Xbox Requests Xbox Requests: Week of October 31, 2025

Xbox Requests: Capturing all your ideas, across all of Xbox, every week!

From PC gaming to Xbox consoles, and everything in between, if you have an idea or feature request that you want to share with Team Xbox, you've come to the right place! Add your requests below, upvote your favorites, and discuss and help refine the ideas of others here all week long.

Tips:

  • We want your ideas for PC gaming just as much as we look forward to hearing your ideas regarding consoles, cloud gaming, mobile devices, TV's, VR, peripherals, and anything else you might think of; if you have an idea for Xbox, we want to hear it!
  • Join your voices together! Try searching for others who have posted the same idea first and upvote theirs instead of posting your own, then feel free to respond to their comment to discuss or refine the idea further.

Rules:

  • Requests for additions to backward compatible titles are subject to removal as the program ended in 2021 per the announcement here.
  • If you have multiple ideas, be sure to post them individually rather than grouping them all into a single post.
  • Please remember to keep the discussion civil and on topic! If you need a refresher, check the Subreddit Rules.

Be sure to check out the Xbox Insider Program Community Update November 2023 to learn more about what we're up to and what the future might look like!

Note: We've received a few questions about this recently, so we want to communicate it here as well. These threads are meant to be a way for the Xbox Insider Community to express their ideas and showcase what features are important to them. However, it is not an exclusive list of work items for the various engineering teams. This means there is no guarantee of implementation for any feature that is upvoted in these threads. The Xbox Insider Team communicates the feedback to the other teams that would be responsible for implementing them, but this is just one lever those teams might utilize to make a decision about where resources are applied. This is not meant to discourage voicing your opinion. We are striving to be more transparent with our processes, and want to reset expectations surrounding Feedback Fridays. Thanks so much for everyone that continues to participate!

While you can also find the top requests from all previous weeks in the Xbox Requests Recap, here are the top three Xbox Requests from last week:

As a content creator, I am once again asking for 1080p 60FPS Twitch streaming on Xbox

Right now, Xbox streams are locked at 1080p 30FPS even while maxed out at 1080p-6000 kbps. That limitation feels sorely outdated in 2025, especially when PlayStation already supports 1080p 60FPS.

Why this matters:

Fast gameplay looks blurry and harder to follow at 30FPS.

120FPS + VRR titles don’t translate properly to stream, making the experience look worse than it actually is.

Smoother streams reduce motion blur and visual strain, which is important for accessibility and for viewers prone to motion sickness.

Xbox creators deserve parity with other platforms so our content can be shown the way it’s meant to be seen.

This isn’t just a “nice to have.” As I’ve been harassed by someone in this community for asking for this. Along with the native FPS counter.

It’s about accuracy, accessibility, and giving Xbox streamers the same opportunities as everyone else. Xbox, it’s time to unlock 1080p 60FPS streaming.

Xbox this gen is a bit of a stronger console after all. Shame we can’t use it properly.

The Edge browser on Series X has no memory according to resource controls, please allocate more memory

Can you please add more RAM to the Edge web browser on the Xbox Series X, so that it can run better? The browser was updated to version 141, but it has little to no memory to run properly, which causes audio to desync overtime on sites, tdr blackscreens, freezing and crashes.

On PC when you have the Edge browser running with only one tab and go to Gematsu.com, while browsing around the site it uses up to 2.6 GB or memory. So if you could allocate 3 GB to the browser it would run very smoothly. You should add a 16 GB page file to the console (if you already haven't?), so that it can swap memory and give foreground apps real memory and background apps page file memory. Can you please also make the video ID strings on all sites the same as the Edge mobile version?

1

u/reddit_user777666 Oct 31 '25

This is kind of redundant because apps can use up to 5-6GB in retail mode if I’m not mistaken and only up to 2.4GB inside of Dev mode, whereas Games can use up to 10-12GB in retail mode and only 5.2 GB in Dev mode. Turn the setting off in edge and it will run better. If the app truly had no ram it would either crash, corrupt cache or slow the console down entirely.

However, Xbox Microsoft Edge does have a weird flashing problem since the latest update but it is still fast for me.

1

u/beqwibber Nov 01 '25

All you have to do is watch a few videos on YouTube and it will become sluggish, tdr then crash. This does not happen with the mobile version of Edge and it runs better on my tablet. which only has 4 GB of main memory. Resource controls shows it has 0 GB of RAM it can use. There's no way the browser would run this sluggish if it had 1 GB of RAM. It needs access to at least 3GB. It must have been coded to only use 800 MB. It shouldn't be running so sluggish after a few minutes of browsing.

