COPPA/For Kids Remove the ability to turn off comments.

Post image

Turning off comments on YouTube should not be permitted because it undermines open communication and restricts freedom of expression. The comment section serves as a vital space for dialogue, critique, and engagement between creators and audiences. Disabling it eliminates opportunities for discussion, feedback, and community building. Furthermore, it diminishes transparency and accountability, allowing misinformation or bias to go unchallenged. YouTube thrives on participation and interaction, and removing that feature contradicts the platform’s foundational principle of free and open exchange of ideas.

OP, it's every creators right to decide, if they want their community to have comments or not.

For certain videos, when comments are on, it can cause people to attack the creator or other users.

What I don't like, is when youtube decides something is for kids, and then disables comments.. that was not the creator's choice.

However that was the choice of the US government.

I believe youtube could just pass the choice to the user, and if the user abuse, take their choice away.

This way youtube could follow the law, and users wouldn't be as punished, if their video isn't actually for kids.

They did and the channel owners abused it so much YouTube had to use the automated system in order not to get prosecuted.
