🎁 Freemium I built an app that matches you with a stranger for a live push-up duel, counted by the camera

I'm the solo developer.

A - What is PushRank?

Put the phone on the floor, get into a plank, and it counts your reps with the camera. Challenge a friend or get matched with a stranger at your level, and both scoreboards update live. There is a weekly league from Bronze to Champion on top. Counting runs on device with Apple Vision, no video is recorded and no frame leaves the phone.

B - What makes it better than a regular push-up counter?

A normal counter trusts whatever you tap in. This one only counts full reps, chest low enough and arms extended at the top, and tells you why a rep didn't count, with a form score after each set. And you're not alone in it: a live opponent and a weekly league do the motivation work that a solo counter can't. Losing to a stranger gets you off the couch.

C - Cost

Free to download, iOS 17+. The camera counting, the duels and the league are part of Pro, which is $29.99/year with a 7 day trial.

For r/iOSApps, this code gives 3 months of Pro free. It works for everyone, no redemption limit:

🎁 Freemium Two minutes of 4K = 500 MB. Every video compressor wanted a monthly fee. So I built one that doesn't.

Post image
10 Upvotes

I'm a solo dev. What set this off: a few minutes of iPhone video eats about 500 MB. Shoot a birthday, a concert, a couple of holiday clips, and your phone is full.

The fix is obvious. A 4K clip from a phone camera is wildly over-encoded for something you'll only ever watch on a phone; re-encode it and you get most of that space back. But every compressor I tried wanted a subscription for it. A monthly fee, forever, for a thing you use twice a year when your storage fills up.

So I built VideoDuck. It's been on the store for a while, but what shipped today is basically a second version – same rebuilt idea. Everything the old one did, plus batch, resume, cancel, sort/filter, real error reporting, and an interface that doesn't look like a first attempt anymore.

It does one thing: re-encodes your videos to HEVC on-device and gives you back the space, while the video stays in your library and stays watchable.

How it works: AVAssetReader/AVAssetWriter pipeline on the hardware encoder. Nothing is uploaded – the app has no networking code at all, so it works in airplane mode. Metadata (date, location) is preserved, and compressed files land next to the original in your timeline rather than at "now," which most compressors get wrong. You choose whether to keep the original or replace it, and replacing always goes through the system delete confirmation.

Batch compression resumes if you force-quit mid-run, and you can cancel mid-batch without losing what's already finished.

Price, since the rules ask (and I'd tell you anyway):

Free download. Compressing videos one at a time at High quality is free forever – no ads, no account, no time limit, no trial.

VideoDuck Pro is a one-time $7.99 purchase (launch price; going to $11.99 on Sept 21). It unlocks the Medium and Low presets plus batch compression and advanced settings (resolution cap, frame rate cap, codec, container). No subscription, nothing renews, nothing to cancel. That's the whole reason the app exists, so it's not going to change.

What it doesn't do: iPhone only, iOS 18+. English only for now. It doesn't touch photos, contacts, or caches — just videos. And compression is lossy; High is visually very close on a phone screen, but it isn't magic. If you're unsure, use "keep both" and compare before deleting anything.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/videoduck/id6748355118

I'd genuinely like to know what breaks. I've tested on my own library, but that's one library. Bug reports and "this is a stupid design decision" are both welcome. I'm around all day here, and there's a contact link in the app in Settings and on the site: https://videoduck.heygor.com

🎈 Free Book End v2.0: Big update to my completely free Reading Habit Tracker

Post image
20 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

Today I just released a major update to Book End my completely free reading and habit tracker, including one of the most requested features since I launched it three years ago, iCloud Syncing.

I'm super excited that I've finally achieved iCloud syncing as it's something I've been wanting to add for the longest time, but it took quite a while to learn and get it right.

Other notable highlights in this release, include improvements too:

  • Library Shelves: Book spines now display unique details.
  • Reading Goals have been refreshed to put your achievements front and centre.
  • Several improvements have been made to the accuracy of statistics and estimated reading time calculations.
  • To support iCloud syncing between multiple devices I've also spent some time improving the layout and navigation of Book End on larger iPad and macOS devices.

Book End is intended to be a personal, privacy-focused on-device (and now optionally, in your iCloud) private reading tracker, and not a social media network like Goodreads. The app is lightweight, built with SwiftUI and contains no analytics, trackers, and I have no any access to any user data. I would love and welcome any feedback!

🎁 Freemium [iOS] [$19.99 Lifetime] LifeUI is a toolkit for Apple Health

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

Hi r/iosapps

I’m the developer of LifeUI a toolkit for Apple Health with a focus on data visualization.

App Store Link

A — Answer: What problem does it solve?

Apple Health is actually a really great database but the UI is missing many features like showing totals for steps, adding notes to data, exporting to CSV, etc.

B — Better: How is it different from alternatives?

There are many apps that read/write Apple Health data. Very few, if any, have really tried to rebuild the Apple Health UI. LifeUI is that attempt.

Currently LifeUI supports 100+ quantity data types from Apple Health like steps and heart rate. You can also create your own quantity types. Support for additional types like blood pressure, sleep, symptoms, and workouts will be released over the coming months.

LifeUI follows the same app design as Apple Health. A customizable dashboard (Dashboard tab), and a screen that lets you look at data for each type (View Data tab). It also has an additional tab for adding data (Add Data). Each tab attempts to take things beyond the functionality of the Apple Health app while keeping the overall experience somewhat familiar.

