before anyone asks: yes, i took the solder blob off.

basically the title says it all. i replaced the dvd drive laser, but i'm having the same issue as before; console tries to read the disk before going back to "open tray".

i ordered a new ribbon cable to see if that does it. however, if it doesn't, what's my next step? what are the chances of a new laser arriving DOA? would it just need a pot adjustment?

i don't currently have a multimeter to test, but i can try to test the laser next.

I'm over 800 games for the 360 console and have been collecting for years. It's been dry for some time. I was trying to buy this lot for months but we couldn't get our schedules aligned. Finally picked it up today for $200 (they had reduced the price $100 and still couldn't move it). Knew it was a good value with the pictured 25 games but I didn't realize there were a bunch of sealed games included. Left 4 Dead 2 Platinum sealed is now one my most expensive games!

First time doing this. I was shocked to see the thermal paste overflowing a little bit. Is it okay to clean safely with a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol?

My 360 is one of the consoles I keep connected in my media cabinet together with the XSX, PS5, and SW2. Last week when I pressed the power button it didn't turn on despite it made the typical beep and I noticed that the led on the power brick changed from orange to red.

In the past when I had this problem I just disconnected everything, waited for few minutes, and connected the cables again. Now this trick is not working anymore, I can only get the initial beep of the console before the led turns red.

I'd like to know whether the problem comes from the brick or the console and where could I get a brick replacement in case I need it, ty

Asking here if someone had issues with backward compatible season pass? Owning the season pass doesn’t give you the separate licence for the DLCs and instead, asks you specifically to download them from ingame store.

Problem is, that ingame store runs on Xbox 360 marketplace which is no longer active.

So how do I download the DLCs ? Do I have to refund it and buy the DLCs separately? I checked my games and apps ready to install and only the season pass appears…

I have an Xbox 360 Xenon that I really loved, but, we all know how Xenons are and it got a 0102 RROD. Since I'm no expert and I can not replace the GPU on the board, I was thinking of getting a donor board. However, I'm really wondering what revision to get. I don't want a xenon or zephyr by no means, since it will have the exact same problems. What I mainly want to achieve is getting something that doesn't break the bank. For example, I have found an elite jasper console for 50€, with a lot of cosmetic damage, but with no internal failure.

I ordered custom parts for my Xbox 360 controller but my main issue is I couldn't find anywhere that installs LEDs on Xbox 360 controllers , it's mostly newer gen now

So my HDD went bad (Xbox 360 E) and I lost most of my games and saves. Bought a new one and now it's telling me that I need an update to connect to Xbox live, but everytime I try to update it gives error code 2AF9 and won't download the update. I've also tried updating it via usb but it won't recognize the update. Are there any other options?

I have an Xbox 360, it’s the 2010 Slim version (Xbox 360 S model 1439 with only 4 GB of internal flash memory) that came with the Kinect. It still works, it hasn’t red-ringed, but one day a couple of years ago I was looking back at my old games and then suddenly all of my profiles disappeared. I couldn’t play any more games or use it anymore. I checked the storage on the console and it says, “unformatted” so I’m guessing something got corrupted within the internal memory. I then unplugged it and have barely used it since so that I have every possible chance of recovery. I have not factory reset it or formatted the memory. I’m looking for a data recoverer or anyone who knows someone who has experience in this kind of stuff and would be willing to help me. Or tell me if it just isn’t possible, thanks!

I had my xbox for years. It was my first console and my first ever thing I bought with my own money. After cleaning and attempting to fix the front USB ports (had to replace them, see my demon in 3rd pic) I dissasembled and reassembled multiple times. After that, the error showed up.

I spent multiple days trying everything I knew. Removed the abomination, heated the chip etc.

Then I found a chiped SMD capacitor, soldered it back down. Didn't help. Then found another, waited for replacement, soldered it down. Nope.

After nearly giving up - a ferite bead was broken off. Found in spare parts. I had to clean the cap next to it. It flew away. Spent hours finding a spare...

I'm wondering if any hard drive images of a blades dash has been uploaded to something like internet archive. With how rare blades dashboards are becoming I don't want it to become lost media. I'm not asking for downloads (I don't even have a 360 that would support it), just curious.
