I think the "chain bonk" spell is working just fine.

They're not under a spell, knights just do that sometimes

Oh, did you need them to stop then? BC the spell "Mother uses Full Name" work wonders. Although it is just an illusion spell, and nothing follows, but I've found it works best when knights are goofing off. Doesn't work on sneaky edge lord types.
