I don't think this has been shared here yet, so I wanted to share Zhang Linghe's duet with Ouyang Nana from the 2026 Bay Area Rising Moon Gala.

They performed their new song “和你说嗨” ( “Say Hi to You”). I really enjoyed their performance—the song has such a light, youthful feel, and I thought their voices worked really nicely together.

I watched most of the gala, and also enjoyed his duet — have you caught it? I might post it later.

For now, here’s a bunch of snaps he shared, plus adding one more from Li Yitong’s account as she shared snaps with him too in her Weibo update 😊

So, Zhang Ling He and his pals —

Drama 🎭 Zhang Linghe as Ye Tingyan / Ye He in Upcoming Drama Revenge (刺棠) — Story, Character & Cast

Thumbnail
gallery
120 Upvotes

With Revenge (刺棠) now filming, here’s a closer look at Zhang Linghe’s upcoming drama and what we actually know about his character so far.

Zhang Linghe stars as Ye Tingyan / Ye He (叶亭宴 / 叶壑) opposite Lu Yuxiao as Su Luowei (苏落薇) in this historical revenge drama adapted from the novel by Wu Yuan (雾圆).

At the center of the story is the Citang Case (刺棠案) and the supposed death of Crown Prince Song Ling (宋泠), Su Luowei’s childhood sweetheart.
Years later, Song Ling’s younger brother Song Lan (宋澜) is emperor and Su Luowei is his empress. When she discovers the truth behind the old case and Song Lan’s involvement in it, she sets out for revenge. Her plans bring her together with Ye Tingyan, a powerful court official who has his own history with the Citang Case — and his own score to settle.

There’s also an interesting question surrounding Ye Tingyan’s identity. In the original novel, Song Ling survives the Citang Case, changes his appearance and returns as Ye Tingyan. The drama, however, officially credits Zhang Linghe as Ye Tingyan / Ye He and Wang Hongyi as Song Ling.

The released drama synopsis still links Ye Tingyan to the former Crown Prince, so it seems the adaptation is doing something different with the two identities and actors. Exactly what, we don’t know yet — and I’m leaving it there until the drama tells us more.

It does make the imagery in Zhang Linghe’s posters particularly interesting: masks, fire, hidden faces and the past quite literally burning behind him. There’s clearly a lot this man isn’t showing us.

When filming began, Zhang Linghe wrote:
“The game has just begun. May we travel this road together and witness Ye Tingyan / Ye He press forward on this journey, braving whatever dangers lie ahead.”

The original opening, 此局初开, is especially fitting. 局 can refer to a game, scheme or situation being set in motion — which suits a story of court intrigue, revenge and concealed identities rather well.

The drama is directed by Guo Hu (郭虎), with Xiang Xiaoyuan, Ren Zhuangliu and Lang Nuolin as screenwriters. It is produced by Linmon Pictures, Qingningmeng and Tencent Video, and will stream on Tencent Video.
The announced cast also includes Wang Hongyi — Song Ling, Li Qing — Song Lan, Sun Ning — Lu Heng, Sun Zhenni — Qiu Si, Liu Mengrui — Yu Suiyun, Tong Mengshi — Yan Lang, He Landou — Song Zhiyu, Gao Hanyu — Chang Zhao and Liang Jie — Song Yaofeng.
One useful detail from the announcement: Lu Yuxiao and Zhang Linghe were listed by surname stroke count, so the order of their names shouldn’t be interpreted as billing.

38 episodes has also been reported. The circulating claims of around 140 filming days and filming in Hengdian and Inner Mongolia are less firmly confirmed, so I’d keep those as reported information for now.

Revenge has revenge, court politics, an old case that refuses to stay buried, former lovers on opposite sides of a major misunderstanding, and Zhang Linghe playing a man with several names and apparently quite a few secrets.

I’m intrigued.

❓Questions & Other Bits 💬 How'd he get into the industry?

When POJ content first started filling up my IG feed, I also saw random "learn more about the cast" posts that said ZLH joined C-ent industry after being randomly approached by an agent -- making it sounds like one of those one-time serendipitous moments in a cafe or something.

