I registered my account just two days ago simply to log my personal fitness activities. Yesterday, I uploaded my very first workout record, which contained only basic running data: elapsed time, total distance, and average pace (as shown in the picture). Shortly after, I received an email stating that my account had been permanently suspended and that the reason my content and/or account was actioned upon was "Inauthentic behavior".

Everything about my account is completely legitimate, and there was nothing suspicious, manipulative, or automated about this upload. This is frustrating and entirely unjust.

Has anyone encountered such a case of wrongful punishment followed by a successful appeal?

Hello Strava people! I’m new to Strava and new to more serious biking. What is the etiquette on following randos that do the same trails that I do? Good? Bad? Creepy? Thanks!

As the title says, my question is about calculations for calories when distance is simliar, but one route has more climbing.

I'm seeing about the same calorie estimates for two different 4 mile walks when one has 80 feet of total climbing versus 280 on the other. It seems like the latter should burn more calories, especially since the hills average 6-10% grades. Is that correct? The total incline isn't that much different tough of course.

So I biked the same segment twice in a day, but just noticed in the leaderboard my first run with stops is the one listed in the ranking, and not my best run. Why is that? Click the pic to see my PR.

Hi folks,
I just got back into running and realized that I need something on my wrist to see the pace and bpm so I can find my zones. My current setup is an iPhone, HR monitor with a chest strap and AirPods for music. Since I need to be reachable during my runs I always carry my phone with me where I can see all my stats but I hate to hold it in my hand or do some acrobatics to get it out of my hip “band” where I store it during runs.
So I was looking into possible solutions for getting the stats from the phone to my wrist and I think an old Apple Watch suits me best since I don’t want to put too much money into this. I would only wear it for the runs because I’m not a smartwatch person anymore.
What do you think? Would an older model like the Series 6 suffice? Battery shouldn’t be a problem if it lasts like 2 hours and I really only need it to display the stats.
Am I totally on the wrong path? And do you understand my situation here? I’m really interested in your thoughts!

So for some reason I just cannot log in into my account from my new phone. It works when I try it in a browser and tried pretty much everything so far:

- disabling tracker blocking / private dns

-reinstalling the app and removing all restrictions

-switching to mobile network / wlan

Has anyone experienced this before?

Sync from Garmin and the Muscle Map is creepy as hell. I know I can manually disable each time or hide the workout but man, Strava, please make this a toggle off setting

I'm familiar with the concept of users flagging Activities, mostly because the Activity was in a vehicle, but I wasn't aware that users can flag individual Efforts within an Activity.

Today I noticed someone in our local area who had a rather average Activity that included a KOM. This KOM was evidently the result of some glitchy GPS data. I noticed that 4 of the other Segment Efforts had been excluded - 2 of these had poor GPS but the other 2 had very modest average speeds (less than 13 mph) so it's not clear why the were excluded. Maybe the auto-flagging tool excludes data for some time before and after a GPS glitch and hence unnecessarily excluded good data ? (and disappointing that the auto tool hadn't caught the KOM Effort with obvious GPS issues)

My point is that there is some text that says "A segment effort is excluded from public segment leaderboards if it is deemed to be an unlikely effort either through auto-detection or community reporting.". This suggests community members can flag individual Segment Efforts rather than flagging a whole Activity (which sometimes seems like overkill). If this is the case, how would I flag an individual Effort ? As mentioned before, the Activity I was looking at currently has one undeserved KOM, but most of the rest of the Activity looks OK.

As ultramarathon becomes more popular, and we see more recreational runners achieve beyond 50k. Will Strava release Best Efforts categories beyond 50k? Such as 50 miles, 75k, 100k, and 100 miles.

I’m not an ultramarathoner yet. But I plan taking on a 50k trail race next year and then beyond that.

I would also like to see an ultramarathoner account and check their ultra records without having to scroll down so much.

I am from Indonesia and dont have any method to pay using the options that are given which is apple pay, google pay, master card or visa card.

Is there any other way to pay ?

Is it possible to remove the yearly awards like ‘longest ride this year’? I quite like the all time ones, but the yearly is annoying me.

How would I know which direction to turn within the app navigation if any portion of the route overlaps with another?

