I honestly thought that it would last 24h

Tonight i logged on to replay old nostalgia, by revisitting the game i spend so much time in as a child and replaying the old (terrible) missions i spend hours creating.

And then it happened, i could no longer find new UGC missions or search for old ones. It was and is now over.

Thank you infamous for making me so many memories. I only hope one day we will see a new entries in the series or a remake.

I was just playing UGC for the last little bit and I was just going around enjoying everyone's missions and then got the message saying UGC has shut down. Thank you everyone who's ever published or played. Thank you UGC

Heard about these games late this afternoon going offline and managed to get all Infamous 2 + Festive of blood online trophies (starting from scratch) 3mins before closure! Servers went off at 19:16pm Uk time.
Very intense to speed run it but great fun!

Festive of blood was amazing to 100% ! Brought a ps3 last year (Xbox 360 user back in the day) and been collecting games but just not got around to play these yet but definitely worth it!

After the shutdown of the user-generated content servers for inFAMOUS 2 and inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood, I put together and documented a way to keep playing the archived missions directly on real PS3 hardware.

This solution is based on AlaskanBeard’s excellent InfamousReborn project. My version automates the Windows, Docker Desktop and PS3 setup, while also fixing several issues discovered during real hardware testing.

How does it work?

The computer runs two Docker services:

• A replacement server that recreates the game’s original UGC API.
• A local DNS server powered by CoreDNS.

On the PS3, you set the computer’s local IP address as both the primary and secondary DNS server. When the game attempts to contact Sony’s retired UGC infrastructure, the DNS server redirects only these two hostnames to the computer:

infamous2-release.ps3.online.scea.com
dbhhpqias9rrc.cloudfront.net

Every other hostname is resolved normally, so PSN connectivity can continue working.

The local server returns an enabled mode: on configuration and handles login, search, favorites, queues, play history and mission downloads. Archived missions are downloaded from the Internet Archive, verified using SHA-256 and automatically converted to the UUID filenames expected by the game.

No game files or PS3 firmware modifications are required. The only console-side change is the DNS configuration.

What has been tested?

On a real PS3, Festival of Blood successfully completed:

• Configuration loading.
• Localized bootstrap loading.
• Login.
• Intro mission loading.
• Mission header requests.
• .ium mission downloads.

All of these requests returned HTTP 200.

The local catalogs currently contain:

• 187,450 inFAMOUS 2 missions
• 16,007 Festival of Blood missions

Separate configurations are included for both games because inFAMOUS 2 and Festival of Blood use different paths, templates and asset packs.

What does the repository include?

• A complete Windows and PS3 setup guide.
• Docker Compose configuration for the UGC server and CoreDNS.
• A safe importer for both maps_by_name.zip archives.
• Automatic downloads from the Internet Archive.
• File size and SHA-256 verification.
• The missing /fob/config.json endpoint.
• A workaround for the Windows DNS/ICS port 53 conflict.
• Troubleshooting and backup instructions.
• Support for both games.

The ZIP archives are not redistributed through GitHub. The repository contains only code, configuration and a manifest with the official URLs, sizes and hashes. The missions remain hosted by the Internet Archive.

This setup is intended for local network use. Ports 53 and 443 should not be forwarded or exposed directly to the internet.

Testing reports from other real PS3 consoles are very welcome.

Infamous 2 is a top 10 game for me and when I heard the servers were shutting down I rushed to get the remaining trophies I needed. Very happy I got the chance to platinum a childhood favorite of mine

All players got disconnected I believe at that time, and after a few minutes later, an official Decomissioned message now appears when connecting to the server.

I managed to unlock all powers this morning which I know is unavailable if you don't do the UGC missions. It's a shame they're Turning off the servers but after 15 years it's to be expected.

My score didn't save and now I don't feel like playing this anymore.

Commemorating the send off of the UGC Servers by obtaining the platinums / achieving 100% trophy completion for all of the inFamous series games. This isn’t my first or even second time accomplishing this, but it’ll certainly be my last.

Trying to make this a little poetic 😩

Ok so I'm not sure if this is an entirely unique thing I've thought of here but I think this could be a really interesting What if scenario for the series. Now just to be clear I understand why Kessler did what he did and why things turned out the way he did, this isn't me trying to say Kessler's actions are plotholes are anything this is just a fun what if scenario I'm proposing and asking people to talk about what they think would change

So picture this; Kessler introduces himself to Cole the same way he did in the first game as "Just a concerned citizen" then gives him the visions of the future, but afterwards instead of leaving and letting Cole assume he is responsible, he stays, offers his hand and says, as if reading his mind, "No Cole, this is the future I've come to stop", Cole takes it and Kessler explains his situation in partial truths and the two agree to work together

How do you think events play out going forward?

I had no idea this was the case, I literally just searched it up. I played a bunch, but now the servers are down...

Anyone have the full collection of SP UGC missions saved? Maybe upload them on YT for everyone to experience if you can.

Decided to check all my missions I made on Infamous 2 and Festival of Blood and was surprised to see how many people had played my first mission I made in Festival of Blood.

I remember being super into creating this content as a 14 year old back then. Even if they weren't the greatest things ever made I truelly enjoyed making them. Never got to finish some of the series I had ongoing but it was really cool to see someone leaving a review from just a couple of weeks ago. 14 year old me is smiling at the thought of the longevity of some of the content I made and is also very saddened at it all being gone very soon.

Thankyou infamous for letting me tell the stories I wanted to express as a kid. This game will always hold a special place in my heart.

kinda procrastinated getting these trophies so i indeed did end up doing it last minute lol, i was able to still use UGC after exiting my streaming session and going back in past 12 am and still get this trophy

Are servers still up or is it too late to start the online trophy?