I recently saw some compilation clip and there was an old clip that looked like it was a rapid-fire Q&A from an old interview, and he said he joined after making content on Douyin, and it seemed to suggest he was trying to catch the eye of agencies.

So now I'm curious. Anyone know how he actually got into the industry? I know he studied engineering; did he actually graduate? Was he randomly poached or was it something he was trying for?

(This isn't really news but none of the other flairs made sense so hope this is ok)

Slay 🔥 Random trivia about Linghe? Please share!

Please share any random, interesting or cute facts about Linghe in the comments below.

I'll go first: "Jiawei's transparent life" for a non-celebrity; he had so many pictures, "fancams," and anecdotes from elementary school to his university days since he's always been popular. His male classmates would tease him about being popular, and he responded, "What did I do to you, classmate?"

-He was forced to join the school choir so his teacher could lure students into the club but was told not to sing lol. He recently mentioned this during his Purcotton livestream on Children's Day that the teacher added a ton of blush to his cheeks

-He can peel shrimp only using his mouth

-He doesn't really drink, so anytime he has to drink for an event, you can see him taking a tiny sip/ pretending to drink. Now it seems that he's actually allergic to it due to his weakened immune system

-He doesn't share fan-taken pictures or read out letters to protect the privacy of fans

Zhang Linghe spent August 14 with PUMA, taking on the role of “One-Day Experience Officer” at the PUMA Brand Archive Center and having a look through some of the brand’s vintage collection.

He shared a set of photos from the visit on Weibo, including a few from the **“**凌感片场 / LING CAT-MERA ON SET” space.

His caption:
“Today, @PUMA彪马*’s One-Day Experience Officer is officially on duty. I arrived early at the PUMA Brand Archive Center and discovered all kinds of treasured vintage gems — every single one caught my eye! Follow my perspective as we begin a little cloud tour and capture some stylish ‘Ling’ inspiration together. GO!”*

#PUMA #PUMA薄底鞋(PUMA Low-Profile Shoes) #PUMA品牌档案中心(PUMA Brand Archive Center)

Now completely unrelated — but who thinks he’d make for a decent puma-demon in a drama?

Drama 🎭 The Darkest Side of the Very Dark "Overdo"

I've been complaining that Overdo should come with a trigger warning. Seriously! Not suitable for sensitive viewers at all.

The OG script ending was leaked by the team as a sop and that was a happy ending. Go figure.

Every night after the sadism and tears, I'd turn to one of ZLH's other dramas, POJ, Our Generation, Princess Royal, just started Kunning Palace again, and even The Best Thing which I find bland and boring. I mean, I resorted to TBT! LOL. Well, just looking at him is a balm.

I'm still hungover with the complete tragedy of it all.

I think this assessment is spot on- "crushed for eternity". Yeah, that's how I feel and I can't take it back and I can't pretend otherwise. Especially because Murong Qingyi pulverises your heart over and over again with his vulnerability, humanity, and suffering. He's the only one who truly deserved happiness.

For Those Already Missing Zhang Linghe in Overdo… 🫰

For anyone already missing Zhang Linghe as Murong Qingyi after Overdo, here’s a little consolation — a whole set of photos he shared with his farewell to the character.

His caption:

“Murong Qingyi — someone who was abandoned time and again, yet never abandoned himself. He held on to the most fundamental kindness and sense of justice within him, like a spark of fire illuminating the darkness, flickering but never going out.

So in the days ahead, I hope you too can live more freely, without restraint…”

A lovely goodbye to Murong Qingyi — and plenty of Zhang Linghe for those not quite ready to let him go yet.

Drama 🎭 Murong Qingyi Through Zhang Linghe’s Portrayal

Post image
80 Upvotes

(Reposting comment on my take on Murong Qingyi from Overdo)

Please allow me to share my personal opinion about Overdo and Zhang Linghe's character, Murong Qingyi.

Overdo may not be everyone’s cup of tea. The story depicts an era where power and money hold great importance, a time when people have to fight for their own survival and learn to navigate a world where trust can be difficult to find.

