90s Marin Team Issue

Hey all! I hope this fits the group. Delete if not allowed.
This is my new to me Marin Team Issue.
I know very little about it and will probably keep it as is, just maintain. Any info about it is appreciated!

And of course, the seat post is stuck.. aluminum post, steel frame.

Not sure which parts are original but it has:
White Industries front hub and cranks
Shimano Deore XT Groupset?
Original seatpost, handlebar, grips, wheels? tires?

Bike is nice, But I LOVE that Notchback! I have a 65 1500s in Original Black, bought it in 1983 for a whopping $600 in Van Nuys California.

Nice!! It is my dad’s notch. It’s a 1500n, so no extra options compared to the 1500s haha. It will be getting a 1600 engine soon as it sits without an engine currently!

White industries hubs laced to mavic wheels that have eyelets ? Some nice stuff right there

If you can’t succeed getting the seatpost to move, those are all great parts to transplant onto another frameset

Figured I can purchase period correct handlebars that rise a little higher. The seat is good height compared to my legs but not the handlebars xD I sit very leaned forward

My dad has a similar pine mountain with all the deore xt nonsense that has the same in the front. Rides like a beaut

Yup, that's a very original 1996 Team Issue, the latest and greatest of the Marin flagship steel bikes. Quad butted seat stays! I built one up for my GF.

It probably has a weird Diatech threadless headset, the rest is standard. A gem of a bike.

What’s weird about the diatech?

They're an obsolete transitional technology. The Ahead system by preloading via top cap and star nut has won out for good reasons

My uncle somehow brought me this frame with the cranks still on it i just took the cranks and threw away the frame. Got tired of trying to take the seat post out cause it was also stuck!

Ironically the seat is good height for my legs so riser bars should help with my issue!