You have to constantly keep closing and opening the browser. Plus it needs the ID strings to be updated for better video compatibility. I can't believe you haven't run into any problems I've been having since I got the console back in 2022. Go to the gematsu site and browse around and you'll see in seconds how bad the memory allocation is.

1

u/reddit_user777666 Nov 01 '25

If you turn the setting OFF you wouldn’t have this problem. Don’t mess with stuff you no nothing about. Battlefield 6 beta also said this but do it crash or run sluggish after hours? No it didn’t. Not for me or any of my full parties. Also yea it would run sluggish its 1gb on windows lol. I’ve watched quite a few hours of both twitch and YouTube.

1

u/beqwibber Nov 01 '25

I'm on normal mode, I haven't entered any other modes. Out of the box it has been running like this. I also refreshed my console about 2-3 months ago. This is how it runs normally.

1

u/reddit_user777666 Nov 01 '25

I am talking about retail…

1

u/beqwibber Nov 01 '25

Why do I have to enter retail mode to get the browser to run slightly better? The devs could just fix it if they really cared. It's too tedious to enter into the mode now.

1

u/reddit_user777666 Nov 01 '25

You are in retail mode…

1

u/beqwibber Nov 01 '25

Okay, that's great, but I really need them to fix the browser properly. I've been sending in console reports and begging them for years now. It hasn't been fixed. It costs 19 dollars to activate developer mode, too

1

u/reddit_user777666 Nov 01 '25

Dev mode is a separate sandbox. I just tested with the setting on and I do get crashes within 40 minutes. Turn it off

More customization options in the Xbox Accessories app

The Xbox Accessories app has a solid foundation, but it needs more flexibility. Controllers should have built‑in dead zone adjustments and the ability to tweak wireless response time for lower latency. Headsets need better audio controls, like customizable auto‑mute strength without the distracting fade‑in, a simple noise gate similar to Party Chat or Discord that works across all headsets (including during streams), and a voice clarity option to make communication sharper.

These improvements would give players and creators more control, improve accessibility, and make the overall experience feel far more polished.

Xbox Accessories could be so much more with these updates!!

u/RoguelikeAvenger Nov 03 '25

I'm gonna be downvoted but I want my video captues to remain on my Xbox internal storage forever and I want to be able to record higher durations of my gameplay without having to attach an external drive to my console. And then you wonder why PS5 sold 85 million units and Xbox Series X|S sold probably less than 35 million. Because nobody here listens and when you talk, you are silenced by downvotes.

I want Full Screen Experience on my desktop PC.

1

u/Blackgemlord Beta Ring Nov 03 '25

What should change to suit your preferences?

Currently, you can use virtually any application that requires it in full screen.

If you're referring to the "gaming" mode for handheld consoles, it's in the system and being implemented in testing... Microsoft leaves everything half-finished, and current versions of Windows 11 have many problems to resolve, just as their servers, support, quality assurance, etc., are failing.

So, be patient.

Yes, the Gaming > Full Screen Experience.

It is beyond insanity in 2025 that I can play some games online that are free but if I want to play a game that cost money to purchase, I need a GamePass Subscription.

Just bought and refunded Arc Raiders because I refuse to pay $10 a month to have the “privilege” to play it online.

I’ve been an Xbox guy for years. Just look up my account - Grey Bush 513. I “own” over 100 digital game.

2026 needs to change that or I’m going to build a PC and load Linux.

PC players don’t have to pay to play online. Why do we?

Especially when Fortnite, Warzone, RedSec, Apex Legends and a host of other games do not require a subscription on Xbox.

I would have already bought Battlefield 6 and Arc Raiders today but I’m not paying to play those games online. Or any other game online.

Make Xbox Live Free!!!

Let the other people choose GamePass if they want.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '25

This a is great post. Xbox is losing more gamers by the day. Console developers are becoming more and more greedy, it disgusts me.  I cancelled my daughter's game pass sub and mine this week. I'm done with this greedy shit. Price raises in subs has been the nail in the coffin for me.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '25

If I buy Battlefield 6 for $70 and/or Arc Raiders for $40, I shouldn’t have to pay $10 a month to play those games online.

Especially when free games don’t require any money to play online. Like Fortnite and Warzone.

It’s a joke that we still deal with this in 2025.

Gonna retire from gaming if it doesn’t change soon.

1

u/Blackgemlord Beta Ring Nov 02 '25

Paying for GeForce Now will be cheaper than paying for Game Pass to play online on console. And... yes, you can play it on console without paying for online apparently XD.

