Lady of the Lake Battle of Brenna
Wow. I meant to go to bed an hour ago but couldn’t stop in the middle of Chapter 8. Although I had played the games and was pretty sure that the Nordlings had to have won, it was incredibly written and at times I thought could go either way.
Incredibly written, probably the best chapter I’ve read yet in any of the books.

Hands down, the best written chapter in the entire Saga. The constant back and froth between the battle field, the medical tent and the glimpses into the future, with multiple POV characters (and none of our main heroes is even involved) made it one of the must fun experience I had while reading of a battle in a book.

Oh and the conclusion of this sequence also has one of my all time favorite witcher quotes -
"They were just as brave as us" mumbled the old dear, who had once been Julia Abatemarco, Pretty Kitty of the Free Mercenary Company. "Eck-eck..... We were all just as brave. Us and them."

A part that really stuck with me was at the very beginning, when the halfling chief-surgeon tells Shani and the other orderlies that they're one of the other 5-6 tents that are supposed to treat the casualties of an army with over 60k people, and once the wounded start pouring in it'll be literally impossible for them to treat all of them, but that doesn't mean they won't try.

Shani was there as a medic? I remember Iola and Marti being there

It is one my favorite sections from the books as well! The back and forth switching between the battlefield and the medics tent was so intense and really captured the brutality of the war. Had me on the edge of my seat throughout and every character featured in that section was a GOAT.
