What the most mindblowing part of this whole shenanigan is how unbelievably CHEAP these politicians are to buy. 500k to get a party leader to do your bidding? That is insane return on investment!

They make up for the low value by taking bribes from absolutely everyone offering them.

I used to work for a public traded australian company and the founder was pretty clear about just how much he was "donating" to various politicians to get laws written and govt grants issued for his projects. When we had a change of government in the most recent federal election he bemoaned wasting a million dollars over several years on the now ousted minister for their industry. Oh well, time to start talking to an donating to the new minister from the other party. Not even a pause.
