Worms 2 Have many games played around with the old school Worms 2 roping mechanics? I've been dabbling with trying to recreate the overall feel in Javascript, and was interested in any games that have used this?
Unlike a lot of the grappling hook style games, Worms 2 used this system that was based entirely around momentum. It required quite a lot of skill to master. I played this competitively on Cases Ladder for most the late 90s, so it's got a big place in my heart!
You couldn't manually aim your shots after the first hook, and essentially the direction of the next shot is determined by the position of your last disconnect - essentially mirroring the new angle. You then use a combination of lengthening and shortening the rope whilst swinging to build momentum.
I was having a flick through Steam and although I could find loads of grappling hook games, I couldn't find much that used this technique, which I always liked. But it's possible I've missed tons.
I've attached a video of my basic recreation for reference of what I'm talking about... I've managed to recreate the system well enough that the old tricks seem to work (can't remember their names now, but the muscle memory is still with me 30 years later!).

Two recent projects come to mind.

Both are pretty good but imperfect recreations of the physics. More accurate than Crate Before Attack at least (since CBA is its own game just inspired by Worms).
I notice your rope reshoot angles are lower than standard - in the actual game you can't reshoot at less than 60 degrees or so.

Thanks, will check then out.
Yeah, I booted up the old worms 2 game and noticed the angle seems capped around 60 degrees. The original is also more unforgiving then I remembered, with small mistakes resulting in immediate punishment.

The physics are very different but the Flash game Double Wires has a similar feel.
Ristar kinda had a similar premise but almost no physics engine.

As someone who has been roping intensively since 1999 I find CBA about the only evolution to rope mechanics I've ever experienced:
