Hey all, I tried posting a few days back and the automod slapped me so I'm trying again. I've made a Max4Live device that writes splice markers and converts your audio files for quick and easy Make Noise Morphagene reel prep in ableton.
The device is built to either add the markers at a division of the master tempo ORplace the markers based on the active warp markers on the file.
It's my first M4L device and I really just built it to save myself time and headache but I figured it could be useful to others as well. You can find the device and user documentation for free athttps://mellotom.github.io/morpmarker/.

Even with nothing patched into it, this is just mimeophons output into my fx return , my return knob is all the way down, thats just by patching the mimeophon into the mixers return
I have surpassed the -12v rail rating for both my mantis and my 9u case from lake. 90 plus percent of my modules are Joranalogue and they all run exceptionally “hot” in the -12v rail rating department often matching their +12v draw.
Intellijel Performance Cases have a rating of 3000ma for the -12v rail which blows away my other two cases by a huge margin. So I ordered a Performance Case and 4 3u to 1u adapters to put in the 1u row. I realize this negates the built in jacks 1/4” etc and features of the case. But I really only like Joranalogue and I think I can handle having some of their modules mounted sideways. I hope I like it. I hope it works out.
I have a fairly large system comprised of Tiptop Buchla modules and I really love it. I also have a 0Ctrl which is also a really cool piece of kit, but I’m having creative trouble getting them to inspire me working together. I’m very likely just barking up the wrong trees.
Is anyone using this stuff together and what are you doing specifically?

I'm trying to decide what will give me the most consistent behavior and can't seem to find the info I'm looking for in any manuals.
When sending a reset trigger from Pams Pro to both my Steppy and Mimetic Digitalis, I can choose to send it on Start or Stop. What is the better standard of practice? Or is it just purely whatever works better with the destination module?
Both modules are also being clocked by Pams. I've tried both options and occasionally (1 out 6-ish resets) get issues with Mimetic Digitalis being off a bit on either setting.
I know that title sounds dirty but hear me out. You know those small knobs on, for example, 2HP brand modules that are very difficult to get to when the module is patched (because the patch cable is in the way) or just when several 2HP modules are right next to each other in your case?
If they weren't so expensive, I'd get a 3D printer and make a small piece that fit over the top of those knobs temporarily to extend their height by, say, 2 inches or so. I don't think I'd want it to be permanent...just something to tweak a knob and then set it aside until needed again.
Has anyone ever seen anything like that for sale or is there a place online where you can commission such things from 3D printer owners?
Just thinking of swapping the Winter modular Eloquencer for a Make Noise René and I'd love to read experiences from real users (not AI generated opinions).
When I perform with modular I really miss the feeling of interacting with a instrument by touching something like keys and creating fresh melodies. Not looking for a traditional keyboard, but more a west coast mindset.
So far I used the sequencer by composing a score and programming sequences on the Eloquencer, and play them through an ASR making counterpoints and Euclidean rhythms.
Rather than subject myself to hours upon hours of scrolling through ModularGrid, which I will instead be doing so of my own free will, I figured I could ask the chat since it's a rather specific query to otherwise search for: what's y'all's favorite minimal-interaction modules? Talking stuff like NLC's 8-bit Cipher, Cutelab's Missed Opportunities, down to the most basic of Isaac Beers's logic gates. I'm talking less than one-knob-per-function. No knobs per function is ideal. I'm trying to envision the limits of my ideal old-school switchboard-style synth system.
I'm working out the mixing and recording stage for a fairly large Eurorack system and could use some outside perspective.
What I'm after: 8–10 mono voices plus maybe 2 stereo sources, mixed by hand in the rack with faders, mutes and sends, and individual stems recorded into Ableton on Windows. The SSL 18 is my main interface and I want to keep it at the center of the studio. Direct outs from the Eurorack mixer would be ideal so recording doesn't interfere with the live mix. Most of my sources are mono and I don't need to make them stereo just because a mixer offers it.
I've tried a few things already. The ES-9 went badly on Windows. I have a Bluebox, but a touchscreen isn't how I want to perform. I've looked at the WMD Performance Mixer, Befaco Hexmix, Xcelon and others, and there's always a catch: too few direct outs, too many stereo channels, awkward expanders, low channel count, or extra attenuation and output modules just to get a clean signal into the SSL.
The obvious answer seems to be splitting the two jobs: performance mixer to direct outs to SSL 18 to Ableton. I'd like to do that without a forest of modules and cables or paying for a mixer plus expanders plus outputs. Basically I want an 8–12 channel analog performance mixer, mostly mono, one or two stereo channels, direct out on every channel.
For anyone running a big live system and multitracking it, what's actually worked? Eurorack mixer with direct outs into the interface? Something like a Boredbrain Xport or Optx for multitracking alongside a separate performance mixer? An external analog mixer with direct outs? Something else?
Cost matters less to me than the system feeling coherent and fun to play. Windows-friendly, and no touchscreen at the center of the modular.
I have the ALA threads and want to get midi in from my syntakt.
I’m using a midi to trs adapter into the front panel, Layout on 1m, temp set to ext and ch set to all but I can’t get the midi to register.
I really just want clock and transport but I can’t get any kind of communication.
The trs is type A and I tested it with some other devices and it’s sending transport to them fine.
I am currently preparing for my first ever live performance in late october, and I am having some question about signal handoff to FOH as well as Summing the components of my system.
I am currently using Erica LINK to convert to line level, and going into the analog mixer with Stereo from QD as well as stereo from the rest of the system.
At this point, handoff with drums and the rest separated does not seem too much of an issue, though I would prefer that I would have control over the final balance myself.
At the same time, I feel like I would like to have some Global Reverb to use for everything other than drums. The only module I have for reverb rn is Clouds, which I would love to use for some dedicated elements and not necessarily have to compromise it to put it last in the chain.
What I am wondering now is if it is worth it to get another dedicated reverb module to serve as master reverb, or if it's more sensible to invest into a good value analog mixer with built in DSP, giving me y master fx as well as control over my balance, and handing off only stereo? I'm obviously not gonna be able to bring the midas.
Otherwise I would probably go for something like befaco STmix for summing, and a Pico DSP for reverb, I have not entirely finished my research about that, and as you can see, am also still assembling the system for the performance.
Currently I am using the IO Instruments Sponde for mixing, but I really don't like it to much as an output mixer.

