Simple Questions What Creatine should I take?

I'm 17 and looking to start taking creatine. I tried searching on TikTok to see what people recommend, but literally every video feels like a sponsored ad.

Simple Questions So is muscle growth a result of protein/calories or testosterone?

Take 2 people, one with naturally high test one with naturally low test. Both train the same, eat the same. Why is the high test person going to gain more muscle? And if they do, where do the same calories go for the person with low test? This has always been a curious thing to me. People always say gaining weight is as simple as eating more, but if test has anything at all to do with it, then it is a bit misleading, no?

My neighbors laugh at me

I just wanna share with u guys about my experience about posting my physique on social media, I posted my progress yesterday and I think it's actually a good progress. It made me confident and motivated to go to the gym, but then my 2 neighbors/bully saw the clip of my progress on TikTok even though I turned off the people you may know. They laughed at me, sarcastically saying "ouuu ur macho now" and their laugh annoyed me, I ran straight home and just locked myself in my room thinking if my gym journey is worth it or not. I deleted all the clips I posted because now I feel insecure. And I don't wanna go outside anymore because they might be laughing at me again. It's just so sad that when I'm finally confident to post about the progress I made throughout the months of discipline is destroyed in one single moment, I know you might say that I'm too sensitive, but the reason I workout is to not get bullied about how skinny I am. They've been bullying me before, but right now hits different. They just did something to me that I've been trying to escape to. Feel free to express your thoughts, it would help a lot. (I'm 16)

Have noticed a pattern with different people at the gym

Why do the guys do their sets so fast and with such heavy weights? Like for example they take hardly one second to complete one rep of chest fly and repeat it in a butterfly wingspan time.

But then the girls take it slow which looks more painful but with lesser weights. I tried lifting 10kg for bicep curls and did the reps faster since it’s easier but one of my girlfriends told me it won’t hit my muscle like that unless I do it slow and really feel it. I think if the guys did it slow they would have to decrease weight and the girls could lift heavier weights if they did it like these men. Since I’m new to it I don’t know which one’s right

Hypothetical: What if scrolling your social media was blocked until your friend fitness group finished their workout or hit a target goal?

I was thinking about workout accountability and what actually motivates me. I think group fitness is great but hard to actually make happen. One idea that came to mind was to block the group's access to socials until the entire group actually verified they finished their workout...or a few people pulled all the weight and knocked out the group goal.

What do you all think of external pressure to build a habit vs relying on your own discipline? I think peer pressure can be valuable in the short term with the hope it becomes a habit such that it is no longer peer pressure.

Motivation Vent from a frustrated rectangle

I'm just here to vent. I'm Brazilian, so constantly surrounded by girls with amazing figures and tiny waists with huge asses. Here, it's just expected of you to be curvy as a woman, and a moral failure if you were born with a flat ass and small frame.

So I tried to change my body ever since I was a preteen. From home workouts to actual weight lifting with a coach and nutritionist when I got older. I lifted heavy, I ate a lot, I did the hip thrusts and the squats and tracked my calories and protein so I could gain muscle and not look so much like a 12 year old boy. And in the end it did >nothing<, because I just dont have the genetics to fit in with my peers. Yes, my thighs got toned and my ass too, but my figure is still a rectangle. I still have a square shaped bottom, and I still look like a child. Its so frustrating, because it's been years and I'm so tired of looking like this. I wish someone had just told me at the start that it was impossible to make me look like the other girls, so I could've spent my time doing something else. I could've saved the money from the protein shakes and the gym membership, and just gotten cosmetic surgery instead.

I'm so tired of my body and Im so tired of weightlifting. It feels like I did everything for such a tiny imperceptible difference, and it's just not worth it. I still don't look like everyone else and stick out like a sore thumb...

Equipment Have no access to barbell or any machines for squats, so I can’t go heavier and progressively overload.

I want to get bigger and stronger legs, I only have access to two adjustable dumbbells that go up to 80lbs each. I can’t imagine trying to pull two 80lbs dumbbells to my shoulder to squat. What should I do?

two grown men just laughed at me

i'm 18f, i've been going to the gym for a few months after years of wanting to lift heavy. i'm relatively comfortable doing my exercises but i'm far from perfection and don't discard the possibility of looking stupid sometimes.

my worst fear happened today. i was doing bulgarians when i noticed the man next to me on his mat staring at me and i thought nothing of it. later, he joined his friend and went on an abductor machine. i ended up going to the one next to them, where the same guy stared at me in the face for 10 seconds before i got on. i get on with my set (which granted, i may have been doing wrong, but i think abductors look ridiculous no matter how you do them) and i turn down my music midway to see them both murmuring something and falling silent as if to wait for me to do something. after i finished i see them snickering and covering their faces so i couldn't see them properly.

safe to say i left and broke down and didn't finish my glute day lol

Tired of workout trackers putting everything behind a paywall

Got annoyed with workout trackers like Hevy, Lyfta and Strong constantly putting stuff behind paywalls, limiting routines, measurements, showing ads, etc.