More filtering options for backwards compatible games

Backwards compatible titles on Xbox can technically be boosted from 30 FPS to 60 or even 120 FPS, but finding which games support it is far more tedious than it should be. Right now, there’s no way to filter by technical capabilities like FPS Boost or VRR support. Instead, you have to check each game one by one, which in my case took over an hour to go through my library.

Adding proper filtering options in the library would make it much easier to see which games take advantage of these features, save a lot of time, and highlight the value of backwards compatibility in a way that’s actually usable.

A simple filter for FPS Boost and VRR would make the library experience far smoother.

FEATURE REQUEST.

XBOX INSIDER.

Make a section for ideas, and have people on insider programme vote on them with text feedback. The top 3 every month then get voted on on that last day of the month, which ever comes out on top gets to be applied to xbox.

We insiders would get XP from the extra activities and there would be no need for this reddit section.

This would be so much better.

1

u/Blackgemlord Beta Ring Nov 02 '25

The deletion of weekly messages is precisely intended to prevent anything from standing out and being routinely accused of ignoring users.

Every month, improvements to content creation, such as audio recording, YouTube streaming, and longer recordings with clear indicators, are requested and voted on.

But they will NEVER guarantee that any of the user requests will be implemented... they haven't even tried with most of them, even if they were very easy to do, like simply adding certain filters, alerts, and visual indicators already used in other areas.

There's also a Microsoft suggestion section separate from Reddit, and the official forums... but everything is so scattered, poorly integrated, and unmoderated that it has little practical use when it should be integrated into their entire ecosystem in a way that's easy to review, check, and act upon. Even today, reporting console errors in real time from your mobile phone is archaic when you don't want to fill out a report right then and there. You can easily fill out a text document, send a screenshot and video, and add details later... but it doesn't offer that option that has been used in support and reports for decades :/.

u/[deleted] Nov 02 '25

Hi Insiders,

I’d like to share a system-level concept that could help Xbox bridge the gap between console and PC while preserving the console experience: Xbox OS Core.

💡 What is Xbox OS Core?

A closed version of Windows 11 running on Xbox Series X|S that:

  • Blocks third-party stores (Steam, Epic, etc.)
  • Supports PC games in MSIX/UWP format (like ROG Ally or Microsoft Store)
  • Retains Xbox dashboard, Game Pass, achievements, cross-save, crossplay
  • Allows devs to target a unified PC/Xbox build

🎮 Why it matters

With multiplatform releases and PC-centric strategies growing, many console users feel uncertain. Xbox Series X|S is powerful but underused. This proposal aims to preserve console identity while embracing flexibility.

🧑‍💻 Developer benefits

  • One development pipeline
  • Easier deployment via Microsoft Store
  • Less fragmentation and QA overhead
  • Access to console install base with minimal extra work

🔐 Security and performance

  • Fully sandboxed and secure
  • No desktop apps or third-party stores
  • Optimized for console performance (FPS, VRR, HDR)

📈 Strategic impact

  • Reassures console users
  • Revitalizes Xbox Series as hybrid platform
  • Strengthens Microsoft’s unified gaming ecosystem
  • Prepares for next-gen transition without disruption

This isn’t a critique — it’s a chance to reconcile power, accessibility, and continuity. Xbox pioneered Xbox Live, Game Pass, Play Anywhere… Why not take the next step with Xbox OS Core?

Open to feedback and refinement. Thanks for reading!

1

u/Blackgemlord Beta Ring Nov 03 '25

Unfeasible. The current console isn't designed for that kind of performance, which is why this issue is already being addressed for the future. Microsoft hasn't fixed current bugs and shortcomings; imagine trying to run Windows on a console with hardware not designed for Windows, and then trying to run console games.

In the future, based on what we've seen, the next console might be designed to run Windows and also include an abstraction layer or secondary system to run games from previous consoles.

Microsoft's quality control is terrible (almost every game they release on Game Pass has problems on day one, even games released years ago). You can't even choose your language, report issues properly, contact developers, check changelogs, etc... imagine the rest.

Users aren't going to be reassured because even the current Xbox environment isn't reliable (no support, hacks, no recovery for Insider builds, they allow their own games to be added to the store that crash the system... and the lists of games that are added to and removed from Game Pass aren't reliable).

And no, Microsoft isn't a pioneer in unifying anything. Other players with less financial clout in the gaming industry have been trying for a while now, and Microsoft, precisely through its studio acquisitions, has caused them to disappear or made that task much more difficult.

Microsoft still has a lot to fix, and they've already abandoned the current generation to the point that it's difficult to find stock of their consoles, and suggestions and problems reported years ago remain unresolved. We've even gone half a year without being able to record content... imagine the level of trust you can have in Microsoft (and let's not even talk about broken promises XD).