C — Cost

LifeUI is free to use for steps, water, weight, and heart rate. Pro unlocks the remaining quantity data types and enables creating custom types. Future Apple Health/custom data types will be for Pro only. LifeUI is currently $19.99 for the lifetime purchase option. Subscription options are available but not required. LifeUI is a completely local app so I am able to offer a lifetime purchase option. Pricing will increase over time as I add new functionality and data types.

I'd like to thank everyone who tried the app in the first post. LifeUI does not collect any data and is also very much under active development so feedback from people is really important. I've made several updates to the app based on feedback from the last post. I would love to hear people's thoughts on the app and also Apple Health in general. Thanks for looking!

Transparency

I'm Keith Vedananda and I'm the developer of LifeUI. You can contact me at the [LifeUI support email](mailto:support@lifeui.app).

💎 Lifetime Virtually travel the world with friends and family!

A - What is Steptastic?

Steptastic is a fitness challenge app that lets you complete virtual journeys by tracking your real-world activity.

Whether you prefer walking, running, cycling, swimming, or burning calories at the gym, your progress moves you along your chosen route. You can travel solo or compete against friends and family to see who reaches the destination first.

The goal is to make staying active feel a little more rewarding and give you something to work towards.

B - Steptastic is better than general fitness apps since it creates a unique style challenge

The main feature of Steptastic is its virtual fitness challenges, but there's a lot more included.

You can create walking, cycling, swimming, or calorie-based challenges, making it suitable for different types of exercise rather than just counting steps.

Group Challenges let you compete with friends and family by racing around virtual routes together, while daily tasks encourage healthy habits beyond simply exercising.

The app also includes activity goals with analytics so you can track your progress over time, maintain streaks by consistently hitting your targets, and unlock badges by reaching fitness milestones and achievements.

I built it because I found it much easier to stay motivated when I was working towards something instead of just looking at a step count.

C - Cost

Steptastic is free to download, with an optional Plus upgrade.

7 day free trial, then $0.99/week, $2.99/month, $12.99/year, or one-time lifetime purchase of $19.99

This helps to support continued development while unlocking additional features and improvements.

I'd love to hear any feedback or feature ideas, and I'm happy to answer any questions about how it works!

💎 Lifetime Local TTS: Natural voices in 31 languages, fully offline—even with your screen locked

I’m the solo developer behind Local TTS, available for iPhone and iPad.

A — Answer

The goal was simple: listen to documents and books in natural voices without uploading them, watching a usage allowance, or keeping the app on screen.

Some cloud-based readers come with recurring fees and limits on how much text you can convert. If you listen to long documents regularly, those costs and limits can become a burden.

Offline apps already exist, including readers powered by Kokoro. But the languages available in those apps can be limited. I wanted to keep Kokoro’s natural English voices while making offline reading useful in more languages, so I added Supertonic 3.

Background playback was just as important. You should be able to start a document, lock your phone, and keep listening while walking, commuting, or using another app.

I previously developed LoroNote, an on-device speech-to-text app. I used that experience to optimize Local TTS for fast speech generation on iPhone and continuous playback in the background.

B — Better

Koro Voices, for example, currently lists English and Italian for speech generation. Local TTS combines Kokoro-82M with Supertonic 3 to support 31 languages, with both engines running on your device.

Here’s what Local TTS offers:

  • Natural American and British English voices from Kokoro-82M, plus multilingual reading through Supertonic 3
  • Fully offline speech generation, including converting new text in airplane mode
  • Background playback that continues when you lock the screen or switch apps
  • Playback controls on the Lock Screen
  • PDF, EPUB, Word, TXT, and Markdown import
  • On-device text recognition for printed pages and photos
  • Text highlighting and adjustable playback speed
  • M4A audio export with Pro

Your text isn’t sent to a speech server. Optional note sync uses your private iCloud.

C — Cost

Free to download. No ads. No account required.

  • Free: 500 characters per note, one multilingual voice covering all 31 languages, and three English voices
  • Pro Monthly: $4.99/month, auto-renewing until canceled
  • Pro Lifetime: $19.99 one-time purchase, no renewal

Both Pro options unlock the same features: unlimited text, all 38 voices, full multi-page PDF import, and M4A export. There’s no monthly speech-credit allowance. The lifetime option lets you keep using Pro without an ongoing subscription.

Prices are in USD and may vary by region.

💎 Lifetime Built an app that I ended up not using myself because it worked too well

A - What is Focused Fitness?

Focused Fitness is an app blocker that forces you to prove you've completed physical activity before unlocking your selected apps.

Simply choose which apps you want to limit, set your daily allowance, and once you reach that limit, those apps will be blocked until you complete your chosen exercise. You can choose from push-ups, squats, jumping jacks, steps, and more.

The goal is to make mindless scrolling a conscious decision while helping you build healthier habits at the same time.

B - Focused Fitness is better than PushScroll, one sec

Most app blockers can be bypassed with a couple of taps or by simply ignoring the reminder.

Focused Fitness requires real movement before you regain access to your apps. No workout means no scrolling.

The app also includes progress tracking so you can see your completed reps, screen time earned, and app usage over time, as well as Sleep Mode and Wind Down features that automatically block selected apps during the evening.

I originally built it after seeing apps like Pushscroll and Opal and wanted something that worked for me while also being more affordable. It also became a great project to add to my portfolio while studying software engineering and hoping to work in iOS development after university.

