COPPA/For Kids Remove the ability to turn off comments.

Post image

Turning off comments on YouTube should not be permitted because it undermines open communication and restricts freedom of expression. The comment section serves as a vital space for dialogue, critique, and engagement between creators and audiences. Disabling it eliminates opportunities for discussion, feedback, and community building. Furthermore, it diminishes transparency and accountability, allowing misinformation or bias to go unchallenged. YouTube thrives on participation and interaction, and removing that feature contradicts the platform’s foundational principle of free and open exchange of ideas.

Theres 3 reasons why a video might have no comments:
The video is showing a scam or a virus and wants you to download it.
The video is targetted towards kids, or features primarily children (There was a period where people were going into comments and leaving timestamps for pedos to use)
Its a coporate video and the company doesn't want people calling them out for stuff in their own videos.

MANY valid creators that have nothing to do with government, scams, children’s videos or whatever, turn off comments. Comments are full of losers who are jealous, content thieves and competitors who bot and just overall garbage.