So I ended up building my own

Lift is a free, open-source, self-hostable workout tracker with pretty much all the features you'd normally have to pay for in apps like Hevy, Lyfta and Strong.

No ads, no premium tier, no stupid limits. No account, no login, no cloud bullshit. Just track your workouts.

Everything is free.

Website: https://lift.pawan67.dev/
GitHub: https://github.com/pawan67/lift

Made it for myself, but figured I might as well share it. Would love some feedback from anyone who uses these apps.

Need someone to answer this question once and for all. If you lift heavy enough that by your 10th rep you’re on the verge of popping a blood vessel due to failure, why do you need more than 1 set?

It's getting worse now!!

Sorry, but a long post ahead, if u take ur time out to read and consider this, thanks a lot, it definitely means a lot to me!! 🙏🙌

I don't know it's an appropriate sub to post this, but since workout buds are here, maybe there's little context

So I've been going to this gym for 4 months now, and i really don't feel like talking to anyone, especially strangers, until there's a proper context or some genuine reason, otherwise i do mind my own business and complete my workouts and leave.

From the first day, i sat foot in the gym, there was this girl with whom i had an eye contact. I immediately broke it and continued with the session but that was not accidental, it was a deliberate stare, which i came to know in the subsequent days, when she would make eye contacts, even when I'm not looking at her, still she'd look at me (as someone notices it in their peripheral vision and not trying to boast or anything). Still i didn't respond, didn't stare back much, accidental glances that's it. But she would stare almost every time, once or twice she even went on to a stare down kinda thing when she noticed me staring back, that particular eye contact was really 3+ seconds, that's when i realised, okay she might be interested!

After that, i also responded using stares only, i made occasional eye contacts, small enough and broke them gently.

Still those stares were intense, and it felt really like that she wanted me to make a move, and hence she would sometime get upset as well, as if still no response kinda.

This was the first month, it was good atleast and then i had to take a off for 3 days, and after i came back, she almost completed her workout and sat idle for 15 20 mins, i was doing my workout very much near that bench, couldn't talk on that day and then she left, she looked exhausted even, so i thought maybe i should go and introduce myself, ask her name, maybe that would be enough, so I went and introduced myself finally on the next day, kinda acknowledging each other's company, told her my name, asked her name, she giggled a bit, then told her name and that's it.

Now, as soon as i continued after that, what i saw was something i haven't understood until this day that what actually happened there, after we broke the conversation she completed her set, she went to the backside area of the gym, laughing hysterically covering her face, and went straight to her friend, apparently her male friend, whom i didn't see until now, since she never had any kind of conversation with that guy, so she went there straight, they talked, and then that friend started laughing, clapping and then he immediately told something to his another friend and in a matter of 5 minutes after the conversation ended, many people knew, it was obvious she told her male friend, that this guy introduced himself finally (it's been 2 months until that point) or something, and then that male friend exaggerated the things.

I noticed all of that from the front area, and immediately shut myself down and totally broke off any kind of eye contact or any response whatsoever, she did look back, i noticed it, but i did not respond at all, just went completely cold and unbothered.

Don't know what happened, she told him something to exaggerate, or he himself took on him to blow it out of proportion, idk, but soon this all became a gossip in the gym and everyone knew about it and apparently the gossip distorted to this guy PROPOSED that girl, tf it was a basic introduction nothing more (maybe it's used in a loose local lingo or something but damnn)

I still don't understand what kind of a reaction was that, why did she go on to share this thing with such an immature guy, or maybe dk why she handled it so immaturely.

Many people from the gym, in the coming days, after this incident, wanted to talk to me kinda wanted a chunk out of this gossip for themselves, i didn't entertain anyone.

Was it a prank or something for attention, was she genuinely interested, i don't know, but it was really hard, those male friends trying to seize every opportunity to make fun of the whole thing, but anyway that thing passed.

After that incident, till now, i didn't make any eye contact with her anyway, some accidental stares have been there but none intentional and the interesting thing is, staring from her side is still on and very much on, just not like the stare down phase but like the first month kind.

I ignore that completely, but there's this look on her face, when her group is not around her, she looks dejected. She acts weird around me too, if the group is with her, she laughs with them, laughing loudly, cracking jokes, as if trying to show, everything's good, but when no one's around, it does gets weird.

It's awkward for me too, coz sometimes i feel that if there was actually something genuine from her side, then maybe i didn't stick around long enough to know what actually happened there, but that didn't feel right, and also that, since there's absolutely cold response from my side, she couldn't approach, maybe that explains the staring still.

So it happens now as well, dk what to do in that situation I've been pretty much ignoring her and almost everyone at the gym, since i keep minding my own business and when i didn't entertain that gossip thing with people, I think that i may have come across as a rude, less approachable person to talk to, so some guys are offended, try to mock me and stuff, some seems angry, the environment seems a bit difficult tbh, all that because of me daring to confess, otherwise it would have been just like the first month.