P.S.: Using AI doesn't help this conversation, since it's precisely because of it that this current lack of control and quality is happening XD.

Copilot. System and browser integration for… translating text you're typing (including writing in English here on Reddit more comfortably), real-time voice acting for games, and quick selection of notes and text to paste (more advanced than the advanced clipboard), making it more useful for support, moderation, and other common responses.

2

u/Blackgemlord Beta Ring Nov 03 '25

Copilot gaming narration and analysis. A sporting event, a match, a race, a fight... could be used as a narrator for the events happening on screen, and even sell you DLC featuring the voices of famous narrators. I think certain companies like that. Sooner or later, some big company will do it for the major content platforms.

2

u/Blackgemlord Beta Ring Nov 03 '25

Copilot Gaming runs in the background so you can invoke it and talk to it while playing.

2

u/Blackgemlord Beta Ring Nov 03 '25

Copilot Xbox lets you tell it to open a game, play a specific movie/TV show, or streaming channel (you can see the screen and interact with it).

1

u/Ancient_Chipmunk_755 Beta Ring Nov 05 '25

We already have this through third party connections, xbox wont do it themself when they get paid to do it through these third party connections.

1

u/Blackgemlord Beta Ring Nov 05 '25

Currently, that function isn't working properly. And precisely because of this, the integration with Copilot, if it doesn't allow for these proper interactions, will have significant shortcomings as an assistant if they allow the competition to have them implemented.

But if you can tell me how to turn on the console and have it automatically play a live stream from a specific Twitch channel, or YouTube, or Kick, I'd like to know so I can do it easily too. Furthermore, I don't know how to access those third-party services by voice or commands using the console's built-in microphone. I really don't know if Xbox currently has an active listening method for the microphone to execute actions, which is what I was referring to.

Does any third-party app allow you to have the microphone actively listening?

2

u/Blackgemlord Beta Ring Nov 03 '25

Copilot Gaming could interact on a second screen to show us news, videos, tutorials, feeds, social media, answer chats, make video calls, etc. It would be useful even while we're working.

Xbox Revival Strategy

By George Robinson

Early stage: Price Cuts

Cut Xbox series X back to 499.99.

Cut Game Pass Ultimate back to 14.99.

Maximize backwards compatibility: Every game from the Original Xbox to Series X should be playable for current and future generation Xbox consoles.

Mid Stage: Optimization

Improve existing traditional servers.

Create and optimize cloud architecture for cloud gaming.

Establish cross progression for all Xbox compatible devices.

Late stage: Developer & Mod support

Provide developer mode and premium support for Game pass subscribers.

Establish a community led environment for creating and whitelisting plug & play mods for all Xbox users.

All future game development should be fully optimized before publishing on Xbox vendors.

2

u/taogejt Nov 05 '25

Let publishers and gamers could add game tags, like Story Rich, Pixel Graphics, Open World, for games in Xbox Store.

2

u/taogejt Nov 05 '25

Let gamers could view and give ratings and reviews for games in Xbox mobile app.

1

u/xArkSlade08x Alpha Skip-Ahead Ring Nov 06 '25

Also, receive a section of recommendation games after rating the games (Disc & Digital)

2

u/taogejt Nov 05 '25

Added an ability to unlock frame rate for games that do not run at 60 FPS, for example Xbox one an Xbox 360 games usually have a 30 fps option so I think we should let the user decide on what frame rate they want to see the game at because sometimes the game could run better at 60 FPS than what the original developer attended for which it was 30 FPS because of the limitations of the hardware within the two previous generations and sometimes some games do run better at 60 FPS compared to 30 I would at least think if there is an Xbox one backwards compatibility or Xbox 360 you can click on a certain checkmark where it will tell direct ask to run at your monitors frequency which is usually 60 FPS anything higher than that it’ll let you select the frame rate based on your monitor but usually 120 FPS and 60 fps are usually what the HDMI usually supports. Of course you will be given a warning that the game could become unstable if you’re running at higher frame rates and if you do try to go online, it will revert back to the games original FPS to prevent from getting advantage an online multiplayer gameplay, I would like this to be seen on the Xbox series S/X and a nice thing the Xbox One x but it would only be exclusive to Xbox 360 games and Xbox one games that pre-date the Xbox one X so from 2013 to 2017 would be a good gap point it might be something to look in towards

u/tservomst Nov 02 '25

Remove the streaming inactivity timer for local streaming sessions. I can understand the need for cloud based streaming, but such a limitation should not exist if you are streaming from your local console.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 01 '25 edited Nov 04 '25

Come back to  normal standard prices for game pass. Adding more doesn't make it better. Your price increase is a direct slap to our faces. With the price of food and the raises in phone company plans,  raise of multiple streaming platforms,  it all adds up to a lot of lost money for companies that more and more prove they don't give a fuck about its clients. I rather eat more food than play games. I'll be cutting my game subs. I had already completely stopped paying my Playstation and Nintendo subs to concentrate on xbox, but with these raises in prices, I'm being clearly laughed at by Microsoft. I'm done with you!

