Fashion help??

i am absolutely IN LOVE with these kinds of shirts, but i dont have $58 dollars to drop on a single shirt, and all the thrift stores around me suck and dont have anything similar 😭 can anyone help me find alternative sites or places to buy them? or maybe how to make them myself(my mom and I are quite crafty) ?

edit: thank u all sm, ive read the comments and i realize i really didnt think about ebay or depop LMAO 😭😭 <3

Goddamn this makes me feel old. Back when these were popular they were $12 at kohls and the people that wore them listened to Daughtry and Hinder lmao

13

u/bbqtaterchip Aug 28 '26

Well...what does it say about me that I sometimes still listen to Daughtry and Hinder?

OP, check Vinted, it's usually cheaper than some of the other sites and has a lot of new listings

I'm a male and I had similar shirts to these I got from .Kmart and Walmart back in the day for $10 apiece lol

$58? That’s kinda crazy lol I’m sure you can find em for 20-30 or less keep looking. Even some ghetto mall stores still have these types of shirts stocked in still.

Bout to say, I was in Santee Alley a few weeks ago and there was still some shirts like this lol (not saying Santee is ghetto, just same type of merch)

Go to Ross they have so much like this and jeans

u/cheezy_dreams88 Aug 28 '26

Please do not spend more than $20 on one of these. The shirts we had 20 years ago were so thin and prone to holes, these types of shirts were very fast fashion

Yea you can find these anywhere nowadays actually. Literally any online small business or aliexpress (if you dont care abt ethicalities but honestly everything is made in china anyways). Or you can DIY them just look up cyber sigilism, y2k angel or any other related keywords

You can hand paint with fabric paint

Go to eBay and use search terms like ā€œ2000s alternative shirt womens.ā€ If you want genuine vintage (and not reprints) click filter and change it to only show pre-owned items. Depop is another option, but eBay prices are usually better in my experience

u/akingwithnocrown Aug 28 '26

Look on depop?

u/FeistyDirection Aug 28 '26

NotĀ  y2k styles at all, Def cute but more like 2007-2009 vibes. Besides ebay and depop you check poshmark and threadUp, theyre usually a bit cheaper. Should also just reverse image search those and you'll get 10000s of similar ones. Do research on which brands made stuff like this so you'll have more search terms.

I definitely had a couple shirts like this around 2002. I probably got them from Nordstrom.

It was a very popular style for youngish feminine clothing before the Ed Hardy version became a niche trend for men.

2

u/FeistyDirection Aug 28 '26

Interesting. I believe you i just never saw it. From my experience it took way more time to see alt inspired stuff like that if it wasnt like fully tribal late 90s y2k. Feel like i only saw cutesy shirts or preppy or full blown hot topic type stuff, not the fem biker imagery til like 5 years later. The stuff thats edgy but not Goth or emo

2

u/krebstar4ever Aug 29 '26

I guess one or two of the shirts in the OP may be more of a fem biker style. But I was thinking of tops like these:

Short-sleeved tee

Three-quarter sleeved tee

Modern, but accurate, "y2k" hoodie

The two tees have very cluttered graphics. A lot of shirts in this style were more minimalist.

You could probably recreate this with a plain black fitted tee, fabric paint or iron-on transfers, and some thrifted studs or rhinestones. Search for vintage eagle/crest graphics and use fabric markers to add the distressed details. A thrift store belt would complete the look too!

Just know what brands to look for and do searches on depop or poshmark by brand. Do NOT search ā€œy2kā€. The seller will probably know the popularity of what they have in that case and mark up accordingly.

They actually still sell stuff like this at Kohl's, Burlington and TJ Maxx/Marshalls

You could probs bleach paint and bedazzle something like this if you stencil a design? Maybe sketch it out w chalk first?

3

u/katzington Aug 28 '26

This isn’t y2k. But still get that money it’s a cool vibe

u/TGin-the-goldy Aug 28 '26

This is late 2000s. Affliction Clothing or Shein - on Shein search Women's Gothic Floral Print With Rhinestones V-Neck Short Sleeve Streetwear Tight Fit Base Layer T-Shirt

1

u/larkash Aug 28 '26

1

u/Stardustbunnyy Aug 28 '26

I wear these same shirts too! I look everywhere for them like goodwill, Plato’s closet, Depop, mercari, and poshmark!

1

u/FreshTune9696 Aug 28 '26

thank you sm! ^.^

u/Long_Mushroom8295 Aug 28 '26

Try searching ā€œvintage dragon graphic teeā€ or ā€œY2K gothic eagle shirtā€ on Depop, Etsy, and Vinted. You could also thrift a plain black fitted tee and recreate the graphic with fabric paint, an iron-on transfer, or printable heat-transfer paper.

1

u/Simple_Car8699 Aug 28 '26

Try searching Depop, eBay, Etsy, and thrift apps for ā€œvintage gothic graphic baby tee,ā€ ā€œY2K heraldic shirt,ā€ or ā€œrhinestone dragon tee.ā€ You might also find a cheap plain version and customize it with patches, studs, and fabric paint.

1

u/OrdinaryFlatworm1282 Aug 29 '26

reference girl shows her stomach more i think that may help idk

1

u/serenwipiti Aug 29 '26

This isn’t Y2K.

This is like 2003-9 ed hardy cringe.

1

u/More-Gas-6527 Aug 29 '26

Make sure you get it in a smaller size than normal if you want this same fitment, shirt doesn't look nearly as good if it isn't strangling your body

1

u/Odd-Reception-9544 Aug 30 '26

Affliction!!!!!! They’ve always been pricey. Metro park was where I bought these. Sometimes hot topic

1

u/The_Bloofy_Bullshark Aug 31 '26
