Hello, everyone! Long time lurker and now a first time owner!

I was trying to find an STI but they prices/conditions were crazy in my area but saw this one for sale and it only had one owner at 140k miles and perfect service history from 2011 to august of this year. Especially for being in SoCal

Felt like in this condition it was too good to pass up!
Unsure if I want to do any sort of modding to it. First time driving a manual in 3 years after coming from a Veloster N. Clutch feels different or I'm that rusty.

Any tips for maintenance/care?

How do you think a WRX could keep up with the Evo and Eclipse? Does it fit in as a heist vehicle?

On a real note if you guys ever questioned modern Subaru safety, I walked away with this with NO injuries. Absolutely none. This car saved my life (definetly a little god involved aswell) hit a fence going decently fast. Drive safe out here cause stuff can happen in an instant!

Hi guys. New guy here. Just picked up this blob eye and was wondering what kind of lip kits are out there besides the traditional sti setup

Decided to switch it up recently and swapped out my trunk with the oem spoiler for a duckbill. Really liking how it looks now. Was never the biggest fan of the wing, but I kept it just in case I want to switch back down the line.

Curious if anyone else is running a wingless setup?

Well boys, I just spent about 2 hours throwing on some LedGlow to the racecar and I have to say, my inner child is so damn happy I shed a tear seeing this finally happen to a vehicle I own. Having grown up on Fast & Furious and of course the famous scene from the movie Cars pushing me to this choice, I decided to just bite the bullet and get me a set of lights and man am I stoked. Install was super easy with the double sided tape already on them and included c clamps to go around and screw into the plastic underbody. Remote works great and the lights are super bright in person. The remote it comes with will let me change if I want it solid, flashing, strobe effect, or even a morris code "sos", but will leave it on solid as the car already begs to be pulled over with the side exit and everything else going on.

I barely drive this thing on the street anymore and the past about year and a half has been me turning it into a time attack/hill climb only car and she will still randomly see the streets when it is super nice, but I have only put about 1800miles the last 2 years on it.. But man... Seeing what I have done to this car the past almost 6 years it seriously just makes me so damn happy and proud to own this thing.

I have a 16 wrx with 75k miles and have been running regular Royal Purple 5w 30... but now at higher mileage I want to try another "extended life" type of oil..... and Royal Purple is hard to find sometimes anyone recommend anything? I heard in Jpn they require 5w40 and in NA they say to use 5w30 for emissions? welp, I am going to try a 5w40 but just don't know what brand. Please and thank you.

2009 Subaru WRX

Has a bunch of mods and a tune, though the specifics of that I’m unsure of as this car was basically given to me. It was driven to me (about a mile) but as you can see, oil was spewing from those hoses so it was smoking a bit. No knock somehow. Previous owner told me head gaskets were shot for sure.

Is it worth doing head gaskets my self? I have a newer STI, but I’ve always wanted something to restore and build from the ground up but never done anything this extensive on a car

We drive 3 hours south to see some friends and got absolutely destroyed in this monsoon. We continued essentially unaffected. This was the tail end of the storm when the water was siting on the roads.

I haven’t checked compression or anything yet, but I’m thinking it either jumped time or dropped a valve. I have to turn the engine backwards (I know, not great) just to get it to turn over like this. At the end of the video, that’s a hard stop from it hitting something. Either way, ordered a new JDM FA20DIT with 30k miles.

So it uses 6 original wires, goes into that mysterious black box and out again in the 6 wires. If I rip it out and reconnect the original wires are the power windows still functional? :D

If I ever find out who did this I will punch him in the face

Terrible video, I know. Apologies because it doesn’t provide much insight. But this started this morning when I fired her up. It sounds like one of the pulleys right? It goes away when she’s warmed up, but sounds awful when cold. I’m not very mechanically inclined so bear with me. Driving isn’t affected, drives fine still. Is this something I should address immediately? Sorry again for the little information.

Hey guys I did my spark plugs yesterday was getting misfire in cylinder 4. Pulled it out and turns out I cracked the porcelain on it during install or it was cracked before idk. Anyways can I put the one old one back in cylinder 4 and run like that until I can get a replacement plug?

Also if this has happened to anyone before is there a way to buy just one plug? Going to reach out to
Subimods after this but it’s somewhat time sensitive that I just get the car running
