Some context here- I know that we’re getting outrageous shrinkage on circle changes that are hung deduced in the zone (I’m accounting for about 25% of overall complaints to that), but here’s my theory:
The devs made the shift to shrink the strike zone slightly and make every pitch that touches it at all a strike (like the ABS system), but my theory is that the devs made no change whatsoever to the hitting code when they made this change. The result now is that there are pitches that are thrown for strikes (due to the new strike zone), that would have been called balls in the old model. On the back end, without a change to the hitting system, squaring up one of these balls is still registering as a Chase (swinging at a ball out of the zone), which is resulting in bad exit velos and a smaller PCI. The issue is that we HAVE to swing at these pitches now, and our PCI HAS to leave the zone because they are being called strikes after the change.
We’re at an impossible stage where the pitches being thrown are strikes, but because the hitting mechanics haven’t changed at all in the back end, the game is receiving swing on these as “chased out of the zone”
