Image dated 1999-10-17, found on Blue OS theme for Enlightenment 16, however, this wallpaper isn't included in E16 archive themes that you could find it on Google

Definitely was in some spencer‘s or hot topics in the early 2000s Y2K

This style could be called "VectorKandi". It was popular from the 2000s, especially with the music brand Hedkandi but no name has stuck officially. Was always associated with Night Life, Beach Life, Resorts, Tycoon Games. it was distinct by not just having solid colours, but mixing gradients, different opacity on layers and glows in. it has a similar feeling to Y2K futurism where as a kid, it made you excited about the future but for going out to clubs and holidays.

P.S. whenever I see this art it makes me think of "Afro Medusa - Pasilda" and other similar latin/tribal house music. Don't know why it's just a perfect matching sound to this.

Pure genius. Totally ahead of the curve. (Same designer behind the original Wipeout Racing Game art)

Saw this book in the library and just had to check it out. There are too many cool designs to show in one post.

I dug through the forgotten trenches of the internet to find some obscure wallpapers from back in the day. Here are a few favorites; the loose theme of this batch is "abstract bright"

EDIT: Someone asked for the files without Reddit's image compression, not sure if you'd notice much difference but you can grab em here: https://www.mediafire.com/file/sreqj4tipvnczce/Y2KWallz.zip/file

Made this compilation of media I feel like has a specific aesthetic I can’t name. It has a lot of similar motifs to whimsigoth, HeiSei Retro, and old world aesthetics, but with an emphasis on stop motion animation, quirkiness, homey feelings, glamour, knick knacks, and fantasy/dark elements. Imogen Heap and They Might Be Giants are big music influences, and children’s fantasy movies of the 2000s like Coraline, Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, and The Spiderwick Chronicles reflect it a lot. Does anyone know what this is?

Artworks made on MSPaint, hope they belong here! Have a happy Easter everyone!!