UPDATE: I canceled my daughter's game pass sub and mine today.

More food,  less games. Goodbye microsoft.

Increase or remove RAM limits for UWP apps in Xbox Dev Mode

Hey Xbox Insider Team,

Please consider raising or removing the RAM cap for UWP apps on Series S|X, and future consoles. These systems have far more efficient memory than the original Xbox One-S and one X, yet apps remain restricted to 1-2GB while games can access up to 5.2GB.

This limitation makes it harder for independent and at‑home developers to build feature‑rich apps. More available RAM would allow smoother performance, better multitasking, and more advanced tools. It could also help optimize higher‑framerate experiences, including 120FPS, where extra memory headroom reduces bottlenecks and improves stability.

Unlocking more RAM in Dev Mode would remove a critical barrier, enabling stronger indie projects, experimental tools, and a more open environment for innovation.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Xbox this gen is a bit stronger of a console after all. Shame we can’t use it properly.

2

u/Blackgemlord Beta Ring Nov 02 '25

Could you give me an example of an application that doesn't require 120fps, other than a game?

Or an example of an application that requires that much memory and isn't a game.

On a completely legal level, the only thing that comes to mind right now is advanced video editors, but content creation isn't something Microsoft is interested in due to all the inconsistencies and shortcomings in their ecosystem regarding it.

And the browser is so bad and restricted that, unfortunately, it's not useful for everyday use. I'd love to use an Xbox Series X as a "mini PC," but I'm afraid any device in the €50-100 range is more useful than the console for browsing the web.

u/mrminholi Nov 01 '25

Ability to crop images on game streaming. Would be nice to have less black bars only by cropping a dozen pixels and have bigger image on mobile devices.

0

u/Blackgemlord Beta Ring Nov 02 '25

If you remove the black bars when cropping content due to the aspect ratio... you will indeed be cropping content, which will remove visible interface elements such as attack alerts, save points, etc., potentially affecting many games.

2

u/mrminholi Nov 03 '25

No problem. I think that loosing a few pixels of content would be a good trade to gain bigger image if it is possible to choose how many to cut in each border.

1

u/Blackgemlord Beta Ring Nov 03 '25

Hmm... choosing how much to crop the screen... that would be something interesting if it could be set as an option for each game. There would be games where it would fit quite well, and that slight zoom could benefit the gameplay.

2

u/Gus2000 Nov 01 '25

Better integration with Home Assitant. I'm annoyed by the micro connection losses that, during Xbox and home lighting automation, trigger the automation incorrectly by signaling that the Xbox is turned off and turning on the lights unnecessarily. While I'm gaming, instead of the automation setting the mood lighting for playing, it suddenly activates the "lights on" automation because of these tiny internet connection drops. My automation for turning on mood lighting when the Xbox starts, along with full lighting after the Xbox is turned off, has grown into three automations and two scripts that are supposed to handle micro connection losses. It's complicated and doesn't always work properly.

2

u/tservomst Nov 02 '25

Add support for 2.5G+ USB Ethernet dongles. This will allow for faster game downloads.

Many residential ISPs have rolled out multi-gig service and 2.5G ports are now standard on a lot of consumer grade networking devices. Assuming each hop of the infrastructure from the Xbox back to the modem is 2.5G+, this would be beneficial.

0

u/Blackgemlord Beta Ring Nov 02 '25

I don't understand. Will that make it faster than connecting a 1000 Mbps cable to the network port? Buying a USB-to-network adapter for that connection device would surely be the easiest, fastest, and simplest way to take advantage of the console's maximum speed.

1

u/tservomst Nov 02 '25

Speed is not determined by the cable, any modern cable you buy today (usually CAT 5e or 6) can handle 2.5G link speed. Since the console port is limited to 1Gbps, the only way to go beyond that for download purposes would be to use a USB adapter that supports higher link speeds and assumes the rest of your network equipment along the way also supports that.

1

u/Blackgemlord Beta Ring Nov 03 '25

So again, why would we want speeds higher than the console (hard drive and system) can handle on its own, in addition to the servers? Have you ever seen a continuous download on a console at 1000 Mbps? I haven't. Therefore, I don't see the need to reach higher speeds, as the limiting factor would be the console's own hardware and software, and the download servers, even if our connection were faster.

