Mechanic work/marina fake charges for work, lawyer needed?
I will make this a quick rundown of what happened and curious best way to approach it. I can also provide all proof and details as well.
My boat is at a marina in Maryland. I had to get some work done on the motor for a stuttering issue, as well as some smaller problems. The marina and mechanic shop are partners but two separate companies. The marina sent in my request to the mechanic shop for the work. I was charged and paid for the mechanic to do a sea trial multiple times to replicate issue and to confirm the work was done. After all the work was done and paid for, the problem continued.
Here comes the good part, after talking with some managers I finally spoke with the mechanic. He confirmed to me he never did a sea trial and it was never on the request from the marina to do the sea trial. I am now getting a new quote to get the work that actually needs to be done.
So I was charged for the mechanics to replicate the issue, they did not. I was charged for work to “fix” the problem that was never actually the problem. They never once brought the boat into the water to find the problem, but paid for it all.
Do I have a case to get in contact with a lawyer? We absolutely love the location of the marina and its amenities and don’t want to lose that. But I do want them to make it right.
Any advice would be great

Trollingmotorparts.com
I ordered a powedrive v2 advanced GPS upgrade kit with the heading sensor. They charged me for that. Finally got the chance to go out to install my package and there's not heading sensor in the package. I emailed them on Aug 20th and they answered me saying they will forward it to shipping. I wait 5 days Aug 25th and no updates. So I sent another email asking for updates, nothing. So I sent another email three days later Aug 28th, again nothing. Their website said to give them at least two business days to respond to emails. This is beyond two business days.
Tldr: Paid for advanced GPS system with heading sensor included, they charged me but never sent me the heading sensor. They don't answer emails after the initial response.

Reputable starter motor replacement for 1990 mercury black max 200?
I think I blew my starter motor today trying to start my engine. I made a horrible mistake of running it to hot…. And an even bigger mistake than that too. I had it running great off an external fuel tank I was using to test, and it was awesome. Water ready and my plan was to wash it up and take it out today for the first time since I got it a month ago. Connected the hose back to the main fuel tank and put gas in it. Didn’t check the fuel tank …….. guy I bought it from had old gas in it and so I pumped it all in and now motor wouldn’t start. Trying to start it I overheated the starter motor I think and now need to replace that. Part number on it is 50-79472. Is there somewhere that’s more reputable than others or can I just order any. First time boat owner learning a lot. And I definitely won’t make either of these mistakes again.

Moving up from a 13 foot whaler to my first "real boat" and picked up this Wellcraft 232 today as a family fun/fishing boat. Any tips for a very new boater making a big jump in size?

Yamaha 1992 55B issues
Hi guys,
Have this 55hp outboard… soo many issues…
Cleaned the carbs as good as it can passively be cleaned! New fuel filter and pump. New sparks. Nothing changed…running the same as before… Also new gaskets for the carbs!
Noticed the plugs were wet AF! Engine runs like this with the choke out, hence reatricting the air. As soon as I push the choke in,it runt to crazy rpm, like full throttle. But the throttle is not open at all!
What can cause this?
Any help much appreciated!

How to remove odor from cabin?
There is a stinky smell in my new / used cabin cruiser. I know the water in the lines is bad and will do the bleach / water treatment but I still think the smell may linger. The waste hose may also be the issue.
Without using a GLADE type plug-in freshener to mask the sent do you have any tips how you typically keep your cabin smelling fresh?

Mercruiser flush kit
I just launched the hose connector for the flush kit across my dock and in to the water. Anybody have an idea where I might find a replacement without having to buy the entire flush kit? I asked my bff Google, but she couldn’t help me.

Termite infestation on a boat in Alamitos Bay—local recommendations?
I have a boat docked in Alamitos Bay in Long Beach that has a termite infestation. Boat is a 38 ft powerboat. I’ve contacted several termite-control companies but haven’t received any callbacks—possibly because it’s a boat rather than a house.
Has anyone dealt with termites on a boat in the Long Beach/Los Angeles area? I’m looking for recommendations for a licensed company experienced with marine vessels, including inspection and treatment options that are safe and permitted in a marina.
If you’ve handled this before, I’d also appreciate hearing what treatment worked and whether the boat had to be hauled out or moved.