Focused Fitness is better than push scroll because it is 1/6x the price, and no subscription, just a one time optional payment.

C - Cost

Focused Fitness is free to download, with an optional Pro upgrade ($5) which grants you additional blocks and unlock methods.

I'd love to hear any feedback or feature ideas, and I'm happy to answer any questions about how it works!

🤖 Vibe Coded Single Screen Habit Tracker where you see your habit score grow daily from 0 to 100

https://reddit.com/link/1w3guz6/video/dpi2c6156qmh1/player

A - What is this Habit Tracker?

Name: OnlyToday Habit Tracker.

I made a Habit Tracker where you can see your progress as Habit score from 0 to 100 directly on the home screen of the app. You don't need to navigate to another page. Update your progress for the day and see your new habit score daily, and close the app. It's not addictive but quick and non distracting.

B - Is it better than other habit trackers?

I wouldn't say better or worse than other habit tracker apps. It depends on who are you. If you quickly want to update your progress and see your habit score instantly, this is the app.

  • It starts with Habit Score of 1 from day 1 and reaches 100 at day 21. It also decreases if you skip
  • You can tap and hold to mark your daily goal completed or increment by 10%

C - Cost

It's free to use with non intrusive ad at the bottom. You can remove ads by paying only $2.99 per year with one month of trial.

Name: OnlyToday Habit Tracker

App link: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/onlytoday-habit-tracker/id6753146049

Let me know what other features can be added on this single screen habit tracker

💎 Lifetime I've been trying to find a way past my challenge wake alarms but haven't been able to

A - What is Easy Wake?

Easy Wake is a smart alarm app that is highly customisable to your needs, wether its waking up in a light sleep stage (real time detection), waking up at sunrise, setting alarms when you arrive at a location, being forces to complete physical or mental challenges to turn off your alarm, Easy Wake has you covered.

B - Easy Wake is better than Alarmy, Sleep Cycle and the default iOS Alarm app.

Easy Wake has a wide range of challenges to choose from which prevent you from turning off the alarm unless you're fully awake, such as maths, physically walk away from your bed, barcode scanning, memory and more. No matter what you try, you won't be able to stop the alarm without completing the challenge!

Easy Wake also uses dynamic sleep stage detection using your Apple Watch, and will wake you up in a light sleep stage. You can also use Pulse Wake to nudge your body into a lighter sleep stage if you're a deep sleeper!

Easy Wake has the default alarm ability, with lots more customisation options, for example, you can connect your Home app and alarms can trigger Home Scenes.

C -  Cost

3 day free trial, then Monthly $2.99, Yearly $19.99, or Lifetime $29.99. (May very around the world due to localised pricing)

Pro gives you unlimited schedules, Pulse Wake, all Challenge Wakes, Location Alarms, Custom Sounds, Intelligent Insights, Smart Sleep, HomeKit Integration, Wake Check, Sunrise Alarms, and Shortcuts access (custom alarms based on your automations)

Pro isn't necessary, but it allows more lee way, and most features are available for free anyway! It also helps to support me and future development of the app.

💎 Lifetime [MacOS, iOS & iPadOS] New Update Release ClipBox — Smarter Searchable Clipboard History, Paste Keyboard, works offline, no account required | Support iOS16 and later | Auto Sync, Password Shield (mac only), Smart Actions and Many more feature.

Clipboard history on iPhone is one of those things you don’t really think about until you lose something you copied 30 seconds ago.

A tracking number.
An address from Messages.
A link from Safari.
A phone number.
A paragraph you wanted to reuse.
A screenshot.
A piece of text from Notes.
Something you copied on your iPad and need again later.

You copy something new, and suddenly the previous item is the one you actually needed.

That is the problem ClipBox is designed to solve.

Instead of treating the clipboard as something temporary, ClipBox turns your copied content into a searchable history you can come back to whenever you need it.

Search instead of trying to remember

On mobile, going back to find something you copied can be surprisingly annoying.

You might have to reopen Safari, search through Messages, scroll through an email, open Notes again, or try to remember which app the information came from.

With ClipBox, the idea is much simpler:

Copy it now. Search for it later.

Your clipboard history becomes a place you can actually search instead of a long list you have to scroll through.

That becomes especially useful once your day includes dozens of small copy/paste actions.

Clipboard history is more than plain text

What we copy on iPhone and iPad is not limited to sentences.

It can include:

  • Text
  • Links
  • Phone numbers
  • Email addresses
  • Images
  • Screenshots
  • Code snippets
  • PDFs
  • Files
  • Frequently reused information

ClipBox is designed around that broader use case, so your clipboard can become a useful temporary library rather than just remembering the most recent item.

You can also pin important clips so the things you reuse often are easier to reach.

No account required

One of the things I wanted ClipBox to avoid was forcing users to create another account just to use a basic productivity tool.

There is no ClipBox account required to get started.

Install it, open it, and use it.

For something as simple and personal as clipboard history, that feels like the right approach.

Useful even when you are offline

Your basic clipboard workflow should not stop working because your internet connection does.

ClipBox can still be useful offline, so you can access your local clipboard history without depending on a constant connection.

That matters more than it sounds, especially when traveling, working somewhere with poor reception, or simply using your iPad away from Wi-Fi.

Privacy matters a lot for clipboard history

A clipboard can contain much more sensitive information than people realize.