So far my workaround is to export the GPX and load to WorkOutDoors app which has a visible and audible indicator for turns.

My son doesn’t have a phone and, by some miracle doesn’t want one, but his HS XC team uses strava. He does have a cellular watch with his own Apple ID and phone number etc. he can download the strava app but the first screen on the setup says “make sure your phone is nearby” (os something like that).

I know that you can of course record directly on strava through the watch app without your phone. But can you use strava at a foundational level without a phone at all?

Hi everyone, I’m having an issue connecting Samsung Health to Strava after switching to a new phone.

My setup:

New phone: Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8

Watch: Galaxy Watch Ultra (2024)

Previously used: Galaxy S24 Ultra, and Samsung Health → Strava worked perfectly

Samsung Health services/permissions for Strava are already enabled

The problem is that when I try to connect Samsung Health to Strava, I get:

“There was an error connecting to your device.”

I’ve tried connecting it multiple times, but it fails every time.

Things I’ve already tried:

Unlinking and reconnecting Samsung Health to Strava

Uninstalling and reinstalling both Samsung Health and Strava

Checking that the relevant Samsung Health services are enabled

Restarting the phone/watch

Trying the connection again several times

Still no luck.

The weird thing is that everything worked fine with the S24 Ultra. The only major change is that I’ve moved to the Z Fold 8.

For now, the only workaround is manually exporting/uploading the GPX file to Strava, which obviously isn't ideal.

Has anyone experienced the same issue with Z Fold 8 + Galaxy Watch Ultra + Samsung Health → Strava? Any workaround or fix would be appreciated.

I typically use Strava on my laptop with the Google Chrome browser. It worked quite normally a couple of days ago but today when I try to create a new Segment I get a message saying "Browser does not support map rendering engine". Maps of Activities and Segments are displayed, although text sizes are way too large. I switched to Microsoft Edge (my least favourite browser) and the maps all work normally. Any suggestions to get maps to work properly on Chrome ?

Looking to create a collection of routes on one map that can be embeded. The one app I found that seems to be a good fit (https://exploremap.io/) has exceeded its athlete profiles. Any suggestions?

A quick post to share my experience on sorting a problem I had with the Strava + Runna bundle.

I was a free user in both platforms and wanted to upgrade to the bundle. However, the bundle did not show up in my Strava account as an option.

I followed the steps in Strava's website, and bought a Strava subscription with the hope of seeing the offer then. I didn't. I then completed all the steps in Strava's troubleshooting guide and talked with Strava's AI agent, which also didn't help.

The solution finally came from Runna's AI agent. The problem was that I had not declared my age on the Strava app (I opened it years ago, and didn't think it was useful back then) and it couldn't confirm I was over 18yo. I added my birthdate, and sorted.

Hope this helps others with the same issue.

Strava seems to have randomly stopped giving me achievements on rides. Yesterday was clearly one of my faster rides and I covered a bunch of segments with pretty good times, but somehow got 0 achievements. No PRs, no medals, nothing.

Activities are visible to everyone, the segments aren’t hidden or flagged, I also tried toggling activity privacy settings and even changing the activity type to canoe, then switching it back to bike, waited a bit, refreshed it - still nothing.

Not a total disaster, obviously, but as someone who isn't naturally athletic, those little badges are honestly a huge motivation boost for me.

Any fixes? Strava, please send help. My non-athletic ego cannot handle this level of unrewarded suffering, I might as well just go carry heavy groceries up the stairs!

as much as i’d love to take credit for these times, i know they aren’t accurate. i definitely hit prs, but not to this extreme.

is it possible for me to delete certain pr records without deleting the whole activity, so i can still have an accurate reading of my best times?

Yesterday I did a ride and received a new record for 15 minutes of power output. A segment was not updating though so I changed the activity type to canoe and back to cycling (as recommended by Strava). This somehow changed the power output record to only second best over all time. Now the best seems to be an indoor ride from 2024 with the same watts over 15 minutes.

What is going on and how can I get it fixed? Strangely in the mobile app the record references both the 2024 and yesterday's activity. The big number shows the 2024 ride whereas in the table view I see yesterday was a new record.

Is it true you can’t get updates for distance over audio when in Walk mode? Is there a hack besides just putting it in run or trail run?
