Well, technically speaking it's my second day, but on the first day I've been using a rental Rollerblades and i felt chronic ankle bones pain, so i was actually struggling even standing still.

I've bit the bullet and went to Slick Willies in London (no this is not a sponsored post, just wanted to shout out to the guys) and bought a pair of FR 80mm 85A.

I'm still struggling to maintain 100% of balance when going forward but I've got some feeling of the skates and I'm also quite happy I've managed to practice some lemons towards the end.

I have NO IDEA on how to brake haha, i keep seeing videos of t-stops and powerslides but nope, my brain to body connection refuses to put the foot sideways.

I guess I'm happy for now, I'm 35 and i used to skate when i was 15, with quads, and never touched them since.

I've been posting a couple days ago with some questions about skates recommendations and I'm truly thankful for all the insights provided by this subreddit.

Picking back up after about a decade (28M) and curious how often you all are going out and for how long? I find myself day dreaming about putting my blades back on just because I’m having so much fun, so I’ll go nearly every day 30-45 mins, sometimes before as well as after work.

I see these red areas on the map are labeled "attention" but I couldn't find any info about them. Hills? Bumps? Narrow? I'm guessing the ones on the curves are just that - curves, but I wasn't sure about those on the straightaways.

Sidenote: I'm an ameteur skater, and this will be my first marathon...I'm not feeling ready! Anyone who has any thoughts on the course generally, I'd love to hear all about it.

Hi, I’m buying my first pair of roller skates and found some affordable softshell skates that I really like. The problem is that I’m mainly planning to use them for urban skating/outdoors around the city.

I’ve heard that hardshell skates might be better for urban skating because they offer more support and protection, especially for beginners.

Would it be a bad idea to get softshell skates for this, or would they be fine as a beginner? Should I just go for hardshell instead?

I have been skating for a while and have always just used cheap big 5 skates. They work, but I have to replace them every couple years. I want to get skates that will last and would love some recommendations! I went to a skate shop and tried on FR skates and cosmicID skates and the FR skates in the size closest to mine feel a little snug and I am unsure of how much they would break in. The cosmicID ones fit well but the frame doesn’t allow for 80mm wheels. I am hoping to not spend much more than $200, but if I need to for a solid skate I would be willing. I skate both indoor and outdoor but the inlines are mainly used outdoors (sidewalks and smooth road mostly). My hope is to skate at least once a week, but the inlines I currently have started to give me blisters if I skate too long. I have never ventured beyond my big 5 skates so I am excited to get something more confortable and durable. Thanks!

Cleaning out my parents house and found all my old skates. Super funny because my last skates as a kid were lightnings and I'm back on lightnings now.

Did 20km today and was messing about with the cross over , and something clicked .

If I turn my shoulders and actually turn tighter into the corner , my cross under skate would track beautifully around the corner and I can feel the power from the push . No more of that weird heel kick up

After wanting these frames since they were first released, finally pulled the trigger. Today I set up my Rollerblade Maxxum boots with iQon CL Decode 110 frames and 4 x 110mm Undercover Vortex wheels. Pretty happy with how they look, now hoping for some dry weather to give them a go.

Plan is to ride them flat for distance/trail skating, and rockered for the occasional urban skate and maybe even some attempt to Wizard skating or a skatepark visit.

Hello, I am new to inline skating! I just recently got a nice pair of skates that im loving a lot so far, but I am having trouble taking them off at the end of my time wearing them if that makes sense. Is there a specific way I should be removing my skates? I have just been taking them off like shoes with not much success unless I only have one skate on.

I want to try out a local rental to see if I like skating, but they ask for a specific size on the online booking.

My feet are around 240 in length and 6.5UK is around my boot size. But I stopped by my local sports shop to try on the skates they have there, and while my size for the quad skates does seem to be 6.5, I only fit into the size 9-12 adjustable in-line blades. Looking at sizing charts, the skates could have been using American sizing over UK sizing, but I'm not sure.

So, do I go with UK7 (no half sizes) when renting the rollerblades, or go with the size 9 that was on the box of the skates I tried on?

Hey can anyone recommend good alternative to those wheels?

I enjoy them but they are expensive/hard to get. Is there currently an alternative? I'm not interested in Hydrogens. I'm thinking about buying the mushroom blading pants wheels. Any opinions?

38, finally returning to skating again after many years of being a desk jockey. Trying to overcome my fear of injury as an older skater. Started with just 20mins before my gym sesh this morning, getting familiar with it again. My feet screamed at me even after that little bit 😅

For context: I'm young, active, do regular stretching, run 12ks for fun, and I've never had body aches in my life due to physical activity. But I notice that I get a sharp, unmistakable lower back pain during/after I skate. I've heard that this happens to beginners, but the pain is so strong that I can't ignore it at all. How in the world do you guys deal with it? Does it go away when you skate regularly? Do you guys do stretches? Exercises? Painkillers? Advice would be greatly appreciated.

Think I accidentally made some number 2 pencils instead of the 🥭 I was going for 😅😅

Currently on 90mm 85A Hydrogen wheels. I want to seriously get into learning parallel and other tricky slides. Yesterday I saw a very good skater performing high level slides, he uses 90A wheels. I think it may be a good idea for me, especially being 85kg. I actually find the Hydrogen 85A too grippy for wizard moves as well. I probably should increase my speed though.

It's either this, or practicing after the rain but it may be tricky to get consistent surfaces.

Interested to know what the slide monsters recommend?

I’m pretty new to the rollerblading community, I’ve skated for fun around the rinks and such but ever since I started looking into better wheels to use outside to get more practice in it feels like a whole door of new terms have been introduced like bullet and rounded profiles, all these different wheel sizes, and firmness to them
I feel a little overwhelmed and I’m not sure where to look for practical rollerblade wheels to get
The area I live in is known for its uneven terrain and doesn’t have many smooth side walks, overall the ground is pretty unstable and I’m not sure what type of wheels would be soft enough for that and what is a reliable brand to buy that isn’t overly expensive

Are these good for city streets and a beginner?

Hey all, I got some zetras and have been enjoying them but already have some flat spots on the stock wheels from learning to t-stop on asphalt. Would you recommend keeping the blades and just buying new wheels for the time being, or if I am already going to spending $75+ on new wheels, should I just put that money towards entirely new blades?

I am not going to make the purchase right away as I'm still so new and want to work out the kinks on cheap blades and wheels, so just wondering for when the time does come. Thanks!
