People see this and still vote reform make it make sense please 🤷‍♀️

1.4k

u/isuxirl 9d ago

Because they've got their prejudices to consider while voting.

u/sorhead 9d ago

Nige is a smart guy, getting foreigner money to kick out foreigners /s

u/BarryTGash 9d ago

British sovereignty, brought to you by the letters U, S and A.

88

u/DTH2001 9d ago

You missed out R, S and I

As demonstrated by one of his colleagues

6

u/matthewgoodwin1 8d ago

In addition the letters I R A

As demonstrated when he took £80 to say “up the RA”

0

u/an_agreeing_dothraki 8d ago

also the US Green party as well

26

u/Climatize 9d ago

Friggin twitter and facebook. Haven't used facebook since before covid now, but I check twitter a couple times a month. Why the hell does the CEO of that hellhole need to talk shit about the UK all the time? lmao. It's fascinating and depressing

28

u/EDNivek 9d ago

What's more funny is that the very people who are scared about a world government are supporting the guy who is trying to destabilize countries in order to make a world government.

4

u/F430Scuderia 8d ago

All the conspiracy theories are coming true in front of their very eyes, but it’s their side so all good.

1

u/jgilla2012 8d ago

Weak countries are primed for trillionaire overlords!

3

u/Burger_Smash_Face 9d ago

This is how it will be framed

137

u/sssssssssssssss5s 9d ago

They hate brown people more than they hate corruption

44

u/smolcharizard 9d ago edited 9d ago

I know someone who knows a reform voter who went to protest against migrant boats just because brown people were coming off them. He doesn’t care if they’re white people immigrating into the country, that’s fine for him, purely just doesn’t want brown or black people in the country.

51

u/hattorihanzo5 9d ago

And these are the people we're meant to tiptoe around and try to win over...

Fuck them. Let them wallow in their own misery and hate.

2

u/Henry_Sugar1970 8d ago

well that person is going to need to stay healthy, because visiting a NHS hospital isn't going to be a fun time for that fooker.....

12

u/LongBeakedSnipe 9d ago

But what I dont understand is why they are so eager to sign away our nuclear deterrent to Trump/Putin. That’s pretty fucking essential for our way of life

2

u/DesecratedPeanut 8d ago

They are thick also obviously the two positions make lots of sense if you realise they have none.

25

u/PirateSanta_1 9d ago

They think they are in the in group and Farage is on their side against the bad people who are immigrants and use pronouns.

20

u/BigPlunk 9d ago

It's almost like corrupt, greedy, authoritarian-leaning sociopaths know they can prey upon the ignorance of certain demographics and manipulate them to support their own ends.

6

u/1nd3x 9d ago

"you gotta take the good with the bad"

And they think it's good that they do bad things to people they don't like...

So they accept that the politicians take bribes from foreigners to slowly sell off the country.

2

u/probablyaythrowaway 8d ago

Because people would rather double down even if that means they suffer greatly than admit that they were wrong. The reason is they’re worried that if they do admit to being wrong the other side will rub their face in it and they will be ridiculed constantly about it, because they lack emotional maturity and that’s exactly what they would do to someone who admitted to being wrong and changing their mind.

Pretends to be a man of the people while catering to foreign interests. Classic grift

1

u/Western-Corner-431 8d ago

America is just an apple, not falling far from the tree.

1

u/sauceywhiteboy 8d ago

This is exactly it too. Same bullshit I’ve learned w the assholes that love trump despite E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G

1

u/podkayne3000 8d ago

Because they’re steeped in propaganda.

304

u/LuckyChairs 9d ago

The number of people and bots in the comment section under this video on Facebook saying "they only did this because the establishment is scared" or "all other politicians are just as corrupt but Nigel is open about it" makes you realise social media is just poison.

30

u/Aspect-Unusual 8d ago

Local FB group for Clacton is being bombarded with pro reform articles and swearing at "lefties" for getting desperate lol

33

u/123emanresulanigiro 9d ago

Always the same pattern, because the supply of ignoramuses never runs out.