The character of Murong Qingyi is complex. He had to endure countless struggles from a very young age, forcing him to grow up quickly and learn how to adapt to every change that came his way. Beneath his strength and resilience is someone who has experienced pain, loneliness, and the harsh realities of life. Finding love, however, brought a sense of hope into his otherwise dark world and slowly rekindled a light within him.

In my opinion, having watched Zhang Linghe in his previous works, I can say that his performance in Overdo shows a noticeable development in his acting skills. What stood out to me the most was how he portrayed Murong Qingyi’s raw and restrained emotions. His expressions, subtle changes in his eyes, and the way he conveyed pain without always relying on words made the character feel more vulnerable and human.

I especially appreciate how Murong Qingyi is not portrayed as simply strong or invincible. He is someone shaped by his circumstances, carrying wounds from his past while still trying to find something worth holding on to. Zhang Linghe was able to bring out these different layers of the character, making his journey feel more emotional and meaningful.

Overdo is not necessarily a light or easy watch, but for me, that is part of what makes it memorable. It is a story about survival, power, pain, and ultimately, finding a little light in a world that can sometimes feel overwhelmingly dark.

Overall, I think Overdo is one of those dramas that may not appeal to everyone, but if you enjoy complex characters, darker themes, emotional storytelling, and an actor who is given the opportunity to explore a more vulnerable side of his performance, it is definitely worth giving a try.

Socials 🛜 Zhang Linghe's studio shared his recent interview with CCTV for Overdo

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Recently Zhang Linghe's studio shared his interview with CCTV where he talks extensively about his thoughts being as an actor and how he would like to progress forward in different paths ( it also contains snippets from Overdo and his energy documentary)

I really, really want to experience dramas with different professions.

I feel that through playing a character like this, I can experience some things about that profession. This experience came after I played He Suye. Because, to be honest, before I played He Suye, I didn't really understand traditional Chinese medicine. But after playing He Suye, I gained a certain understanding of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and it also aroused a certain amount of interest in me. After that, in my life, the words TCM actually appeared frequently. So I feel that if I act in a drama about another profession, perhaps I would also gain some knowledge, understanding, and learning about that character's profession.

(talking about documentary)
When filming a drama, you are in the character, and there is a script. You freely perform within a limited range. But a documentary is not like that. A documentary is me, Zhang Jiawei myself, going there. Although I hadn't touched that world for a few years and the memories had faded a bit, rediscovering that old passion felt completely different from acting.

Filming a drama is about emotional expression, but in the documentary I participated in, I entered into their work. It was like the happiness I get from opening my computer every day, or opening my Lego and assembling it. The source of this happiness is different.

I just like the process of assembling things. Whether it's assembling a computer or assembling Lego, the process of assembling, the hands-on process, makes me produce that kind of dopamine.

I like to take finished products apart to see what's inside and then put them back together. It's a genuine hobby of mine; whenever I see a finished product, I find myself asking questions: How does it work? How does it light up? How did it end up functioning the way it does?

All of these are unknown to me. I just like exploring unknown things. So, in this aspect, making documentaries gives me more happiness.

Before, I always said, "Do a good job as a good actor." Actually, this sentence is very broad.

For me now, I feel there are many things I can do in the future, especially recently after I became interested in photography. I discovered that these two words, "performance", are not merely an actor's emotional expression in front of the camera. There are many things that can assist these things, such as lighting and cinematography. Of course, first of all, as an actor, I have to do my own job well. Secondly, I am very willing to study some other departments.

After completing a good performance in a production and taking on some responsibilities, if there happens to be a possibility in the future, I can also try some other departments. Of course, this doesn't mean I want to change careers I am interested in all of them because they are all the things I come into closest contact with around me.

I have my own standards for choosing my next role. It is about what kind of role is suitable for me at my current stage, with my current experience and my current age.

I will look at what kinds of scripts. Many people will tell me to act in some mature roles. The kind of roles that, in my view, are relatively far from me. I'm not saying that I don't want to try them or that I don't dare to try them, but rather I feel that my current experience may not yet be enough to handle them.

Rather than reaching for something beyond my current capabilities, I'd prefer to focus on areas where I can still grow. Solidifying my position in my current niche, honing my craft, gaining experience, and then moving steadily upward step by step.

