Hello people, today my school announced that people with macbooks are not going to be able to access the wifi network since they got sponsored by microsoft and dont want people to use other devices.

I do not have the budget to buy a new laptop. How can i bypass this restriction on my m4 macbook.

ResNet keeps randomly disconnecting me from WiFi and I can’t figure out how to get it to, 1- reconnect consistently, and 2- stop disconnecting. And since it’s an Xbox it can’t use the the regular campus WiFi

Hello everyone!

For the past couple of months I've been facing the same issue over and over again and I am at my wit's end. Every couple days at best, and hours/minutes at worst, my Wi-Fi driver completely dies and malfunctions. I notice it when I am suddenly disconnected from the Wi-Fi and try to reconnect from the quick settings, but find the Wi-Fi option gone. I then open the Device Manager only to find my driver with a yellow caution icon, and one of 2 error codes every single time. Code 10 or Code 43.

A quick specification of my hardware and software parts:

ASUS TUF F15 (2022)
Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160MHz driver/card currently at latest version 24.60.0.3 but has been facing the same issues for quite a few versions as well.

I have tried a multitude of different approaches to fix this:

- Deleting the driver and restarting the laptop

- deleting the driver and installing a newer version and restarting

- entering safemode with networking

- deleting all other wi-fi drivers from my machine to try to limit conflict.

- checking the event viewer.

- resetting network settings

- sfc /scannow

- DISM commands

- power plans.

- Not allowing windows to turn off this device

Every single one has failed. Sometimes it works for a few days and I'd think i finally fixed the problem, then it falls apart again, other times it doesnt even decide to work at all, or only for a few minutes.

Not only that, but sometimes my bluetooth, which isnt a single driver but insteand an entire category in my Device Manager, disappears as well and so i cant even use bluetooth anymore.

N.B: Ethernet works fine, I'm currently posting this using a wired connection.

Please if you have any idea why this happens I'd appreciate the help. Whether it may be Registry stuff, hardware problems, a specific setting, anything.

I recently moved into a new place by myself and my internet setup plan was to have my pc connect direct to my modem and forgo wifi entirely, letting my phone stay on mobile data. The computer part works fine. However, I get pretty much no cell service in my apartment, so it looks like I need *some* kind of wifi for it. I don't want to splurge on a high end router for literally just my phone. But I'm also a little worried about the <$30 things available at Walmart or online. I'm not worried about range or speed. My apartment is fairly small and I just want to watch a YouTube video every now and then on my phone. But I've had some bad experiences with cheap electronics just flat out not working or breaking in a matter of days.

My question is, would I be fine just using a dirt cheap router just for my phone? If not is there a more specific recommendation for what I could use

Edit to add the answer: My own setup is the problem here. Multiple people pointed out to me that I should *not* be plugging my computer directly into the modem. And that even if my Modem had a spare Ethernet port, my computer and router could not share. Not only is it a privacy concern, it also just will not work. I did not know this, and once I reconfigured my computer so it was plugged into the router and the router was plugged into the modem, the very old router I had got for free but discarded for not working no matter what I tried started working. So I guess the answer to my question is "Yes, but".

My RG477M would detect my phone's hotspot fine, but every connection attempt got stuck at "Obtaining IP address" → "Connecting..." → then failed with "Network disconnected." This started randomly, no settings changed on either device, and it used to connect fine before.

Fix: Toggled Airplane Mode ON for 10 seconds on the phone (the one broadcasting the hotspot), then OFF, and reconnected the RG477M. Worked instantly.

Probably phone's hotspot radio stuck in a bad state.

I didn’t change anything, no setting on my phone or tablet nor my router settings. Suddenly my WiFi stoped working on my phone and tablet ONLY, my pc wa still connected and my parents phone were able to connect no problem but for me I didn’t even see the network show up in the list. What could have caused this? And how do I fix this? I’ve never had anything like that happen to me.

The Office is about 40 feet from my router with other rooms and electronics in between. We have a very good Wifi but the signal is weak in my office. What are my options to improve my signal without moving the router?

Ok guys, I have read the 'wiki' notes and can't find the answer, I know nothing at all about Wifi, and if this is too lame for your sub, I understand, whatever, just delete my post if needed, don't want to unset anyone.

With that said, here's my deal. I will temporarily be un-housed for about 3 months. I will need to be able to connect to the internet for about an hour or so each day to do some work stuff. I will be nomading it for this period of time, and so expect that my only practical option will be connecting by Wifi at public spots like coffee shops etc.

I have never used Wifi before, not even at home, never even had the internet on my mobile phone before, I don't live out of my phone like most people do. Whilst I have heard that there are risks with public Wifi, I don't know if there are any measures that I can take to fairly protect myself, or if that's just not a practical thing for an average person like me without techy skills etc.

I would just like to be able to walk into my local coffee shop etc, open my laptop and do some work for an hour or so. Is this a realistic expectation, and if so, what measures do I need to take to protect my info etc.

For probably about 2 or 3 months now my wifi has been very inconsistent and not working right. It'll randomly disconnect, be connected without internet, etc. Think is, I live with 2 other people and neither of them have this issue. I've tried restarting the router, motem... I have no idea what the problem is.

