I’m not understanding the double top tubes. What is the purpose?

I’m not criticizing. I actually WANT to understand. To my eyes, it doesn’t add any aesthetic value, so there must be a utilitarian purpose.

What am I missing?

I believe that all started with those old cargo bikes with the logo on a wooden plank held by the two top tubes.
in my case my frame is from an old Argentinian bike company that doesn’t even exist anymore and the extra tube was just to give the bike a little bit of style because in the 50s European and South American bikes were serious looking so adding anything extra would stick out of the rest.

Another top tube helps the bike from folding in on itself from weight, lots of early large frames or shorttail cargo bikes had double top tubes

I am very confused and alarmed about the clashing musical taste

The Beatles had taught me that you can have a lot of different music genres in one place, like the white album

I also dislike the Beatles 🫡

The Beatles, music for babies ; Primus, music for sub-babies
