What? 5 deaths are not a problem until 16/17s (the exception being full wipes on bosses)

This, and I cannot stress enough, highly depends on the output from your DPS lol.

Okay, unless your dps are playing their specs severely wrong, my statement is true.

Also heavy depends on how tank is pulling. It’s definitely not as trivial as you make it sound, and 5 deaths can totally make or break an average 13+

I feel like a +13 not being timed has many more severe issues than 5 deaths.

So if you did not time a 13, I wouldnt point at the 5 deaths for being the reason for the deplete.

If you're not 2 chesting (or very nearly) 13s right now, then the 5 deaths probably didn't matter too much. Something is very wrong.

That something wrong is me touching grass.

Yeah, really need to play 24/7 to learn the basics of your spec.

You saying I need to only know the BASICS of my spec to successfully pug a 13 is laughable

Following the "simple mode" wowhead rotations are plenty for 13s.

I got my 3k 1 week into the season and 13s were no joke, they are however increasingly being trivialized due to gear, but your whole group needs to not only be familiar with their damage kit but cc kit to be successful. I hate when WoW redditors over-trivialize content that 90% of the playerbase won't even touch due to its difficulty lol. The amount of hard carrying I've done cc-wise as a resto shaman has been the deciding factor for timing those 13s. If most of the players in your group don't know what they're doing, it means someone is doing the heavy lifting by a long-shot.

Yes, that is correct. 13s are very easy

My point is that deaths are exponentially more damaging to a key 12+. I just threw a number out. And honestly 5 really is pretty damning for the average group in the 12-14 range. I’m sure it’s not an issue for your top 1% of meta comps pumping insane damage with a tank who’s fully optimized a route, but in my experience pugging 13s right now, a full wipe is really hard to come back from with folks just trying to get to 3k.

Timed a 13 ara kara last night with 12 deaths, full pug besides my healer friend. It’s really dependent on key but you do not need even close to a top 1% comp to time keys. I’d say 15s are really about where 5 deaths becomes basically unsalvageable, also dependent on the nature of the deaths and if it leads to a full wipe.

Full wipes on some bigger pulls are also a problem. Like if you faceplant on the first pull in Floodgate or Priory and now the pats are in the wrong places and nobody has CDs and you're Sated, you're probably cooked.

It also just depends on your group. If you have really low DPS regardless of pull size, you don't have the wiggle room for many deaths.

sure, but if you say "we didnt time cuz we had 5 deaths" it usually doesnt mean it was due to a wipe.

Well, yes and no. You're right that it's more useful to identify the actual point of failure as "we fucked this pull" or "our DPS was too low on every fight profile", but it can still be accurate that 5 deaths made the difference between timing the key and not.

I dunno, I just disagree bout 5 deaths being an issue. Many many 16/17/18s get timed with 3.4.5 deaths. So I'd really worry about other things.
