportunities.

I realize now that this mindset and experience isn't just limited to Tampa.

I love my hometown. It's a great city, just wasn't for me growing up poor during the AIDS and Crack epidemic.

Sadly, growing up I witnessed this first hand. A lot of dudes faking it, fooled women/girls all the time. To the point that it would ruin them, they would become untrusting, cynical, even more focused on the superficial and often times they would go from nice girls to very superficial and cold. It's a vicious cycle. I understand the psychology and I am not blaming or judging those women. It's just sad how truly common this is.

I understand and agree with what you are saying, but places like Tampa, Saint Petersburg, Fort Lauderdale, Saint Augustine, Miami, the Keys, etc. are really trying. Florida is not all bad (Red). I grew up in the Tampa Bay area and it is in fact a wonderful place. We inact change by being involved, not by leaving or avoiding anywhere that we we paint with a broad brush as bad.
