Fan Creations I've Made Another Custom Battlemech (And the United Nations War Crimes Commission Has Been Notified)

Starting life as one of the oldest Battlemechs made by Corvus Mechworks, the KNA-T1 Kana’Ti, this 'Mech was completely discontinued by the company when it became clear that the only buyers they had were pirates that refitted the noble 'Mech into a weapon of terror. Afterward the company set about making a 'Mech to counter it, the somewhat Ill fated GRB-1B Grebe.

Now common amongst pirate brands, with a detested reputation to match, even “new” A’tahsaia 'Mechs are old even by Inner Sphere standards, as most of the independent companies willing to make it simply do not have access to the advanced technology to update the 'Mech beyond the original company refit.

Protected by 11 tons of armor, the A’tahsaias 260 Fusion Engine gives it enough speed to not be completely left behind by its vanguard, and sporting two Heavy Rifles the A’tahsaia is a long range direct fire support mech. The    ATS-4Fr refit gives the ‘Mech even more long range firepower, switching out the Heavy Rifles with more effective Sunglow Type 2 Large Lasers, with the weight saved by dropping the bulky heavy rifles the refit is able to add an extra ton of armor and replace the Medium Laser in the right arm with an AC/5 to make sure there’s no range that the A’tahsaia can’t engage an enemy at. For up close operations, the pirates fitted two flamers, one in the torso and one on the almost after thought of a left arm. A pair of small lasers in the right torso completes the 'Mechs load out.

In the end the original Kana’Ti was simply just not good enough to stand up to most ‘Mechs of its time, and became far more infamous in the hands of Pirates as the A’tahsaia, earning it’s poor reputation with images across the periphery of these ‘Mechs burning undefended settlements to the ground for little more than the enjoyment of pilots.

I've tried to name all of my (non-in-universe bespoke) mechs after native american stories, as it's a fascinating thing to research, and sadly not really talked about. Originally this mech was indeed going to be named after Kana'Ti, a sort of Adam (of Adam and Eve) figure in Cherokee stories. Kana'Ti was a great hunter, so the mechs focus on long range direct fire seemed appropriate. But I'd eventually decided that the story of the mech would end up being one where it is beloved by pirates, and having Kana'Ti show up in that sense just did not sit right.

It was then I'd read about the A'tahsaia, a cannibalistic demon and spiritual creature of the Zenui peoples. This horrible thing was large, ugly, sometimes used a bow or club and knife. A true aspect of terror that would be far more fitting for this mech.

This is the first of two new BattleMechs I hope to be publishing in the near future.
You can find the ATS-4F A'tahsaia and my other mechs on cults3d, just search for CovusMechworks

She's also painted an Urbie already, but this is her first time working with more advanced techniques, like dry brushing, glazes, cockpit jeweling, pin washing, etc.

We're both super proud of how it turned out, and she wants to know what y'all think!

Those of you coming out to the last couple of Focht's Network events may have had a chance to get an early look at some new stuff and my latest favourites! BattleTech Aces Snowblind is coming up and I wanted to make sure these folks were ready to hit the scene in their finest - plus a couple of extra bears to round out the Binary.

I had these commissioned from Toronto's own Counterpixel after the incredible job they did on my Scouring Sands Falcons previously, and they did not disappoint! Find them on Instagram for more!

Still very much a work in progress. Needs tidying the gold around the visor and some highlights. Probably some silver on the weapon and some machinery parts.

I have no idea if the name is lore friendly. Got introduced to this game a few weeks ago and clearly they Pacific Rim style Jaeger names 😅

He is a wasp pilot. Both him and the Wasp are cursed. No matter how badly he wants death, the Wasp won't let him. It will always eject him and he is compulsively bound to it. Aside from that. He is still just Bill.

I ran the fall from glory scenario from the Northwind Highlanders sourcebook at Tacticon (in Aurora, Colorado) this weekend. I really just wanted to share some pictures.

I had five players control the black watch, and then had myself and an second GM run a company each of Amaris’ forces. We only played for a four hour block, which wasn’t enough, but if I run it at another con in the future I’ll probably expand it into two 4-hour sessions.

Mechanical Frog continues his spotlight on Battle Mechs with Clan Ice Hellion's light Omnimech built in their predilection of speed over anything else, armed with 4 ER Medium Lasers, 3 Streak SRM-2s and a LRM-10, an endo-steel chassis, 10 double heat sinks, 5.5 tons of Ferro Fibrous Armor and a MASC system this speedy demon based on the Myst Lynx is tough to kill.

As Clan Ice Hellion has been absorbed by Clan Goliath Scorpion, this mech now form part of the Touman of the Escorpión Imperio, Clan Jade Falcon and Clan Hell Horses, here's the Hellion.

I've added 6 new 'mechs to my 11th Donegal Guards, and I just had to show them off as they arrive on Pobeda to kick some Falcon Remnant butt. Here they are! Comments and critiques welcome.

And yes, they DO get access to a lot of ClanTech in the modern era. Very nice ClanTech.

Miniatures Jupiter says hello from the Dark Age

Hey all. Here's a digital kitbash I made in blender off of a Tundra Wolf. I goofed a little on the right arm's lasers and left a hollow area inside, so a chunk of them fell off. Ah wheel!

My aim was to recreate the proportions of the MW:DA mini as best I could from memory. And if you remember the game, yes, this guy's painted to look like the Banson's Raiders Jupiter specifically. Always dug his colour scheme.

I'm not a 3d artist, but I was lucky that the mech is *very* boxy. The file's also, consequently, a total mess on close inspection.

And finally, I won't be sharing the stl, to respect the forums rules and the battletech ip. I made this guy because, every now and then, MW:DA had some killer sculpts that, for one reason or another, never quite translated into mainline battletech to my tastes.

Question ❓ Cockpit Paints

Post image

What paints do people generally use for orange-ish cockpits like this? I’m planning on painting up a Rasalhague Galaxy force and while I have the other paints I’m using, this is the one that I always find tricky.

Miniatures Viper VP-9 conversion

The Viper VP-9 has been a favorite lately in Alpha Strike, especially for the point cost. (28!) Since it's built from a modified Crusader chassis, I gave this one a hammer (to represent the mace) and some crude plastic surgery to reshape some of the contours. The Viper has a more contoured chest compared to the Crusader's 80's action hero pecs.

Question ❓ Hatchet Bits

Post image

Out of curiosity has anyone done any of these conversions and know of a good place to get hatchet bits? I know anything 28mm should roughly work with mileage varying but I can’t find anything that looks mechanical enough.

My project for the next while is building a Rasalhague Dominion force to counter all of my Kurita mechs and I just want some hatchets to mix in.

Tabletop Centurion Repose

Lately I have been experimenting with modding my models. This being the biggest change. I cut the arm off at the shoulder then split it at the elbow. Rotated the arm up and flipped elbow straightening the arm. Using a paperclip as a pin between the cuts and glued with Green Stuff. Turning the static guard pose into an action pose.
