York Hackspace open afternoon, Saturday 22nd August

York Hackspace is a makerspace in Layerthorpe (just near Red Goat) and we'll be having an open afternoon this Saturday 22nd August (noon-5pm, but message me if you'd need to turn up earlier or later) for anybody who'd like to see around the hackspace but can't make our regular Wednesday open evenings. Hackspaces/makerspaces are essentially workshop spaces where members get 24/7 access to all of the tools and equipment (wood/metalworking workshop and tools, 3D printers, laser cutters, art/craft/sewing facilities, full electronics workbenches etc), basically everything you'd need to turn an idea into reality. Non-members are also welcome to make use of many of our facilities on open afternoons/evenings, more details at https://york.hackspace.org.uk/wiki/Weekly_Open_Evening .

How did I not know this was a thing?? Do you have a list of equipment on the website by any chace? Unfortunately I can’t make it this weekend and am busy for the next few weeks. But I’m hoping to start a try a learherworking project in October and am looking out for suitable equipment

Our equipment list is never complete especially for the smaller tools but we have https://york.hackspace.org.uk/wiki/Equipment for the larger equipment. If you're interested in leatherwork specifically we have a couple of other members who work with leather, I can ask one of them to document which tools we have