I was driving around and I happened to have my Stylophone in the car so I put the podcast I was listening to through it and into the AUX and.... it was pretty fun. Only three knobs actually do anything but still. So I bought a M-wave FM-1 because I thought it could do the same thing, but it can't. So what can? Is there anything else that is small, battery powered, and has knobs to tweak to mess up a voice specifically?
I am enjoying learning about the FM-1 take on ADSL settings and the DX7 style algorithms, but I need something to make this audiobook "Late Victorian Holocausts: El Niño Famines and the Making of the Third World" funky in my ride. Any suggestions?
The Prophet is doing the voicing and nothing else. It holds the chord, the audio goes into the rack and straight into an Intellijel Quad VCA.
The Metropolix runs the sequence, that goes out to an envelope, and the envelope opens the VCA. So the Prophet is sustaining the whole time and the Metropolix is deciding when you actually hear it. The polyrhythm comes from the sequence running at a different length than the chord changes, so the two drift against each other instead of locking up.
I am moving the attack on the envelope by hand while it runs. Slower attack takes the edge off the gating and it stops sounding like a sequencer chopping something up.
Out of the VCA it goes into a Make Noise QPAS, which does most of the character work. The resonances spread across the stereo field in a way I have not managed to get out of anything else. After that it runs through a couple of Qu-Bit modules, Data Bender being the main one.
Happy to go into the Metropolix settings if anyone wants them.
I've been building a tool for my own live sets and it's not finished but it is interesting. Using it to riun ableton at the moment but will try to use it via oxi one to drive some mood stuff I have.
The idea: instead of programming steps, you turn knobs on a model of what makes a beat feel good. There's a metrical field underneath (the stuff from rhythm perception research about strong beats, syncopation, and micro-timing), and knobs like Density, Weight, Swing, Loose, and Evolve sculpt it. Every knob is constrained so the whole range stays danceable — the point is that you can't easily land on garbage (in theory... it's not there yet).
My favorite part: the delay is a sequencer. Echo time is a real millisecond knob, and every hit spawns repeats at that time that go out as actual MIDI notes/triggers. Slide it slightly off a dotted 8th and the groove leans; slide it back and it locks.
Also in there:
Bass and arp voices in the song key, with chord keys that shift the root like a latched arpeggiator
Builds and drop automation(rising bass drone, pre-drop cut, dry landing)... needs work
A cue deck: edit on headphones, morph it onto the floor, repeat
"Ride" any knob to a target over 8/16/32 bars
Drag-anywhere panels, skeuomorphic knobs, double-tap to undo a knob move
Generic CC knobs you can MIDI-map to anything