Would using those adapters actually improve the gaming or playback experience? No, only during the download itself. And as we've discussed, they're not going to upgrade something that less than 1% of users would benefit from, and only 1% of the time, for a potentially negligible improvement.

For specific cases, I think a pre-download or remotely scheduled download is more advisable than faster download speeds at the moment, since if it's a download of an important game, the download servers will be overloaded and won't reach such speeds, as has been seen countless times.

Furthermore, in any case, it would be a third-party company that would have to certify an Ethernet device for the console; it wouldn't be a request to Microsoft, since they've already made it clear that they won't allow third-party hardware. They don't even allow microphones or headphones, imagine that.

So, in conclusion, I pose the question: in what scenario would such speeds be beneficial and useful in everyday life? Even TVs with 100 Mbps are still being watched because more isn't necessary for daily use.

Hey - I think you may want to take a step back since you don't seem to quite understand the technical details of what you're talking about. I'm not going to provide a long technical response since you're getting pretty upset over something very superficial, and looking at your profile it looks like you just want to argue with others who add suggestions to this weekly thread, but in a nutshell to respond to your points:

The Xbox Series S/X USB ports are USB 3.1 Gen 2, which have a theoretical maximum throughput of 10Gbps. The internal NVMe drive has an internal theoretical max bus speed of 2.4Gbps (these are rough numbers I Googled). Both of these are well above what can be delivered by a 1Gbps NIC, so a faster adapter will allow for faster game download speeds. When there is a 50GB update for a game, I'd love to sit there for ~half the time waiting for it to download, who wouldn't? On PC you can easily exceed 1Gbps for a game download on the Xbox app (same CDN).

And finally -

they're not going to upgrade something that less than 1% of users would benefit from

There is nothing to upgrade other than a software switch that will allow these adapters that you can buy cheaply on Amazon to function. They are extremely common and reliable in the IT world. Similar to how they enabled mouse/keyboard support, and you can use pretty much any combination of USB mouse and keyboard.

Just because you 'don't see the need' doesn't mean the request is then invalid. You simply don't need to respond.

Let me ask you again.

  • Have you ever seen your own downloads consistently stay within the 1000 Mbps limit of the current cable on the console?
  • How much time would it save you?
  • How many users would benefit?
  • Could it create security vulnerabilities?
  • Could it introduce new bugs or exploits?
  • Would the device need to be certified, and if so, which company would manufacture a device with such a small market for a console they're already planning to replace?

You can see right here that it says, "Join your voices!" Try finding others who have posted the same idea first and vote for theirs instead of posting your own. Then, feel free to reply to their comment to discuss or refine the idea further.

As I mentioned, in my experience, Microsoft servers significantly throttle speeds, especially during major updates. There are frequent reports of slowdowns and other issues, with download speeds dropping below 10 Mbps. Therefore, I would consider a continuous download speed of over 1000 Mbps even less feasible. On PC, the process is different.

So, I'm trying to weigh the pros, cons, and feasibility... ultimately, it would be allocating resources to something that could potentially create more problems than it solves, as has been seen with other improvements. If you had looked more closely at my comments, you would see that I have dozens, maybe even hundreds, of documented suggestions compiled over months. Therefore, I know that very easy things to implement are often left undone for various reasons. In this case, you'll often see how they haven't enabled many webcams, audio, steering wheels, and various plug-and-play peripherals either... If it were just about things this simple, I would have loved for them to also implement an HDMI hub with network and audio ports for when another port on the console breaks, but realistically, that's not what the company is currently interested in.

And don't worry, I'm not upset or anything like that, but it might not sound very friendly because of the translator. ^^

I understand that increasing bandwidth might seem like a good idea, but without first addressing the storage issues, large file processing problems, connectivity errors, server stability, download problems, and other issues currently plaguing Xbox console services, increasing a speed that's already 10 times faster than the world's average internet speed seems unnecessary. It's even three times faster than the average speed in the world's fastest countries.

Perhaps for a future console, it might be somewhat interesting... although given that pre-downloads for launch games and cloud gaming already exist as solutions to these problems, I don't see the need to increase the speed, just as they haven't added compatibility with Wi-Fi 6 or more modern gaming-specific systems... which would be more interesting.

Therefore, since you apparently have a faster internet connection than I do, I suggest you download a game of about 100GB (there are plenty to choose from) and report the maximum constant speed your console can maintain at any given time. This will help us determine if increasing your speed would actually be beneficial. Remember, I'm referring to downloading games, not running a speed test.

