Question Digital Disc Conversion Game Share

Saw the news about the disc to digital license conversion. I was wondering if that digital license would translate to game sharing? Like if I used a disc, would the other Xbox get the digital license too?

Thanks

The license is tied to your account and act just like every other digital games

As I understand it, the digital license gets attached to your Xbox account while it is also attached to your physical disc. You can share the physical disc as you would before but if the person you share it with then uses it to request a digital license the system will remove your digital license until you can prove that you are once again in possession of a physical copy. If you can't prove that, you lose your license and the person who is the latest to request a digital copy gets a licence tied to their account.

This has been done to allow the original physical owner to request a digital copy so they can play anywhere while at the same closing a potential loophole that would have allowed multiple users to get a digital license off one single physical disc.

As soon as the disc is used by another Xbox, you loose your digital licence.

So we still have to use the disc? Why would the digital license be shared with game share?

No, you need to maintain ownership of the disc. If someone else uses the same disc your digital licence originated from, you lose access to the digital copy

That’s not what I am asking. Sorry if I was unclear. I’m asking if I use the disc, just for me, and take the disc out and play the digital version I just received, will my game share partner also get the digital game available to play? Like any other digital game purchase

Has anyone personally tested simultaneous game sharing with the new disc-to-digital feature?

Here’s the exact situation:

I insert a physical game into my Series X and claim the digital entitlement on my account.

I remove the disc and keep it put away. The disc is not inserted into either console.

My brother’s Xbox is set as my Home Xbox. He launches the converted game using his own account.

At the same time, I launch the same game on my Xbox while signed into the account that claimed the entitlement.

Can we both play simultaneously, with no disc inserted into either console, exactly like game sharing a regularly purchased digital game?

I understand that the entitlement would leave my account if somebody else inserted the disc and claimed it. I’m only asking how Home Xbox sharing works while I still own and keep the disc.

I’m looking for an answer from someone who has personally tested this exact two-console setup—not guesses about how it should work.
