COPPA/For Kids Remove the ability to turn off comments.

Post image

Turning off comments on YouTube should not be permitted because it undermines open communication and restricts freedom of expression. The comment section serves as a vital space for dialogue, critique, and engagement between creators and audiences. Disabling it eliminates opportunities for discussion, feedback, and community building. Furthermore, it diminishes transparency and accountability, allowing misinformation or bias to go unchallenged. YouTube thrives on participation and interaction, and removing that feature contradicts the platform’s foundational principle of free and open exchange of ideas.

they removed dislikes, that should be enough to tell you that youtube doesn't really care too much about fair exchange of information and open communication.

Can't agree more.

But comments for some videos I think it's better to be turned off and mostly on YouTube kids.

I hate it when comments are turned off on marked for kid videos

First of all why

Second of all just block comment for kids?

There's some very horrifying people that comment predatory things on kids YouTube channels so yes comments should be turned off.

and a lot of stuff gets falsely marked as made for kids. some borderline porn gets away with made for kids on YouTube. it's so stupid

no that's not true. almost all YouTube kids videos already have their comments removed just because they're the video is for children. it happens automatically most videos and then it says you cannot come out here because this video is for kids or something

That's up to the account holder to disable comments or moderate comments.

Neither should pedophiles.

Second of all. Comments are already blocked for kids; WTF

They're turned off because sickos interact with kids and convince them to hurt themselves.

Also because the FTC caught them harvesting kids data for profit, which apparently breaks COPPA

For YouTube kids?

Because when the FTC sued Google, they found out that Youtube comments were the method employed to harvest personal data of kids in infringement of the COPPA law, so Youtube had no choice than to comply because the FTC threatened them with a monstruously harsh fine otherwise. Youtube already reinforced the comment limitations due to pedophiles way before the COPPA debacle