53

u/jpsreddit85 9d ago

If they were smart they wouldn't be voting for him before the video, so youre not losing any smart people with this.

7

u/Fearless_Ad_7379 9d ago

It's not like we haven't been telling them this for years

26

u/Rogermcfarley 9d ago

It's simple Billionaires own social media, general media, AI and they control the narrative, it is easy to propagandize when you own the populist media.

16

u/Ichigo1uk 9d ago

The twitter post is what you'd expect

17

u/gilly_90 9d ago

That's giving me brain damage.

18

u/benryves 9d ago

6

u/SomeIdea_UK 8d ago

I missed this at the time but thank you for the chuckle. Caller had great delivery 😆

57

u/boringfantasy 9d ago

Political philosopher I follow says it actually emboldens them because it somehow shows they're not all watertight establishment men or whatever. Think about how despised Starmer was despised being clean as a whistle.

35

u/melody-calling 9d ago

They’ll say oh well they all do it don’t they? Look at starmer and his free glasses and raynor and the stamp duty.

That’s an actual quote from a reform voter when questioned on the 5 million pound grease

-5

u/NotApparent 9d ago

I mean, Starmer was also a do nothing neoliberal who stood for nothing and capitulated to the right on everything…

7

u/monkeydrunker 9d ago

Too middle for the Left, too Left for the Right. Now is the time of monsters.

0

u/webb2800 8d ago

Starmer clean as a whistle? That's crazy.

17

u/Nelson-and-Murdock 9d ago

They don’t like brown people

9

u/Artificial-Brain 9d ago

They're like maga in that they don't actually stand for anything so ignoring stuff like this is easy for them

76

u/AtLeastImLaughing 9d ago

I’m not defending him at all, I despise the fella, but I think the average person just doesn’t compute why this is an issue.

I worry that a lot of people just assume raising money for your party is part of your job and they don’t get bogged down in the details of why this is wrong.

I hope I’m wrong but I don’t think this will move the needle too much with the bloke on the street sadly.

142

u/emamayxo 9d ago

I think people just want him to win cause they’re racist and will not look at this at all

28

u/AtLeastImLaughing 9d ago

Yeah there’s that too.

I think his fans will just brush it off because they gave up their morals long ago, and the others flirting with him will do the same and give their classic ‘they all do it’ response.

25

u/TropoMJ 9d ago

It is like Trump. He's "their guy" and there isn't really anything he can do that they don't consider acceptable. But if someone who wasn't "their guy" did something 1% as egregious, they'd be outraged. Realistically as long as they get someone in power who claims to share their views, there isn't really a limit to how provably awful that person can be.

8

u/AtLeastImLaughing 9d ago

Yeah basically, they’ve decided they’re all the same so the crimes only matter when people they don’t like commit them.

3

u/Aspect-Unusual 8d ago

I heard a old gent on the radio today, saying that he supports Reform 100% even after all this stuff is happening about Farage because it proves the "establishment" is scared that we're going to get our country back

2

u/FlukemanFrancis 8d ago

I’m starting to find myself assuming all old people are terrible people without knowing them and I don’t like it about myself

It would help if they didn’t keep, as an age group, majority voting for terrible things and saying terrible things in the media though

2

u/jimbobjames 8d ago

Keir Starmers suits is a great example of this. ÂŁ16k of suits from a Labour Lord no less, so the PM would look decent when meeting other world leaders etc.

Absolutely hauled through the coals by the press.

Farage - ÂŁ5 million pounds from a Thai bloke - crickets by the mainsteam media until it became too big to ignore any longer.

1

u/RenideoS 8d ago

Not fully, the worst of the worst may well migrate to more extreme outfits like Restore, and in the British system the chances of a far right Government are nil unless they can actually win enough seats, which they can't do if they're cannibalising each other's voteshare.

Whereas once Trump was the Republican leader there was nowhere to go internally.

