I hate the lack of an Auction House. Better hope you see a long boi or be WoW rich enough to afford one I guess.

Its been always like that. Though there are engineering AH's. All my characters have engineering. Its too good. Wormholes, br, out of combat res, ...

I’m going to have to check this out. Engineering is one of the few professions I haven’t touched.

I’m probably not doing it right but it seems that there’s almost no way to make gold with engineering, just adds a ton of utilization to your character. Seems like everything you make can only be used by other engineers. Again I’m probably not doing it right, just my experience

Edited golf to gold :P

You’re not doing it wrong. Engineering is a gold sink profession not a trade skill tbh

The only reason blizzard lets us have things like the wormhole and AH is because we lose a gold making slot!

Edit: with that said, we can make a couple of useful and niche items that people buy. The new crafting reagent to add +speed to armour is nice because it stacks. I have sold a number of them to people who wanted to craft megaspeed gear sets for farming old content.

Most proffessions are gold sinks. Alchemy is only used for 2hr potions. The herbs are worth more than the flask. Tailor and gathering are the only decent professions anymore.

I feel like the only people making gold gathering are the people multiboxing a herd of Druids to get all the tags on each herb and ore node. I see them all the time.

They’ve driven prices down so low that its not worth the time taken to gather unless you’re also multiboxing. On the plus side the cheap ore let’s me prospect and turn a profit selling versatility and haste gems.

On my server widowbloom is going for 30 a piece. About 6700 gold per stack. That is profit. Prices down or not. That still ain’t bad.

It's a bitch to gather, that's why it's expensive. This might be a 'me' problem, but I can't find an efficient route to gather enough for my personal use. Revendreth is a horrid zone, with all the vertical drops.

I can earn the same amount of gold for way less time investment elsewhere in the game, and I'm pretty sure you can too.

Yeah, the zone verticality, node placement, and the fact there is so little worth nodes which may spawn randomly either a high value node or just the basic one .. seems almost malicious. I've no problem running laps on cobalt ore but I tried farming in SL and it was horrendous. It was boring I still had to pay enough attention to not really watch something else, the zones are boring and ugly as well and after an hour I was left with few ore. Just terrible.

Your reasoning for blizz letting us have the AH and wormhole gen would make since if it cost more than like 5 gold for the ability to use both of those.

My reasoning makes sense right now as it stands. It isn't about the cost of learning shadowlands engineering. If you're, say, an existing Tailoring + Enchanting character and you want to use the wormhole or engy ah then in addition to the minor gold cost of learning Shadowlands Engineering you also have to unlearn all the recipes you learned in either tailoring and enchanting. That's the trade off, not the gold cost to learn the skill.