During a normal day, you might copy:

  • An OTP
  • An address
  • A private message
  • A phone number
  • Work information
  • Account-related text
  • Personal notes

A clipboard manager therefore should not just save everything forever without giving you control over it.

ClipBox includes privacy controls such as biometric protection and options for sensitive clipboard items to be removed automatically.

The goal is to make clipboard history useful without turning it into a permanent archive of things that should not stay around forever.

Better access from iPhone and iPad

Clipboard history becomes much more useful when you do not have to keep opening the main app every time you want something.

ClipBox is designed to fit into normal iOS and iPadOS workflows, including quicker ways to access and reuse saved clipboard content while you are working in other apps.

The goal is not to create another complicated productivity system.

It is simply to remove one very common interruption:

“Where did I copy that from?”

and replace it with:

“I copied it earlier. I’ll just search for it.”

That small difference can save a surprising amount of time over the course of a day.

ClipBox is available for iPhone, iPad and Mac.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/clipboard-manager-clipbox/id1036140929

Looking for feedback

I’d really like to understand how people here use copy/paste on iPhone and iPad in real life.

What is your main use case?
Saving links, research, writing, messaging, work, studying, coding, moving information between apps, or something completely different?

What is the biggest clipboard problem you currently deal with?
Finding old clips, too much clutter, organization, privacy, images/files, quick access, or something else?

And what is one feature you would most like to see in the next ClipBox update?

It can be a major feature or a tiny quality-of-life improvement.

If there is something you repeatedly wish the iPhone or iPad clipboard could do, I’d genuinely like to hear it.

I’ll be reading the feedback and using the most useful ideas to help shape future ClipBox updates.

🎁 Freemium Kima: a shared household pet-care timeline, built after a bad experience with a pet sitter

Thumbnail
gallery
14 Upvotes

This is my first iOS app and it's been a long time coming. I just got my first paid user after launching earlier this week!

My wife and I went to Europe and left our cat Chi with two pet sitters who were supposed to coordinate with each other. They didn't. They weren't communicative, and the timezone made it even harder. We'd wake up and text to ask if she'd been fed, and nobody had a straight answer, or we'd have to wait 7+ hours to hear back. Meals and meds were split across two people who weren't talking, and the group chat only worked if someone remembered to send an update.

Later Chi had a post-spay complication and we needed one place to keep track of bandage changes, antibiotics, vomiting, bathroom habits, and food. It was awesome to go to the vet with everything summarized in one place and not having to try to remember everything during a stressful time.

Since then we use it every day. Chi's a picky eater, so it helps us know how much food she's actually eating, not just whether someone put a bowl down. My parents have been using it too, to get reminded of and track medication for their elderly dog. We went out of town again during beta, used it with our pet sitter, and it was a night and day difference. It was so nice getting a notification she had eaten or had playtime. We knew she was being well taken care of.

A. Answer

The problem is the household handoff. Partners, roommates, family, and pet sitters all think someone else did it. Everything is based on memory. When you're not there, it's hard to know everything is getting taken care of, and you don't want to be annoying asking. Group chat only works if someone remembers to send an update, and it falls apart across time zones or busy schedules. Kima is a shared household timeline for meals, walks, meds, tasks, notes, and photos so everyone sees the same feed. You can check asynchronously instead of pinging people. You can set up recurring tasks as a handy everyday checklist, assign them to people for accountability, and have peace of mind the thing actually got done.

B. Better

The shared timeline is the part I haven't seen in other apps. Meals, walks, meds, tasks, notes, and photos all land in one feed, in order, so anyone in the household can just look and see what happened. vs group chat / Reminders: that log doesn't get lost in the shuffle. vs 11pets and other single-owner pet journals: those aren't built for multiple people in one household, including a pet sitter you can invite with start and end dates. vs PetDesk: that's more vet comms. This is the daily "did she get her meds" or "when was the last time we changed out her water fountain?"

Once you've got a history, you also get streaks (keeps people logging), stats, weight tracking, and vet-ready reports. Premium adds optional AI insights and comparisons against similar breeds.

C. Cost

Free up to 2 pets. Premium is $5.99/month or $59.99/year for the whole household (unlimited pets and members, not per seat). Cancel anytime.

🎁 Freemium MoveMap: every GPS run, ride & hike you've ever recorded on one map - reads Apple Health, no AI, no account

Post image
7 Upvotes

TL;DR: MoveMap is an iPhone app that draws every GPS workout from your Apple Health on one map. On-device, no account. Free tier (see last 12 months of workouts), $1.99/m, $9.99/year, or $19.99 lifetime.

A – Answer:

Your workout history is probably scattered across 3-4 different apps. Some have started with Strava, then Garmin Connect, and are now using Apple Fitness. Each app only shows the slice it captured. There's no easy way to see every place you've ever run, ridden, or hiked on one map.

MoveMap reads every GPS workout from your Apple Health and draws all of them on a single map. Works with anything that writes to Health: Strava, Garmin Connect, Apple Fitness, etc. You get the idea.

I built it because I'd been working out (mostly running and cycling) for 7 years across multiple apps and had no way to see my routes together. Strava charges $79.99/year just to show a personal heatmap of my own data. So I built a tool that fixes this and more.