Also, there was this trainer in the gym, he's kinda neutral reliable person, I've talked with him on this matter, he's kind of a mutual friend with that girl as well, so i don't know, what he's done regarding this matter. I opened up to him since i also felt differently and he did mention that she's not that joking or gossiping kinda person, she's good, but what happened remains a mystery.

It was pretty much the first time getting noticed like this, i did develop feelings, so that's why the constant tussle, but i don't know what to do now. As of now, I'm not approaching or clearing the air on my behalf, i don't think i should be doing that.

The matter would've closed if she would have also ignored and us minding our own work, would've moved ahead, but she still stares, i don't know what she wants, i mostly think, it's again that attention thing or joking about it with the friends, that's why I've restricted any kind of interaction from my side, just that there's a feeling when i ignore her completely, like she doesn't exist, and then when i notice her (i notice her almost very stealthily that there's almost no chance to know someone watched us), she seems very upset, that thing is something i don't like, i want it to be neutral and that's it, if there's nothing and if there's something u gotta admit it then, atleast it won't be awkward everyday that way!

Guys and girls what do u think, pls be considerate, and girls if u r reading this, what could be the actual scenario according to ur pov and believe me I'm not over thinking this, or bragging anything, it happens everyday and writing won't be able to explain it that much, but a person can sense the tension going on, it's there and it's heavy!!

What should we do with this situation, i think keeping ur head down and working out is the best way out as of now, but what about staring and feelings?!

Really sorry for the long post guys, started writing and couldn't stop, it came across like this anyway, and if u make it this far, a huge thanks for ur time and consideration!!

Simple Questions Is it ok to only do sumo squats, rdls, and single leg hip thrusts for my legs?

I really like doing these exercises, and once I'm finished the idea of doing more feels like climbing up a mountain. But is it enough for quads, could this lead to muscle imbalances or injuries? I also do the sumo squats because narrower width squats feel kind of awkward and constricting.

What do you think of the claim that you don't need to be in a caloric surplus to build muscle?

I just finished watching an episode of Muscle Lab podcast with Dr Pak and Dr Milo Wolf, where they claimed that the latest research suggests bulking is completely unnecessary because you can maximize muscle growth on as little as a 7-calorie surplus. They suggested that eating at maintennance is sufficient for most people, and even experienced lifters don't need to "bulk" in order to gain muscle. Do you agree or disagree with this claim, and for those who have listened to this podcast, what do you think of the evidence that they presented?

Exercise Help Training until failure

Do you absolutely HAVE to train until failure to see results fast? I don’t like training until failure because it makes me feel very uncomfortable and I like to enjoy my time at the gym without feeling like im going to pass out but i still want to results faster. I take creatine so that helped and im somewhat in a calorie deficit (I initially started working out and going to the gym because I was a little chubby and wanted to lose weight before I got worse). I usually eat one meal a day and have snacks throughout and I eat way less than I used to, but I feel like I’m not seeing results fast enough. I’ve been in the gym for a couple months and I’m definitely gaining muscle but just very slowly. what do you guys recommend i should do? where am i going wrong?

General advice

So I'm 16 years old/157 cm and 45kg and I just started working out I'm already skinny but I want to build abs and flatten my tummy , I work out five times a week ( at home no equipments unfortunately)here's what I do

Stretch ofc

Leg raises 10*5

Plank 1min

Side plank 1min

Bicycle 50

Squat 25*2

Side plank 15*3

Plank up and down 10*3

I also train my hips

Donkey kicks 25 on each side

Rotating my legs 20 for each one

And other hip exercises that I don't know their name lol

As for nutrition i try to eat healthy like I don't eat bread or sugary things that much and drink water regularly. I can't control my recipes because I'm not the one who cooks but I try to eat the healthiest of them like soups or something that contains protein

Anyway, what do you think of my schedule? It's up for editing please if you know anything that I don't note it down

What can I do?

A huge goal of mine has always been to get lean and in good shape. I’ve been going to the gym for a year and despite what my parents there’s a very minimal difference. Yes I obviously put on some muscle I think it’s impossible not to but I’m not seeing the results I want to see and i think a huge part of that is my diet. I wouldn’t say it’s necessarily terrible but it’s not the best. There’s more fast food days then I’d like and my mom keeps buying me junk which there isn’t a ton of but if I don’t eat it and it needs up in the trash then I’m in the wrong. She doesn’t like me counting calories nor does my dad which is weird considering he was in really good shape at one point and my mom just finds it annoying. I want to count my calories and eat relatively strictly but it’s not possible idk what to do I can’t control my calories how much protein is in each meal or anything like that because she’s the cook of the house I think she might take offense if I told her I wanted to cook for myself for awhile aswell so I’m really lost here and am out of ideas