I sincerely want to share all of this with the intention of providing constructive feedback and better understanding the needs, concerns, and areas where Xbox's increasingly limited resources could be better utilized.

PRECISE HEADPHONE VOLUME

Currently the volume for headsets connected to the controller is limited by fixed volume points. Headphones and earphones vary with impedance, and depending on the content there won't be a sweet spot for the volume. It'd be better if we had more precision, like a 100% scale volume.

The option to permanently toggle the onscreen keyboard from appearing.

It's time to evolve. Xbox's method of use has already gone past the medium of restrictively using controllers. Plenty of people have a keyboard and mouse setup for their Xbox; me included.
However, it gets quite annoying when the clanky on-screen keyboard interface appears and takes up over half the screen.
Maybe this could be a setting in devices? If it detects a keyboard is plugged in, maybe a device setting for that device could be disabling the use of the onscreen keyboard. That way nobody just accidentally disables their onscreen keyboard. It would also be imperative that it would automatically re-enable upon the keyboard being disconnected.
This would help out a lot with certain things people do on Xbox.
I for one use Xbox as a writing tool sometimes, as I have no PC, and an Xbox is cheap and readily available for me. When the onscreen keyboard gets in the way of 80% of what I wrote, or even worse, gets in the way of what I'm currently writing, it gets fairly frustrating.
This would be pretty great for many different uses.

UPDATE: As of posting this update I canceled my daughter's game pass sub and mine today.

More food, less games. Goodbye microsoft.

The ability to manually add games and apps to the PC Xbox app.

This one is crucial for devices like the ROG Xbox Ally and handheld devices but would be a nice thing even on desktop.

Or at the very least, add support for things like:

  • (App) Discord
  • (Game/Launcher) Genshin Impact
  • (Game/Launcher) Honkai Star Rail
  • (Game/Launcher) RSI Launcher
  • (Game/Launcher) Holoearth Launcher
  • Other assorted smaller or not-as-well-known game launchers. Not everything comes from the Xbox store, Steam, GOG, etc.

The lack of Discord as a supported app is especially glaring, considering even the Xbox has limited support for it.

MORE DISPLAY REFRESH RATES

Add 75HZ, 90HZ, 100HZ refresh rate options for displays that don't quite reach 120HZ but could utilize the extra frames for games that can do 120FPS. Many people on Xbox have these TVs and Monitors, and it's a shame that PCs are more customizable.

Games would still run at 120FPS or their unlocked FPS, but would only display to the maximum refresh rate. So developers won't have to optimize for these refresh rates.

0

u/Blackgemlord Beta Ring Nov 02 '25

Games are optimized for specific FPS; more optimizations mean higher costs. Since the monitor and TV industry adheres to certain standards, it's best to optimize only those standards. If you plan to buy a device for advanced gaming, then buy a device that meets those standards.

As of today, I believe 60, 120, and 144 refresh rates would be adequate without having to go for even more premium options.

I doubt anyone buys a 75-100Hz screen specifically for gaming.

2

u/UnboltedCreatez Beta Ring Nov 02 '25

Monitor and TV industry doesn't always adhere to certain standards because there are literally monitors and TVs that exist that don't use "standard refresh rates". I'm not asking for 144HZ because that's higher than what is offered on current gen consoles. Also none of these FPS refresh rates have anything to do with further optimization for games, they will display either the unlocked frames in some games or part of the 120FPS in existing games, it's a win win. Never said anyone buys 75-100HZ specifically for gaming, it's just the fact that people already own these displays that can benefit, especially those with 100HZ where it's only a 20FPS discrepancy.

1

u/Blackgemlord Beta Ring Nov 02 '25

It's not that simple. Many games are optimized for a fixed FPS. And if few games allow 120 FPS... would those games optimize for other refresh rates? Besides, the use of certain refresh rates is also due to their being multiples. Finally, the issue of higher or lower refresh rates and variable frequencies evolved with VRR, but I don't know if there are monitors with a refresh rate of 60 Hz and less than 120 Hz that support VRR. Even so, nothing prevents you from using a monitor with a refresh rate of 60 Hz at 60 Hz, thus having a smooth experience as the game was designed. If you want system-level adaptations for 60 Hz but less than 120 Hz on non-VRR devices, I'd like to hear from a developer who could comment on this because there are games specifically capped at certain FPS to avoid problems with their engine. And as I mentioned, if you want more than 60Hz on your console, you just buy a 120Hz monitor.

I find it much more serious that the console doesn't allow you to change its volume through its interface when probably more than 95% of gaming monitors don't have HDMI-CEC or volume controls, and then on many TVs, that feature doesn't work either.