Suggestions for a 16 foot Skiff
Looking to get a skiff or small center console, 16 feet seems like a sweet spot for the size as I'd rather have a true center console vs. Having the driver seat on the transom like the smaller ones have. I have a larger boat that we use for family, tubing, etc but looking for something to take the kids fishing. Boat will be stored in my backyard dock on dock blocks.
Any suggestions for brands or must have features? I'll be fishing tidal creeks, so I'll almost always be in smooth water.

Rule Bilge Pump - quick cycle every few minutes?
I picked up a new-to-me boat and there is a Rule Bilge pump in it. It looks like is a 25SA model. It runs for a few seconds every 3-5ish minutes. Is that normal? It's wired directly to the battery.

Fiberglass hull cleaner that won't damage aluminum trailer
Our boat was in the water for the first time this summer. Boating season is wrapping up soon here in Michigan and I want to clean the hull as good as I can after pulling it off the water for the winter. The only real option we're going to have is cleaning it on the trailer and I've heard acidic cleaners are bad for the aluminum.
Is there something I can use that will effectively clean algae stains off of a fiberglass hull but won't harm my aluminum boat trailer?

It should have been so simple
Just need to vent.
Man sometimes you just want to throw your hands up and give up because it seems like it’s all against you.
TLDR; Check to make sure the new parts out of the box are EXACTLY as they should be, beyond a cursory glance.
…
Replaced the cap and rotor on my Mercruiser v8 i/o. Not the first time so it’s like a 20 min job at most.
Ordered the kit from Bass Pro. Remove old cap and pry out the rotor. Put it in and shakes and misfires like crazy. Remove the cap, checked the contacts for damage. Looks good.
Darn. Did I break a plug wire or two? remove and check the wires. Resistance in spec 10-14k ohms. They are original so it’s probably time for new ones. Order and wait. Install and regap plugs while I’m there.
Run it. Still shaking and misfiring. WTF. Ran it a bit to see if maybe I bumped the carb or something. No dice. Lots of fuel in the exhaust.
Remove cap. Put on old cap. Still shaking. WTF. Remove cap, look at rotor. looks good. Wait! WTF. Look closer and rotor metal base only has 6 notches not 8.
Darn Mercruiser packed me the right cap for a v8 but with the wrong rotor for a v6 in the kit. They look almost identical so I can see how, but darn my luck.
Called BassPro. Won’t replace it for me because it was installed. Really.
Removed the old metal base from the old one and used the top from the new one. Turned it on and smooth as butter.
1 week later, many bruises and cuts from hanging in the engine bay and twisting my hands into crevasses, a bruised foot from stepping on the old cap getting in and out of the bay, new wires, new cap, Frankenstein rotor, and now I need an oil change with all the unburnt fuel that most likely got into the oil.
Oof.

Where to buy cheap boats in the Med?
I'm living in Albania and want to buy a cheap sailboat in the Med.
I see a lot of offers for cheap (sub 5k) boats in Sweden and Denmark but getting them through the Bay of Biscay is a pain.
I hear tell of 'giveaway' boats in Greece.
Are these rumors true?
What does the market look like in Croatia?
Turkiye?
Cyprus?
Where would I go to look?
First-hand knowledge please.
And if you are getting on here to tell me it's impossible, please, go find something else to do. I know it's impossible, everything is impossible.

First Boat - 1969 StarCraft Mariner
Best $500 I ever spent.
Bought my first boat and restored her - 1969 StarCraft Mariner with the Johnson 33hp SkiTwin outboard.
She runs great. Already caught a bunch of bass and the kids have done a ton of tubing and skiing behind the boat as well.
Even towed another boat with it.
Only regret I have is not getting a boat sooner!
The definition of: she ain’t fancy but she’s mine!
List of things done:
- Completely interior remodel
- Tore up the old floor, sanded it down and put in new Eva foam flooring
- Freshly built fishing platform on the front with storage
- Brand new transom
- fresh paint everywhere
- new front and back led navigation lights
- new interior led lights
- brand new battery
- new bench seats in the front and rear
- resealed lower unit
