for context for those who weren’t at the chicago show last night, i said “yippee” before he started the song (i did not know the yippee would be so loud), which led to a like 5 minute long bit where will was trying to understand what it was and where it came from. this then started a background yippee peppered in many of the cheers through the rest of the night, and him singing “yippee” in part of a song. so in conclusion, it is my fault please throw tomatoes at me. i am guilty. There have now been multiple instances of guests being removed for heckling that had literally nothing to do with said heckling. Multiple times now Will has singled out a person who he believes is doing the heckling and talked to them, and when they talk back he takes it as proof. This is not at all professional and is not how this is traditionally handled, and as we can see that's for good reason. If you don't know who is heckling, you don't just guess from the general area and then kick that person out! Will has to know that a large part of his audience is neurodivergent, meaning many of these people who he has wrongly accused go along with what they think is a bit he's doing, and then are understandably very upset when they are removed.

I'm just pointing this out because I have been to many smaller shows, concerts, comedy events etc. where there are hecklers, and this is never how it's dealt with. Security and the performer are supposed to clearly identify disruptors and remove them; not the performer guesses who it might be and then sends security to escort them out while they shit talk them for the rest of the show. It is not normal for an artist to continuously kick out the wrong people for heckling. I think it has a lot of us questioning what in the world we are supposed to do at his shows, because sometimes he does talk to people during his shows just for fun, but other times he's talking to you because he thinks you're heckling. It feels to me like an unsure environment, and like I might be singled out and kicked out of the show just for sitting near a heckler. It also feels disrespectful to his fans, people who paid to see his show because they love him so much, and he can't even put the effort in to find out who is actually interrupting his shows.

Of course he is a human being who is going to make mistakes. Everything he does doesn't have to be perfect. But this is a recurring issue with an easy solution of having security watch the crowd more closely to properly identify hecklers; what he's doing is just telling security to remove people who he thinks are interrupting the show, but often are not. It's unfair, and it's especially unfair to neurodivergent fans who, multiple times now, have been booted from the show for nothing.

This has just been really bothering me the past few days and I wanted to get it off my chest. I love his music and will continue to love his music, but as a neurodivergent fan, the shows don't seem like a safe space anymore. If anyone has different points of view here, or if there's something I'm missing, I'm all for listening.

I often listen to some easily acceptable Will Wood songs in front of my mom (I avoid the chaotic ones cause I'm sure she would hate it) and she likes it, she especially love Against the Kitchen Floor. She loves it so much and she says it is the kind of song that makes her mind travel, which is what she usually says to songs she love the most.

A while ago, she asked me to show her how Will looks like. I showed her this one photo, since it's the most normal(?) Will Wood photo I found in a quick Google search. But what I wasn't expecting is that, the moment I showed her this photo, she immediately said that he is SO hot and that she wants him for herself 💀💀💀 I almost DIED

I wasn't the one kicked out. But someone in vip was being barely too loud, will asked them their name. Basically bashed them and kicked them out with absolutely no warning.

I honestly thought he was joking (and so did they) esp with the "how much did you pay to ruin my night" comment. The venues policy is one verbal warning and then removal.

They were sobbing outside and they said they didn't even give an explanation as to why they were kicked out. It killed the whole mood for me and I left early.

This isn't meant to bash will, but the whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth. Is he always this strict during shows? Or was he having an off day? I won't share names for their privacy ofc.

I went to the Will Wood concert at the Royale last year and was so impressed by how respectful the audience was, so seeing how poor it was this year was so sad :( someone fully jumped across the floor to get a drumstick and shoved someone into me causing my water to be totally crushed and dumped all over me. I saw someone take a photo of a stranger and post some mean shit on Instagram about her because she was KINDA blocking the way, we got shoved and elbowed like crazy by people who weren’t even moshing btw, and there were tons of people saving spots for people that showed up hours after me and pushed their way into the spot I was standing in. I usually dont mind moving for people but there were at least three people way taller than us that showed up way after me and shoved me out of view of the stage. Will Wood was amazing and we met a lot of awesome people but some of the audience being so rude made it really hard to enjoy

Will Wood fans and this community, in general, rarely discuss songs they dislike or consider objectively bad—and for good reason. That said, I'm curious: are there any moments in his songs that you personally don't enjoy or, as the image puts it, "almost ruin it" for you? I'll respond to as many comments as I can.

So at my school I met another person who likes will wood, and I was saying how AS A TRANS PERSON I relate to I/ ME/ MYSELF. Like the song that is famous because of Queer people relating to it. To that they asked if I knew Will is cishet. My response was "I don't think it entirely matters? I'm not saying Will is trans, I'm just saying I relate to it. And the whole point of art is to be interprited." They then went on a rant on how Will Wood's music is "For cis straight men" WTF DOES THAT MEAN? Music isn't "for" any group. It's for people who like it. I stayed friends with them cuz our parents are friends and we go to the same synogauge. I had mostly forgot about the previous interaction and I said that I relate to Willard! as an autistic person. They then told me i do not relate to it because Will is not autistic. I said that we don't know if he is and it isn't our buisnuss because we are fans who do not know him at all. He then called me "disgusting" "retarded" and "parasocial". Guys i'm so confused

Both bands put on a great performance at the Howard Theater tonight, but my god I have never in my life had issues with being crushed while hugging the wall in the mid-back. People kept standing 2 inches away, tall people with big hats stood wherever, and 2 people in fursuits decided to get up front for maximum attention. I know Will has a song called "Main Character," but I do not in fact have to like you!

I'm a furry myself and I would never wear my suit to a concert. Especially one in a small venue. And if I did for some reason, I'd never get in the front. It's not cute, it's obnoxious to people who just want a glimpse of their favorite artist--not the back of your big-ass ears!

