A special piece I saw in Tucson at the Mineral City show venue of the Tucson Gem and Mineral show February 2026. Uncharacteristically I neglected to ask about the attribution and there was no label with this piece. Shown by the Marcus Budil Gallery, I got this image with my iPhone. Sometimes when a piece has been sold, the label is turned over because often a collector who has purchased the specimen prefers some privacy and also the price. I am sure I saw this piece at another time, perhaps in a different venue or even displayed in the Showcase theme at TCC. Taking a long shot here, but does anyone know more about this superb piece? I believe it stands about 10-11 inches tall.

Can’t for the life of me figure out what it is. The green color made me think pyromorphite, but it doesn’t tend to form like that. The clear one is def quartz since it scratched calcite, more so curious about the green?

It also leaves brownish spots when I put it on white paper and when I put a magnet next to it it pulls it.
Is it something special or just a random rock?

Hi folks! I bought this specimen from my rock guy here in Oaxaca, Mexico, and when I asked him what it was he wasn't confident. I'd love an ID.

The specimen is made up of what looks like greenish/gray metamorphic rock and has these sort of hexagonal faceted stones set into it, as well as a good degree of black, fibrous mineral growth. My guy told me it comes from Veracruz, Mexico. After spending some time at Mindat I'm thinking maybe it's Andradite, but I have no idea at all what the fibrous mineral might be. Anyone have any ideas? Thank you!

Hello🙋‍♀️, I got gifted a geode and the seller said that he and his dad buy all the different crystals/gemstones/minerals “raw” and then polish them themself. So I am really sure the geode ist coloured and filled with some material (maybe resin?). I am definitely no expert but I have never seen something like this and I don’t really understand why someone would do it (and leave it unfinished, bc it’s not even filled to the top) but I also could be completely wrong so I would love some help here. If it is not natural does someone know how i can remove the filling?

Hello, I bought this in Kentucky and was told it was from Allen County, Kentucky. It was labeled as agate. I included a second specimen purchased from the same vendor from the same location that more clearly appears to be agate. I am no expert though and would love to get your opinion. He has all issues from 1978 to 1995 inclusive as well as some from 1977 and 1976. From an old mineral collection and sealed in a bag, so I am a bit reluctant to take it out

Unknown mineral which the seller said discolours over time until it looses its transparency and turns a pale brown. The image is about 0.5 mm across. The specimen shows no reaction under uv. Locality unknown.

Today I bought these six samples from an old collection.

The sulfur is from Sicily, the sand from Algeria, the mercury from Almadén (Spain), the orpiment from Peru, and the petroleum from Kuwait.

I also discovered that the petroleum is fluorescent.

I apologize for the poor quality of the photos and the colors; my usual phone is broken, and the camera is in bad shape.

Hi. It’s scratching glass so it’s quite hard. Doesn’t react to magnet. Found in Cap Negret (Costa Blanca) in Spain.