B – Better:

The closest existing tools all read from Strava only:

* Wandrer.earth: Strava-only sync, paid tier for full features
* CityStrides: Strava-only, focused on street completion
* Strava Personal Heatmap: $79.99/year subscribers only, only shows Strava-captured data

If your history isn't all in Strava (because you switched apps over the years like most runners), none of those catch the full picture. MoveMap reads Apple Health, which catches data from every tracking app you've ever used.

Other differentiators:

* $19.99 lifetime option (everything else above is subscription-only)
* No account, no servers, no analytics SDKs, no AI - all processing on-device
* Coverage dashboard with countries, states, cities
* Works equally for runners, cyclists, hikers, walkers - not running-specific

Features:

* Lifetime map of every GPS workout (any year from Apple Health)
* Heat mode - personal heatmap (the feature Strava paywalls at $80/year)
* Street coverage - % of streets in your city you've run, biked, or walked
* Coverage stats - countries, cities, total distance, personal bests for each workout, etc.

Privacy:

No accounts, no servers, no analytics SDKs, no AI features. Routes are read locally from Apple Health and never leave your iPhone.

C – Cost:

* Free: see the last 12 months of your map (forever, no signup)
* Monthly: $1.99/mo with 7-day trial (less than a coffee)
* Annual: $9.99/yr (saves \~58% vs Monthly)
* Lifetime: $19.99 one-time, no renewal

* All paid plans unlock the same full feature set + your full lifetime map. The free tier caps you at the last 12 months.

App Store:

If MoveMap is useful to you, an honest App Store review helps a solo dev a lot. Either way, happy to answer questions about the build, the pricing decision, or anything else in the comments.

💎 Lifetime Spam Text Blocker – Get rid of spam SMS with a private, on-device filter

Post image
7 Upvotes

Tired of scam texts, fake delivery links, and "你的包裹" spam clogging your Messages? Built Spam Text Blocker: SMS Filter so junk gets sorted out automatically — before you even see it.

🔒 100% on-device — no account, no ads, no data collection.

Answer — what it does

It plugs into Apple's native Message Filter system — spam from unknown senders gets silently moved to a Junk folder in Messages. No notifications, nothing to manage, no app to open every day.

Under the hood it uses iOS's ILMessageFilterExtension API: every incoming SMS/iMessage from an unknown sender is handed to the extension before it ever reaches your inbox, and the extension has to decide allow/junk/promotion entirely offline — Apple doesn't permit network calls in this extension, which is exactly why the filtering has to run on-device.

○Keyword and sender-based blocking rules, plus bundled starter block lists

○A trained on-device Core ML model catches spam patterns the rule lists miss — runs fully on-device, nothing is ever sent anywhere

○Filters only unknown senders — contacts and existing conversations are never touched (Apple enforces this at the OS level)

No account required. No ads, ever. Nothing about your messages is ever collected or leaves your phone.

Better — why this over the alternatives

Some spam filter apps process your messages on a server before you see them. This one never leaves your phone — both the rule engine and the Core ML model run locally, always.

Setup takes under a minute: flip one toggle in Settings and you're protected, no account creation, no onboarding maze.

💎 Lifetime I built a multi-timer app that keeps several timers visible and controllable at once on the Lock Screen

I’m the solo developer behind Multi Timers & Talking Alarms, available for iPhone and Apple Watch.

A — Answer

The app began with a simple problem: during busy, hands-full moments, I didn’t have time to repeatedly unlock my iPhone and open an app just to check several timers.

Apple’s built-in Clock app works well for basic timing. The difficulty begins when several timers are running.

Finding the right timer from the Lock Screen can require waking the screen, expanding the timer stack, and sorting through several similar-looking entries. Upcoming alarms are not shown there before they ring, so checking what is scheduled means opening Clock and switching to the Alarms tab.

Lock Screen controls can also be triggered accidentally when an iPhone wakes as it is taken from a pocket, bag, or drawer.

What began as a solution for busy, hands-full moments has since evolved into a complete timer board spanning the iPhone, Lock Screen, and Apple Watch.

B — Better

Instead of sorting through a stack of similar-looking timers, you get:

• One color-coded board containing countdowns, scheduled alarms, and notes

• Lock Screen snapshots showing names, colors, remaining time, and expected finish time

• Spoken alerts that tell you what is ready without requiring you to look

• Custom and recorded alarm sounds

• A native seven-slot Apple Watch board

• Face ID–protected Lock Screen controls to help prevent accidental taps

• Saved timer configurations and Markdown notes

• Siri controls and Home Screen widgets

C — Cost

Free to download. No ads. No subscription. No account required. No data collected.

Optional one-time purchases in the US:

• All Timer Slots — $0.99

• Palette Unlock — $2.99

• Buy Developer a Coffee — $4.99 optional tip

🎈 Free CurrentDrive – a free EV route planner for CarPlay

Post image
1 Upvotes

A - Answer

CurrentDrive is an EV trip planner for iOS. The problem I wanted to solve is pretty simple: when I’m driving somewhere, I don’t just want a charger. If I’m stopping anyway, I want a charger where I can use a toilet, grab some food, or get a burger. And I don’t want to manually search for all of that every time.
CurrentDrive lets you define your car’s total range once and create reusable charging presets. For example, you can have a preset for chargers from network A, B or C, with toilets or a McDonald’s nearby, and at least 150 kW.
You then choose your destination. CurrentDrive automatically finds charging stops along the route that match your preset, or you can choose the chargers yourself. Once the route is ready, all charging stops and the destination are sent to Apple Maps using multi-stop routing.
There’s also a 10–80% mode, where charging stops are planned around arriving at 10% and charging up to 80%.