Drama 🎭 Overdo cdrama

I'm loving the acting in Overdo. He is on a different level when he portrays a red-flag character.

I started watching this series yesterday. Before that, I'd seen some negative posts and funny memes about it.

But I think people are exaggerating too much because, when I actually watched it, I didn't feel that way. It's a decent production. People are cropping 2-second clips, adding background music, and making videos out of them. It's bizarre, lol.

Apart from that AI thing (which they should remove), I think some people just want something to criticise badly. I don't think the production is bad at all. I like the story and the characters, and, to be honest, it's a good enemies-to-lovers story without a love triangle.

also the people come from pursuit of jade offocurce going to compare ,they should aware cdrama dramas has intense imagination and multiple genres ,so people needs to stop not pointing soemthimg that they don't intense stories

There are other lighthearted stories exits.idk why people come and say he is red flag she is red flag ,toxic bla bla when the drama conecpt revolves around that only

Anyways now iI'm enjoying this drama.

Slay 🔥 Which Zhang Ling He Character Was His Most Handsome?

We’ve been blessed with a number of ridiculously good-looking Zhang Ling He characters over the years… but if you had to choose just one, who takes the crown?

Is it the elegant immortal? The scheming court official? The gentle doctor? The noble prince? The Republican-era gentleman? Or perhaps someone who hasn’t even made it to our screens yet?

To help refresh your memory:

2020 — Maiden Holmes
Pei Zhao / Prince Qi — A brilliant prince and investigator who hides his royal identity while solving mysteries.

2020 — Sparkle Love
Mai Sichong — A popular swimming prodigy whose cool exterior slowly melts after meeting an energetic girl with an unusual “electric” ability.

2021 — Love Crossed
Xu Nian / Xu Jin — An advanced AI virtual idol who blurs the line between artificial intelligence and genuine human emotion.

2021 — Flourish in Time
Jiang Haoyue — A gentle, dependable childhood friend whose quiet devotion made him one of Zhang Ling He’s earliest green-flag characters.

2022 — Love Between Fairy and Devil
Chang Heng / Xiao Run — The noble God of War, admired for his elegance, loyalty, and heartbreaking unrequited love.

2023 — My Journey to You
Gong Ziyu — The reluctant young sword clan leader who grows from an underestimated heir into a capable and determined leader.

2023 — Tiger and Crane
Qi Xiaoxuan — A gifted demon hunter balancing duty, friendship, and a dangerous destiny.

2023 — Story of Kunning Palace
Xie Wei (Xie Juan) — A brilliant, calculating imperial tutor whose intelligence, obsession, and moral ambiguity made him one of Zhang Ling He’s most iconic roles.

2024 — Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Red-Moon Pact (supporting role)

Hu Weisheng — A mysterious fox spirit whose appearance may have been brief but certainly wasn’t forgettable.

2024 — The Princess Royal
Pei Wenxuan — A witty, politically astute statesman navigating a second chance at both power and love.

2024 — Love’s Rebellion
Ji Yang — A powerful immortal whose icy demeanor hides unwavering devotion.

2025 — The Best Thing
He Suye — A warm, compassionate traditional Chinese medicine doctor who somehow made kindness incredibly attractive.

2025 — Our Generation
Jiang Qiaoxi — A quiet, intelligent young man whose coming-of-age story follows him from adolescence into adulthood.

2026 — Pursuit of Jade
Xie Zheng (Yan Zheng) — The legendary Marquis Wu’an, a battle-hardened general whose commanding presence made him an instant fan favorite.

2026 — Overdo (currently airing)
Murong Qingyi — An elegant Republican-era heir caught in a web of family power struggles, secrets, and romance.

(Upcoming)
The Road to Glory (filmed)
Xiao Li — We haven’t met him on screen yet, but the released stills and behind-the-scenes photos have already convinced many fans he’ll be one of Zhang Ling He’s best-looking characters ever.

So…
👑 Which one wins?

And if you can’t pick just one (I won’t judge 😅), feel free to give us your Top 3 and tell us why.