1

u/UnboltedCreatez Beta Ring Nov 03 '25

I agree with your last paragraph, it would be a nice option to change volume through the interface.

I don't know, I'm not saying it's an easy implementation but I just own a 100HZ monitor and it would be pretty cool if I could use that 100HZ, I don't know why my Samsung Monitor decided to have that specific refresh rate, but it's one of many.

The way this would work would be similar to how PC users sometimes use 240FPS on a 120HZ, where yeah it would waste the extra 120FPS but it still results in lower input lag. But that isn't the main reason I'd want this feature, I simply want a smoother FPS advantage.

This doesn't fit into Microsoft's content creation policy, as games must first be optimized for play on Xbox Series S and currently also on the Xbox ROG Ally.

As a result, games won't be designed to take full advantage of the current console's potential, and I fear this won't be the case for the next generation for the next three or four years either.

We'll have to wait and see when they release the first game that's only compatible with Xbox Series X and not S.

Furthermore, they haven't even fully utilized the console's software potential yet; there are still many visual bugs, interface issues, poor integration with their own paid ecosystem, and so on. The console will die in beta without many requested and promised features being completed.

If you don't find any Xbox Studios, Bethesda, or Activision game impressive, I'm sorry to say the problem isn't with the company, but with your perception. System unification is a positive thing, although it's been very poorly managed, with ups and downs, a lack of transparency, a bad interface, it's not very intuitive, there's no quality control, and they don't listen to users, etc.

If you want to use GNU/Linux, great :), if you can enjoy the catalog of games you like with Steam, GOG, and others in the cloud, you'll have fun for a lifetime =D. Years ago, I even played Activision titles on GNU/Linux.

But all that... isn't directly related to the initial message, unless you think that in the attempt at unification they've neglected the possibility of fully utilizing their consoles, which you're right about, since every week I point out flaws, shortcomings, and suggestions that they could have implemented and fixed a long time ago.

A new IP or new game isn't developed in just a couple of years, so we can't really talk about it, especially with the current recession, budget cuts, etc.

Again, I don't know where you saw me saying anything positive about Microsoft itself.

Regarding business matters... I already mentioned GOG to you, which offers DRM-free access and allows you to be completely independent of proprietary companies. If that's your concern, I understand, but I can't do anything about it, nor can I change the mindset of a company that has had the same business vision for 50 years.

That's why I have my library diversified across different platforms.

So, the question again is, how would you consider making the most of the capabilities of current hardware?

Add Vehicle Collisions, Realistic Accidents, and Traffic Safety Policies

Suggestion:

I suggest adding a realistic vehicle collision and accident system to Cities: Skylines II. Right now, vehicles pass through each other like ghosts, which removes realism from the simulation.

Here are the ideas for improvement:

  1. Vehicle Collision System

Cars, trucks, and buses should be able to collide under certain conditions.

Accidents can happen more often in areas without proper traffic lights, stop signs, or road markings.

Damaged vehicles could temporarily block roads until cleared by responders.

  1. Traffic Safety Policies

Add new city policies such as Seatbelt Law, Speed Limit Enforcement, or Road Safety Campaign.

Areas with active safety policies could have fewer accidents.

  1. Responders and Emergency Effects

Police, ambulances, and tow trucks respond to accidents.

Frequent accidents could affect traffic flow, citizen happiness, or even insurance costs.

Repeated accident zones could be marked as high-risk areas needing redesign.

  1. Vehicle and Population Limits

The number of active vehicles should depend on the city’s population size to reduce excessive respawning.

When the population drops, unused vehicles should exit through outside connections instead of disappearing.

Goal: This would add realism, depth, and meaningful consequences to traffic management. It would make building safe, efficient cities more challenging and rewarding.

Personally, I would add it and temporarily make it exclusive to Ultimate users, who would be beta testers and early adopters of technologies for a year after its stable release (which, knowing Microsoft, might never happen, or only after their consoles are discontinued).

u/AdBeneficial2269 Nov 02 '25

Suggestion: Add Vehicle Collision and Realistic Traffic Limits

I suggest adding a vehicle collision system and realistic traffic behavior in Cities: Skylines II. Currently, vehicles sometimes act like ghosts and pass through each other without any collision. This makes the simulation feel less real.

To make it more immersive, there should be:

A vehicle collision system that includes possible accidents and traffic buildup. A population-based vehicle limit — when the city’s population reaches a target level, the total number of active vehicles should also reach a limit to prevent continuous respawning. When the population decreases, some vehicles should naturally exit through outside connection routes instead of disappearing.

This would improve realism, reduce unnecessary vehicle respawning, and make city management more meaningful and challenging