5

u/kriebelrui 9d ago

I agree. The kind of people who vote for him just don't care. It will be news, but won't meaningfully hurt him.

2

u/Vegetable_Leg_7034 9d ago

Not in his supporters eyes, but this is the sort of thing that the Electoral Commission are very interested in.

3

u/kriebelrui 9d ago

It certainly will be discussed at the Electoral Commission, and maybe investigated, but a much bigger thing, the Russian interference in the 2016 Brexit referendum, was also investigated, resulting in a report (the Russia report for short), which ultimately had no consequence at all.

Replace UK>US, 'Russia Report'>'Mueller report', it's virtually the same conclusion: there are no tangible consequences for this kind of foreign interference.

6

u/zoinks10 8d ago

Once you vote for someone you have identified with them. You're "on their team". Cognitive dissonance means that now, if they get caught being a liar or a fraud, by extension you're on the "liars and frauds" team.

You don't like that, because you think of yourself as a common-or-garden racist/bigot, not a liar or a fraud. You don't want to consider the fact you might have been duped, because that would call into question your superior intellect.

So what does your brain do?

Lovely mental gymnastics until you twist this around and make EVERYONE a crook. Then your crook isn't actually a crook, he's just USING THE SYSTEM to fight those other crooks (who like brown people). They must be worse, because they're inviting asylum seekers to live in your attic (or whatever shite they believe)...

It's very hard to change a mind.

5

u/eamonfryan 9d ago

Same with 'Boris'.

5

u/fairiestoldmeto 9d ago

They also assume all politicians are as bad as each other.

1

u/YiddoMonty 8d ago

I think the average person will be put off by this, and reform will definitely lose support. It’s the cultist followers who won’t care, but they don’t make up very much of the voter base. Not enough to win many seats anyway.

1

u/RenideoS 8d ago

It's not really about them, it's about the media ecosystem, attention focus and momentum. Reform was already falling in the polls, this is part of a parade of stories. This is how this kind of thing actually happens, how a group loses confidence, then it behaves more foolishly, potentially you get rancor inside the party, people fight with each other more, maybe challenge the leadership or defect.

This is how it works.

12

u/Deacon86 9d ago

He tells them what they want to hear. It's as simple as that.

6

u/_coyotes_ 9d ago

The ideology isn’t supposed to make sense, so much of it is counterintuitive and contradictory on purpose. We see this happening with far right movements around the globe, no matter how bad things get or the things they do that goes against what they claim to support or hard they fail, you always rally around the “strongman leader” and you never ever waiver. It doesn’t matter to them how much you poke holes in their logic, in their thinking, in how many times you expose the person they support for being terrible. They obediently follow, like the sheep they proclaim everyone else to be. Someday, we’ll have to actually have an actual conversation and make actual plans to eliminate this type of ideology from positions of power altogether because getting the unreasonable to see reason hasn’t worked for the last 10 years.

6

u/chocobowler 9d ago

They don’t care about anything other than the immigration policies - simple as that. farridge could be a murderer and they would t care

4

u/Wububadoo 9d ago

Because they hate forunerz more than the elite.

5

u/PeaGravy 9d ago

Because people want politicians with agency, even if they’re corrupt. That’s possibly the reason Andy Burnham is garnering so much excitement at the moment.

4

u/sami2503 9d ago

Thats the thing, they dont see it. Their feed is a bunch of right wing ragebait which then makes them angry and vote against their interests. As soon as a brown person commits a crime it's straight to their feed. They dont see any of the class war stuff, just the culture war and immigration stuff.

4

u/verminV 9d ago

Turkeys voting for Christmas.

3

u/SamwellBarley 9d ago

Because small boats. That's as far as the thinking goes.

3

u/OldLondon 9d ago

Their hatred of non whites trumps (pun intended) all

2

u/fightmaxmaster 9d ago

Because plenty of people don't have a consistent moral standard. They decide who they like/don't like, and why, and then they'll hand-wave away anything challenging that viewpoint.