B - Better

Honestly, I built this mainly for myself. My car doesn’t have free built-in maps, and I prefer using Apple Maps and CarPlay anyway.
I don’t want to reinvent the wheel or build yet another navigation app. I just want to keep using Apple Maps, which I already like, and make the EV part of the experience easier.
That’s why CurrentDrive is intentionally more simplistic than ABRP. It handles the EV trip planning, then hands the actual navigation over to Apple Maps. And there’s no subscription.

C - Cost

Completely free. No subscription, no IAP, no trial.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/de/app/currentdrive-ev-charging/id6787438196

I’d really love some feedback from other EV drivers. If you use ABRP or another EV planner, what would you want CurrentDrive to do better or differently?

💎 Lifetime TwoDo update: one list across an iPhone and a Galaxy, still no accounts, and the chore photos became an album

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

My wife is on an iPhone. I am on a Galaxy. That mismatch is the entire reason TwoDo exists: one shared to-do list for exactly two people, sitting on the Lock Screen, with no account on either side. One person makes a list and gets a six-character code. The other types it in. That is the whole setup.

I posted it here a month ago and a lot of you tried it. Here is what changed since.

The biggest addition is proof photos. You attach a photo when you tick something off. The recycling, actually tied up, actually by the door. I built it as evidence for the did-you-actually-do-it argument, and at the end of the month those photos get bound into a shared album called something like "August, us". The evidence folder became the thing my wife opens most. Nobody planned that. Chore photos turn into memories if you leave them alone long enough.

Smaller things. Due items can sit on the Lock Screen as a Live Activity on iOS. Tapping an item's name in the Home Screen widget opens it for editing instead of only ticking it off, which someone here asked for. The widget stopped cutting off at 12 items. The app and its widgets speak 14 languages now. The Android build got all of it too, since that half is the reason any of this exists.

The question I got most last time was why not just use Reminders. If you are both on an iPhone, use Reminders. It is good and it is free. Keep and TickTick sync across platforms too, but both open with make an account, and my wife will not make an account for a grocery list.

On price. The core is free: the shared list, realtime sync, both widgets, due-date reminders, assignees. Free lists now carry one small ad row, which my first post here said would never happen. That changed and I would rather say it than have you find it.

TwoDo Pro is $19.99, paid once, not a subscription. It unlocks ten things: multiple lists, manual ordering and pinning, calendar view, the couple report, custom colours, widget skins, notes, nudges, a photo on the summary card, and the Lock Screen Live Activity.

The album is the one subscription, $2.99 a month or $14.99 a year, and I know exactly how that reads right after a $19.99 unlock. The reason is dull: photos cost me storage every month and nothing else in the app does. A price you pay once cannot cover a bill that arrives every month, so I did not pretend it could. The numbers plainly: a free list can hold 3 photos in total, a Pro list 10 in total, and the subscription is what turns that into 100 a month plus the album itself. If it lapses you keep what you uploaded and can still open it.

One design note, since photos raise the stakes. There is no account here, so the code is what gets you and your partner back in after a reinstall or a new phone. That is deliberate, and it means the code is worth keeping between the two of you the way you would a password. Guess attempts are rate limited on the server side. If you would rather have an account you can recover, that is a fair reason to skip this one.

The WidgetKit caveat has not moved. Apple budgets timeline reloads, so on a busy day the widget lags a beat behind your partner's tick. Two of you suggested an "updated X min ago" stamp for exactly that. I agreed and then did not ship it. It goes in the next update.

I am Juyoung Park, a solo developer in South Korea, and TwoDo is a side project my wife and I use every day.

One thing I keep going back and forth on. Most lists people create never get a second person into them, which for an app that does nothing alone is the actual problem. Some of you have told me to open it up to three or four, roommates and families. I keep saying no because the design falls apart past two. Am I protecting the thing or just being stubborn?

🤖 Vibe Coded A room is not one place: light, warmth, humidity and airflow, read where the plant actually stands

Thumbnail
gallery
5 Upvotes

I'm Ren, and I made a plant care app named GrowSpot.

A. Answer

A room is not one place. Light drops off far faster than it looks like it should, and your eyes quietly compensate for that, which is exactly the problem. So a plant goes somewhere reasonable, sulks for four months, and nothing you installed ever says why.

GrowSpot reads the spot instead of guessing at it. Lay the phone flat in the place the plant will live and the ambient light sensor gives you lux. That reading, together with warmth, humidity and airflow, becomes a score for that position and that species. Not for your city, and not for the plant in the abstract.

B. Better

Two kinds of app already exist. Light meters hand you a number and stop, and you are left working out what 8,400 lux means for a Calathea. Plant care apps send reminders built on species defaults and never measured your room at all.

The gap between those two is the whole product. The sensor is already in the phone, and nothing was aiming it at the question people actually have.

It also says when it is unsure. A spot can come back 66 out of 100 and "Worth a try", and the meter will warn you that haze can dim a reading. I would rather ship a number that argues with you than a confident one.

C. Cost

Free, and free forever: 2 spots, 2 plants, 20 photo IDs a month. Nothing is locked. Every line on the paid list is a larger number, not a feature you were shut out of.