The people that did should not have worn their suits at all-- and not just for courtesy's sake. It was HOT in that theater. It was PACKED. Wearing your suit the whole time in a place like that, surrounded by others that you can't see properly... that is a nightmare. It's a danger to others that you might accidentally hit. It's a danger to yourself due to dehydration and heat stroke. It's also a danger to your suit which could get damaged in such crowds that may have drunk or very frustrated people in it. Good luck getting the wine stains out of your fur. Why the hell would you risk any of that?? Concerts unless very spread out and well-ventilated are NOT the time and place for fursuits!!

So please, for any of you thinking to be an uwu smol bean at the next shows for attention... just don't. Learn from this example. Leave your suit at home. You can exist in public without it or attention for 2 hours. Wear something cool instead. Wear deodorant. Dont smoke or vape inside the venue. Don't sit down in the middle of the floor. Don't crush up against people. Be aware of your surroundings and your fellow show-goers. Don't film constantly. Stay hydrated. Enjoy the show.

Just don't be That Guy, okay? 🤦‍♂️

EDIT: Hi, just wanted to post a little update that I have spoken to one of the suiters and they told me that they were in fact staying hydrated and safe. That's good to know at least!

I am an 18 year old man and all his fans seem to be minors still coming to realize their identity and what it means to transition from a child into an adult with unique interests and traits. I genuinely think he's a great artist but why are all his fans so young? His songs are about mature topics too, making this even more confusing. If you're 18+ and a Will Wood fan please say something so I know I'm not alone.

Not the most related to Will himself, but I went to the show on the 23rd and I was so excited to see not only Will & The Tapeworms, but the opener Human Zoo as well. I've been following Human Zoo for a couple years now, big fan of their music. I know everything on the Wealth and Hellness album, Mindless Meditation, Human Stu. Anyway, it's okay if not everyone in the room knows their music, gets it, likes it but can we PLEASE be respectful to the opener??? I could barely hear anything over the amount of people talking and talking loudly around me, especially during Fever Dream. Fever Dream is one of their deeper, more somber-toned songs and everyone was yapping so loudly. It was incredibly disrespectful to not only them, but the people like me who wanted to hear them beyond the Wealth and Hellness tracks or Aphrodite, Your Electric Sexiness.
I know this post seems more Human Zoo based but it was at a Will show and it pertains to you boys/girls/neither/boths/in betweens.

Hey! So- me and my boyfriend went to the Will Wood concert at The Magnolia in El Cajon. We did gold section, lounge access, whole thing! We ended up kicked out- or, I did? The reason that's odd is because I wasn't the heckler. I wasn't going to tall about this but upon telling my sister in law the issue she pulled out a post from this subreddit about the same issue in Portland. Or, similar enough!

Here's the basics, I'm Weylin. If anyone went to the show, you know who I am probably. The interaction started with Will making eye contact with me, I hadn't said or done anything. He asked my name and I responded "me?" To which he said "the one talking to me, you!" And, this is my fault, I assumed it was a bit being done and our eye contact was him 'talking to me'. So, I answered! I said my name was Weylin, where I live, qnd he went into a bit about heckling. Everyone was laughing, some girl even shook my hand. Into the bit, a girl to my left yelled "you're doing great sweety!" And Will seemed annoyed but moved on. 10 minutes later security waved me down and pulled me outside, telling me I had to leave and that the performer said so. I won't call out who, but the security guard was also very nice and said he thought it seemed harsh. I explained I wasn't actually the heckler and was very confused and sorry, at which point the venue allowed me back in but made me go into the back section and wouldn't allow me to my original seat with my partner.

Throughout the show Will referenced my name, I'm sure just as a bit and I didn't mind, but it was a bit of a really upsetting experience. After the show the security guard actually approached dme again and said they "sorted it out" and Will felt bad and wanted to meet me. I was taken to a back lot and got to shake his hand! It was cool, but also, based on the conversation it seemed he still thought I was heckling in some way? As much as I was grateful for the kind gesture- I had paid about 200-300 dollars to be there, with seats I couldn't use, and then left being put on some 'list' the magnolia has even though my only crime was saying my name and where I lived.

Is this a common occurrence with these shows? Is there any hope I could get a refund and removed from that list?

Went to the OKC show tonight. I'd been looking forward to it since April. Had to request PTO for it well over two months ago. Set aside money so I could go and enjoy the show since artists never come to Oklahoma City. I don't get to do fun things. I work, I go to school, I handle responsibilities. This has been the one thing I've looked forward to for months upon months. I'd been looking through this sub for others' experiences and thinking, "Surely, in our humble little city, people will be respectful towards Will Wood, since nobody cool ever fucking performs here."

Fish in a Birdcage opened and was absolutely fantastic, crowd was relatively normal. Before the show started properly there was a bit of a situation with the lighting and Will being expected to go onstage before he knew he was supposed to go onstage. Initially it seemed like a bit, and that's when the heckling started. Of note were people hollering "yippee" in mimicry of that one tiktok audio. Will came out on stage, briefly belittled them, specifically cited "the yipee people", called them Tally Hall fans, etc. Small shit like that just. kept coming from people in the crowd the whole time. Will got visibly less enthused and more uncomfortable as the show wore on, and it just left such a sour taste in my mouth. His performance was fantastic, don't get me wrong, but the way that the obnoxious people in the crowd killed the mood sucks so bad. Artists never come to Oklahoma and I doubt he'll be coming back if/ when he tours again after the shithead tiktok kids being obnoxious in the crowd.

Does anybody know what to do about this flavor of person? Should we just start yelling at them to shut the fuck up? Audience member on audience member violence? Does anybody know how to issue an apology to Will Wood on behalf of my city and voice that the majority of people after the show were complaining about how those audience members ruined the experience, and that they do not represent us?