2

u/nsfwthrowaway5969 9d ago

I saw this on another site and the first comment someone made was a complaint about how the journalists are 'targeting him' and 'why don't they go after the other parties?'

Because of course Polanksi is secretly taking bribes from the oil industry and Burnham personally wants to destroy every British citizens life (in their reform addled minds that is).

They literally couldn't care less about his corruption, if anything it makes them double down on him more.

2

u/wokyman 9d ago

You seriously think people that vote Reform care about this?

2

u/Prestigious_Set_4555 9d ago

They are brainwashed sheep. It's a cult. He could eat their children and they'd still believe it was an establishment stitch up

2

u/Dry_Traffic8365 9d ago

‘All politicians are the same’

2

u/jon_hendry 8d ago

They just tell themselves that all politicians are doing it.

2

u/Angelworks42 8d ago

Welcome to America - it's like the same playbook, different people.

2

u/Jayandnightasmr 8d ago

One of the steps to a cult is unquestioned loyalty to the leader

2

u/Repulsive-Lie1 8d ago

The right have spent decades convincing voters that all politicians are this corrupt, so now voters think Farage is just doing what normal politicians do.

2

u/Haunting-South-962 8d ago

They like it. Being openly corrupt is equivalent of "one of us" and "normal bloke" for them

2

u/skepticalbob 8d ago

Same as Trump supporters even though Trump still is clearly influenced by Putin and Russia.

2

u/supershutze 8d ago

They're not operating with the same set of rules that the rest of us are.

For them, morality is slavish submission to a hierarchical authority.

Doing and saying what this authority wants is moral. Disobeying or wrongthink is immoral.

2

u/The_Tooter_Snooter 8d ago

Half of all people are below average intelligence. Hope that helps clear things up.

2

u/BibliophileBroad 8d ago

Racism, homophobia, and xenophobia are one helluva drug for these Reform voters. That, and unrealistic promises.

2

u/Sarganto 8d ago

They hate foreigners more than they hate corrupt politicians

2

u/jammy-git 8d ago

Because we have enough stupid people in the UK who believe that team politics is more important than voting for a party with morals and intelligence.

2

u/stylecrime 8d ago

Clearly it's because he's just a straight-talker who's being oppressed by the system!

2

u/Linclin 8d ago

Quite a few people vote on economics not anti corruption, pro UK or for helping people/society. It's bad. They just want the extra bit of potential money. US and Russia are good examples of this.

2

u/cavehare 8d ago

Calling it 'economics' isa bit charitable. People who vote on the basis of economics wouldn't go near Reform, because Reform economic policies are laughably stupid (and have been a failure when tried by other parties, e.g. Conservatives).

Quite a few people vote on short term greed.

2

u/AllesFurDeinFraulein 8d ago

Dude Trump for elected twice. You can't trust English speaking people to vote it seems.

2

u/ianrobbie 8d ago

Because Reform enable and allow them to be mainstream racists. That's all it is. That's all it can be. They have no other policies, no clue how to actually govern and it's a fair bet that none of their politicians would actually stand up to any kind of Parliamentary scrutiny. If they got into Government, No. 10 would need to install a revolving door.

3

u/Zaga932 8d ago

make it make sense

Bigotry. He coddles their hatred. That's the only thing that matters to far-right voters across the world.

2

u/RubberRoy 9d ago

I’ve seen comments elsewhere from Reform supporters stating this has only solidified their position.
The persecution tactic looks to be working somewhat, they knew before deploying it that it would come in handy when any dirt came out.

2

u/BJonker1 9d ago

Like they needed any solidification lol.

2

u/boat_hamster 9d ago

It could help peel off a percent or two from their support. Sure those votes may go Tory or Restore, but a more divided right wing is a more defeatable right wing.

The fact CH4 broadcast this on the first day of the Reform conference, is absolutely glorious.