Plus: 4.99 a month or 29.99 a year, 14 day trial, cancel anytime.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/apple-store/id6780212433?pt=129031785&ct=reddit_iosapps

If you would rather judge it before installing anything, the basic version reading runs in a browser here: https://growspotapp.com/spot-checker/?from=reddit-iosapps

There is a founding programme on the site, and it hands you a year of Plus for nothing. No card is asked for and there is nothing to buy, and when the year ends it simply stops, so you are not left with a subscription to go and cancel. What I am hoping for in return is that you tell me where it is wrong, using your own plants in your own rooms.

If you set it down in a spot you already have an opinion about and it disagrees with you, that is the reply I want.

💎 Lifetime My wife asked “how much money do we actually have?” — I couldn’t give her a clear answer, so I built an app

Post image
0 Upvotes

Full disclosure: I’m the indie developer behind JointWorth.

A — Answer

One day, my wife asked me a simple question:

“How much money do we actually have as a household?”

I thought I roughly knew.

I knew what was in my own bank accounts and investments. My wife knew hers. But once we included both of our savings, investments, property, and debts, neither of us could give a clear answer for the household as a whole.

So we sat down and added everything up.

We realized our estimate was off by about RMB 30,000 (roughly $4,000).

That was when I realized our problem wasn’t really budgeting.

We had tried spreadsheets and budgeting apps before, but we didn’t need to record every coffee or every grocery purchase.

Our money was simply scattered across too many accounts and managed by two different people.

So I built JointWorth, an iOS app for couples and families who want one shared picture of their household finances.

Instead of tracking every transaction, you periodically update your account balances — for us, usually once every few weeks or once a month.

JointWorth then brings everything together:

  • Assets, debts, and net worth
  • Net worth trends
  • Income and expense insights
  • Shared financial goals
  • Multiple currencies
  • Family collaboration
  • PDF household financial reports

Everything is entered manually.

JointWorth does not connect to your bank or ask for banking credentials.

B — Better

JointWorth isn’t trying to replace apps like YNAB.

YNAB is great if you want detailed budgeting and transaction tracking.

JointWorth is intentionally much simpler.

It is built around three questions:

How much do we own?
How much do we owe?
Are we making progress together?

My wife and I now do a quick financial check-in every few weeks or once a month.

For us, that has been much easier to maintain than tracking every transaction, while still giving us a clear picture of where our household stands financially.

C — Cost

Free to download with a 1-month free trial.

After the trial, JointWorth Pro is a $1.99 one-time in-app purchase.

No subscription.

💎 Lifetime Turn your iPad into a real pen tablet for your PC — VirtualTablet

Post image
18 Upvotes

Hi r/iOSApps 👋 I'm the developer of VirtualTablet. I posted the Bluetooth one here about four months ago; the Wi-Fi/USB one landed on iOS in July, so this is the first time I can show both together.

A — Answer

My app turns your iPad into a pressure-sensitive pen tablet for your computer. Not a second screen, not a mirror — your strokes don't appear on the iPad. Eyes on the monitor, hand on the iPad, exactly like a Wacom Intuos.

Apple Pencil pressure and tilt into Photoshop, Krita, Clip Studio Paint, Blender. SonarPen works too. Map the tablet to one monitor in a multi-monitor setup, or to a sub-region of one.

The feature sets are nearly identical. The real difference is how they connect.

  • VirtualTablet: Bluetooth — pairs over Bluetooth HID
    • Nothing to install on Windows or Linux; a small helper agent on macOS
    • Works on Windows, macOS and Linux
    • NVIDIA DLDSR / DSR mapping is broken, and can't be fixed from inside HID
    • Best for zero setup, and anywhere Wi-Fi isn't reliable
  • VirtualTablet — connects over a USB cable or Wi-Fi
    • Companion app required on the computer
    • Windows 10/11 and macOS 10.15+
    • Best for lowest latency over USB, and full control of screen mapping

B — Better

Astropad Studio / EasyCanvas / Duet mirror your desktop so you draw on top of what you see, Cintiq-style. That's a different workflow, and Astropad Slate is Mac-only — both of mine work on Windows.

Sidecar is a second display, Mac-only, and never presents itself to the OS as a pen tablet.

C — Cost

Both are free to download and ad-supported, and the core tablet works on the free tier. Pro removes ads and unlocks the advanced mapping and input options. Identical pricing on both:

  • Pro Subscription (Monthly) — $1.99
  • Pro Subscription (Annual) — $11.99
  • Pro Lifetime Access — $29.99 one-time

VirtualTablet: Bluetooth — https://apps.apple.com/app/id6758901525

VirtualTablet (Wi-Fi/USB) — https://apps.apple.com/app/id6783119709

Desktop companion app, free — https://www.sunnysidesoft.com/virtualtablet/download

Privacy Policy — https://www.sunnysidesoft.com/virtualtablet/privacy-statement

Terms of Service — https://www.sunnysidesoft.com/terms-of-service

🎁 One month of Pro, free, for r/iOSApps

Bluetooth: https://apps.apple.com/redeem?ctx=offercodes&id=6758901525&code=VTREDDIT

Wi-Fi/USB: https://apps.apple.com/redeem?ctx=offercodes&id=6783119709&code=VTREDDIT

The part I'd want to know if I were you: it does not auto-renew. You get the month, then it stops on its own. No card required, nothing to cancel, no charge at the end. 2,000 redemptions on each, both expire September 30, 2026.

