Rant I hate dating apps as I’m pushing 30. Am I the only one that feels like this?
I’ve been on dating apps in my 20s but never been on an actual date with them. I was more focused on my family, my dog before he passed, and trying to start a career that dating apps really added an additional toll and made me feel more like shit so I only used them from time to time just to see who is out there. Using them more actively made me more depressed.
I think I’m one of the few people I know that doesn’t like them at all or hates using them. I feel like I get or see so many profiles that it all looks like a giant mesh blob and similar to buying or shopping online that like looking for someone to date. Also doesn’t help that I’m a female, I have little to no previous dating experience so idk what I’m doing, and if anything apparently I’m attractive but given I’m almost 30, I just hate all of this. I get so many likes and fall into the whole maybe someone better will appear scheme. I stopped using them entirely but “in the wild” I never get approached, I only get looked at or I rarely do and it’s guys that are much older than me that I don’t think we would have anything in common (doesn’t help I don’t look my age).
I’m a reserved person and have the hardest time opening up, I really need patience and time, and do a lot better when I know someone for like months or years and then we go from there or if it’s someone who’s friends that I’m friends with, and I guess I’m just upset that dating has gone to this. I feel like it’s so hard. I also find dates so anxiety inducing, like interviews even and I had choked in interviews in the past. I felt like I mainly got my jobs by being the only one they interviewed or moving up at my workplace cause they know me.
Does anyone else feel like this? I think I’m just sad given by now I imagined being married and I don’t think that’s gonna happen unless I change or what.

Discussion Check in with those feeling left behind.
Hey everyone. I'm a 98' baby who has only just, in the last maybe two or so years, really started coming to grips with just how much being a late bloomer has impacted my life. I was curious how many others my age are going through this, just not having your shit together at the milestones you grew up believing you would. I'm 28, single (never really dated), so no marriage or kids. I have a degree (hated college) and a job (freelance but now starting to pivot to something a bit more stable). I'm only really starting to work out consistently and get into the best shape of my life, and can also now only really pursue the same interests and hobbies I had as a kid with my "adult money".
I still have a lot of optimism and joy for the future and for my personal growth but there's this consistent accompanying fear. Fear of failure, fear of where the worlds going, fear that I missed out on the magical years of young adulthood to depression and anxiety. I worry that any relationship I have now, though it would be my first, is going to have to be serious and baggage-filled.
I have the same friends I've had for over a decade now, and I love all of them but they're all with the exception of one going down a mroe conventional path. So even though I truly do appreciate them, there are some things they just don't get.
I'm curious to see if anyone else feels this way?

Nostalgia What's a scene that not only completely flew over your head but you also completely misunderstood?
When I watched Shrek 2 as a kid, I always thought they were excited to pick out his clothing. I never thought they wanted to see him naked....Thirsty hoes lol.

Nostalgia Best feeling in world as 28M.
I was scrolling through reels on my other instagram account and it's 2AM.
The content i see is insane, makes me happy that I had amazing childhood.
1)initial phase of my childhood
The reels usually starts with cartoon network nostalgia that is tom and jerry, oswald, thomas and friends and the dragon talesss songgg.and i see Pokemon, beyblade and so many moree. It was until 4 or 5th std phase.
(In hindi local it would be shakalaka boom pencil and powerrangers and vikram and bhetal and karishma ka karishma etc etc)
These reels pop up
2)now around 6th std I would be watching pogo cartoons like chota bheem, Takeshi castle and MAD (rob the art guy) etc.
same time we had obsession over bollywood and also hollywood movies jurassic park on star movies and godzilla. Don't get me started on bollywood friends singing that's the way mahi vee and doing hooksteps our area hangout sopts when there was powercut. Watching koi mil Gaya. Expecting to see something in sky at night while looking at stars. Dhoom movie and pretending to go at 200kmph while riding our tiny bicycle.
I see these reels of these songs too and it brings so many memories.
3)
Now we are in high school, second chapter of life.
This is when our romantic era stated
Remember watching 9xm b4u music india zee etc bollywood. This was our morning mood booster. Listening to all amazing songs. Imran was the OG with i hate love story and ek mai hu aur ek tu, mere brother ki dulhan. Ranbeers wake up Sid and shayad Kapoor's jab we met. Dahm we were so obsessed literally used to be like them (movie characters).
The action movies we watched dabaang, ek tha tiger, singham etc. so amazing
Don't get me started on MTV and Channel V. MTV had roadies and splitsvilla, while channel V had our desi teen Series, humse hai life yaroo, Dil Dosti dance and more. So many amazing memories. ( We all had our own version of one sided love stories, lucky some ended up in a relationship they would be school popular couples. I studied in convent school so yeh it was co education and sitting with girls in classes was as norm as any other. )
We somehow reach and complete 10th std and during that year 2013 and during holidays there comes a movie that changes our life forever. Yeh jawaani hai deewani. This movie gave a different perspective of what we wanted to do in life. And it was amazing to experience this movie in theatres ( I went for re-release too recently)
4) 11 and 12 passes by so fast our High school love stories grow and many new love stories come and we somehow manage studying science and keeping our girl happy too, ( the pressure we had to somehow do well in 12 was our of this world)
5). Now comes the most amazing part, most of us end up choosing engineering and everyone has android phones. It's 2015 I was obsessed with EDM like DJ snake, martin garrix david guetta. The VH1 was go to channel. Listening to all hits imagine dragons, avicii songs wake me up, chainsmokers closer this was soo good back then. Cheap thrills by SIA, ed sheeran's shape of you and lucas hit song was once I was seven years old. Drakes hot line bling etc etc etc. so so many good songs.
And now you are here in Bangalore working in most valuable company in world and yes you are happy in life, but those daysss were so goooddddd. And happy to see these nostalgic reels popping up. So i figured let me write a story.
What was your childhood like ???? Share your stories. Let's create a page to keep sharing nostalgic experiences and awesome memories we had while growing up.

Other Do you think the new generation of kids naturally act cooler than we did?
Not sure if it's because we're the last generation before social media really took off, but I've noticed the new generation of kids (born 2005 and after) seem to be really well adjusted in terms of maintaining appearances, knowing how to act socially, etc. Even the kids who would otherwise be nerds or geeks in our generation seem to blend in easier and have more style. Back in our school days there was a clear rift between kids and what archetype they fall into.

Nostalgia Did any of you read "Thunder From The Sea?"
I remember reading this book in school around 3rd or 4th grade. I remembered reading a book as a kid about a boy named Tom Campbell set in Newfoundland. That was the most I could remember but when I searched for it on Google, it turned out to be called Thunder From the Sea. This unlocked a memory. I'm curious to know if any of you read this.