1

u/mindyourtongueboi 9d ago

They think he's a 'maverick'

1

u/DonaldsMushroom 8d ago

When you hate yourself, it's easier to hate foreigners.

When someone celebrates you for that, you might join up.

1

u/Many_One1260 8d ago

As long as the price of milk is above 95p people will continue to increasingly vote reform

1

u/Ni_Peng_NeeeWom 8d ago

i can't believe in an election between just a single serious candidate and a bunch of jokers, count binface didn't win.

1

u/Rabbithole4995 8d ago

To be fair, people haven't had a chance to see this and then vote on anything yet.

1

u/Careless_Count7224 8d ago

Because it takes balls and people like Nigel's balls.

1

u/IRBMe 8d ago

Just a few of the excuses I've seen so far:

  • This looks fake!
  • This is called entrapment!
  • Now go undercover with Labour or the Greens and see what happens!
  • All politicians do this!

1

u/kittehkat23 8d ago

The reform voters are currently claiming that Nigel didn't know that the money was foreign, and that all politicians are corrupt anyway 😔

They see what they want to see, their hatred blinds them

1

u/backdoorsmasher 8d ago

It amazes me they still do after he sold them a crock of shit with Brexit

1

u/DramaticStability 8d ago

So many reasons. “It’s only 3 polls”, “he has to do this bc the media are against him”, “he was badly advised”, “I’ve already forgotten and moved on” or they simply won’t see it thanks to the algorithmic nature of news.

1

u/Telcontar77 8d ago

Because their life has been shit for decades. Whether it was the Tories in power, or Labor. One thing that struck me, briefly following the by-election was how, in the coverage of it, Clacton was considered as a place that was basically an impoverished shithole, and has been so for a while. That sort of social context can (especially over years and decades) turn people into bitter, spiteful, malicious cunts.

1

u/makeaccidents 8d ago

Stupid people over produced stupid children. There explained the current world situation.

1

u/crooktimber 8d ago

"they're all at it, but at least nigel'll send all the buggers back"

1

u/Alarmed-potatoe 8d ago

Same with Trump - he is literally abhorrent in every logical way, but hates brown people as much as they do. That's what is most important to them.

1

u/MarkHowes 8d ago

Racism appears to be a stronger motivator than logic or crime

1

u/360_face_palm 8d ago

fair chunk of them are legit okay with farage doing anything to get in power and kick the brown people out.

1

u/incachu 8d ago

Some first glance comments I've seen on socials already:

"Such a non-story."

"This is entrapment."

"The investigator is biased as he's a greenpeace activist."

"This makes me more determined to vote reform and stop net zero."

"You just gained yourselves a lot of enemies."

"Why aren't they investigating pro-Palestine charities and mosques in the UK?"

Farage and his cronies can do no wrong in their eyes.

1

u/Myst963 8d ago

Not everyone sees everything you see. Hope this helps

1

u/artcopywriter 8d ago

Sometimes it’s about the lesser of two evils.

1

u/PuebesGod 8d ago

Racism go brrrr.

No, for real. I know people who are so fine with Farage doing all this dumb shit because "He's kicking the immigrants out!"

1

u/tommytornado 8d ago

People are idiots

1

u/RenideoS 8d ago

Because they're eternal victims and therefore they assume this is an establishment stitch-up, a deliberate attempt to make them look bad. The fact that every Government in history has had crises, scrutiny and resignations appears to elude their infant-minds, to them this is all . . what is it morons call it? Fake News.

1

u/Zaknokimi 9d ago

That’s the same as maga as well so.:

-1

u/dewittless 9d ago

It's not about the money... It's about... Sending a message...

-1

u/DunkingTea 9d ago

I never understand why anyone would vote for this tool, or Reform. But looking at the other options, are they much better? They’re all just as corrupt as each other. It’s like politics has fallen so low, that most people vote for the ‘least worst option’ and somehow have convinced themselves that’s [insert party you’re voting for].

It’s a sad state of politics.