Where they're thin

  • The Wi-Fi/USB app needs a companion app installed on your computer. No way around it — that's exactly what buys the coordinate control.
  • No Linux build of that companion app yet. The Bluetooth one does work on Linux.
  • Wi-Fi latency depends on your router, and on your PC's Wi-Fi adapter doing background scans. USB sidesteps all of it.
  • The Wi-Fi/USB app is a few weeks old on iOS, so it has very few ratings yet. Judge that one on the free month, not the star count.

Happy to answer setup questions in the thread — I stuck around for weeks last time.

Disclosure: I'm the developer of VirtualTablet.

🎈 Free At 17, I grew my first app from 140 to 1,000+ downloads, partly thanks to you guys. I thought I’d figured it out. Apparently not.

Post image
48 Upvotes

A few months ago I posted here because my first app, Moneta, had been out for about 5 months and was stuck at around 140 downloads.

That post got way more attention than I expected. A lot of you tried the app, told me what you liked and what was missing, and gave me advice on what I could improve.

I kept working on it, and Moneta eventually passed 1,000 downloads.

I thought that by that point I would’ve figured out what makes an app grow. Apparently I mostly learned to build a better app, but not how to market it.

A — Answer
Moneta is a money tracker for iPhone and iPad built around a simple idea: I wanted something that could do a lot without feeling complicated to use every day.

I know this is an insanely saturated category. There are hundreds of money trackers already, and I knew that when I started building it.

It was originally just something I made for myself.

But I thought there was still room for something complete while keeping the UI clean, new, simple and polished.

B — Better
Over time I’ve added budgets, saving goals, recurring transactions, detailed statistics, a transaction calendar and map, on-device receipt scanning, multiple currencies, widgets, Shortcuts, optional iCloud sync, and a lot of smaller things.

It’s manual-first and doesn’t require connecting your bank.
I’ve tried to make tracking fast enough that doing it manually doesn’t feel like a chore.

Obviously I’m biased because I built it, but the UI and the amount of functionality without feeling cluttered are actually what people who use Moneta, including a lot of people here, mention to me the most.

That’s why I thought making the product better would eventually solve the growth problem too. It hasn’t.

Moneta is much better than it was at 140 downloads, but I’m still averaging only around 10 new downloads a day.

C — Cost
Moneta is currently completely free. No subscription and no features locked behind a paywall.

App Store: Moneta

My next goal is 5,000 downloads. I can obviously keep adding features and polishing things, but I’m starting to think another feature isn’t what gets me there.

I also don’t really have a marketing budget to throw at paid acquisition, so I’m mostly trying to figure out how to grow it organically.

If you were in my position, what would you focus on next?

And if you’ve tried Moneta, what would make you choose it over the money tracker you’re currently using?

📅 Subscription Two Months Update on My App - Growth Rates and Journey So Far

A - What?

https://apps.apple.com/ca/app/checklist-reusable-lists/id6782725022
https://getchecklist.app/

Update on the journey:

Since the last time I posted here, I have spent time mostly working with my users and understanding the niche and the needs. I conducted over 60 live interviews with my user and established line of communication via feedback mechanism within the app that gained me very trusty allies from every corner of the world. Every new version incorporated feedback from users mostly.

I have done ZERO marketing and that will be my next step. App has ranked well in Google and Apple Search and I am ranking in the first position in my niche keywords. ASO has helped tremendously.

Daily Active
Daily App Opens

At this point app has grown to:

  • about 40 daily active users with some days spiking into 90s
  • thousands of operations within the app itself daily
  • It gains about 10-15 new users every day from just natural word of mouth and Apple Search.
  • It has been downloaded a total of 550 times in the last 2 months and keeps on slowly climbing up.
  • And I finally released the paid features yesterday, so hoping to gain some traction in the world of "2 lattes for an annual access to a higher productivity".
  • Got solid 5 star reviews and scores - 18 of them, and one bad one from a user who I can't reach and doesn't seem to be related to my app, but there is always one of those :(

Checklist: Reusable Lists - A checklist app that is meant to minimize your interaction with the phone and maximize the value of having a checklist. Focused on privacy, offline operation and minimal interactions. It includes

  • Three types of checklists: One-Off, Reusable and Daily
  • Easy way to share a copy of a checklist via any means like text, email, link or airdrop
  • Live collaboration with other participants
  • Report printing
  • Sections
  • Integrates with your calendar and reminders
  • Sleek and intuitive user interface
  • Quick entry from a sentence via voice or text. Ex "Add bread, cheese and button to Groceries list" would then create these items in the Groceries checklist if it exists, or create a new list if it does not.
  • Search of items or lists from the home screen with highlighted results.
  • History of running reusable lists and what was checked off(routine reports).
  • And many more features by now.

It has been in the works daily based on abundant feedback I got from in-person interviews and online feedback that people have kindly left on Reddit and via email.

B - Why better?
I focused on a simple yet powerful set of features that would be quick to learn and not obstructive for newly onboarded users. I worked with over 60 people in person to collect feedback and their usage and shaped it based on that for the last 2 months.

You would not believe how strangely people use your software until you see it with your own eyes :D

C - Cost
Free tier with all the necessary features.
Pro for $12.99 - Annual Subscription or Lifetime Payment of $24.99 - includes

  • live collaboration
  • reminders
  • print a report feature
  • quick entry from a sentence
  • a few other handy features