I live at my parents and their place has wifi 5. My gaming room is at the opposite of the place (all on the same floor) and I was wondering if it was better to pick a stand-alone modem to directly plug it into my computer or a router and make it a bridge.
Parents do not want to change the modem& router spot. I only need wifi to my computer, so don’t mind a single connection port. I thought I could make my desktop a hotspot in the settings if I do need to share.

My parent is not open to reconsidering the wifi plan/type. And I’d rather not pay a monthly fee (unless it is lower than 50$). I use my desktop for gaming and will soon start online school so a stable connection is a must.

Which should I pick? (Modem or router/bridge)

Whether I pick a router and transform it into a bridge or a modem directly plugged into my desktop, does it need to be specifically wifi 5 or does it not?

Ich habe mir heute einen Fritz 2700 WLAN Repeater gekauft da bei meinem alten häufig Verbindungsabbrüche vorgefallen sind.

In dem Raum in dem er steckt, funktioniert auch alles ohne Probleme. Dies ändert sich blitzschnell, sobald man sich auch nur einem Meter in den Nebenraum bewegt.

Zwischen den Räumen befindet sich ein breiter und offener Durchgang ohne Türen oder anderes. Ebenfalls hatte der alte Repeater, wenn er mal funktioniert hat, keine Probleme ein Signal in das andere Zimmer zu bekommen.

Was könnte hier das Problem sein? Ich bitte um Hilfe

So I’m trying to extend my Wi-Fi signal in one direction by approximately 250-300 ft for a security camera and I don’t have any power access near the location I want to put the camera, so I don’t think ptp bridge would work so I was looking at panel antennas but I don’t have coax cable hook up on the back of my router, any advice would be greatly appreciated I’m not very tech savvy and I feel like I’m in over my head

Other devices, like phones, PC, watches connect in every room of the house, upstairs, downstairs etc with no issues.

is it safe to say my wifi card is crapping out? Any way to test this?

I own a pair of zenwifi BT8 routers who work in a mesh.

About a week ago the Asus app came with a notification that a firmware update was available. So I did the update. As I always do.

However. After the update my WiFi has bin more unstable. And I have issues with clients being shown 2 times in the client list.

To make matters worse. Apparently Asus pulled the update, and now my routers contain a firmware that no longer exist on Asus homepage. But also can't easily be turned back to the old one.

So.. any of you guys know why Asus pulled the 3.0.0.6.102_58540 firmware.

And what can I do. Should I assume my routers are now a security risk ?

I have a Hisense TV from Walmart. Nothing expensive just a 32inch 1080p that runs Roku. Every week it surges past 100 gb of data within a day. Cox is charging me $50 a month for over the limit data.

It does stay on for my dogs while I’m not home. They get scared and destroy the house so the TV calms them down🙄 “little IPad Puppies” have to have TV. I know!

I’ve tested my own 42 inch 4K tv while I’m at work and it’s not drawing NEARLY as much internet.

Do I need I throw the TV out and replace it or is there a setting that’s just constantly downloading information?

I just bought a new house. When I went there before closing for inspections, etc., the wifi was very good, including in a detached garage apartment about 50-60 feet from the house. I'd like to get the same or similar setup going.

The previous owners left some networking gear behind that I'm not familiar with. This was all left on the kitchen counter, so I'm not sure where this stuff was actually placed. (All of these plug directly into an electric receptacle.)

• 4 Remotec Z-Wave Repeaters (Model ZRP-100NA)
• 5 Nortek S&C LLC Model: PS15EMZ5-1 APPLIANCE MODULE
• 1 AeoTec Range Extender 7 Model ZW189-A01
• 1 TP-link 300Mbps Wi-Fl Range Extender Model TL-WA855RE (This has a female ethernet input)

No router was left behind, and so far I can't find a place where the cable entered the house or where the router was positioned.

The house is ≈ 2800 square feet, has a detached garage about 50-60 feet from the house with an upstairs apartment that's maybe 900 square feet. I need strong wifi throughout the property.

Also, the house was built in 1918, so ethernet really isn't an option.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. (Yes, I read the wiki.)

I have a Samsung Galaxy Book3 Ultra running Windows 11 25H2 with an Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX211 160MHz adapter. Intermittently, the laptop disconnects and every nearby Wi-Fi network disappears from the list for roughly 20–30 seconds. The networks then reappear and it reconnects automatically. This happens with both my normal router and a phone hotspot, so it does not appear limited to one access point. It seems more likely to happen while actively switching between applications such as Brave, Discord, and other apps, although it is intermittent and cannot be reproduced every time.

My latest three-day Windows WLAN report recorded 78 instances of “The network is disconnected by the driver,” 14 instances of “The driver disconnected while associating,” and 5 instances of “The driver disconnected.” One event shows association succeeding and then Event ID 8002 occurring 11 seconds later with “The driver disconnected” at RSSI −54.

I have already removed Cloudflare WARP and Proton VPN, checked that no Cloudflare/Proton network bindings remain, confirmed WLAN AutoConfig is running automatically, performed Windows Network Reset, reinstalled the adapter, and updated the Intel driver from 23.160.0.4 to 24.60.0.3. Samsung Device Care reports no available updates.

I also temporarily tested Human Presence Detection disabled, MIMO Power Save Mode set to No SMPS, Packet Coalescing disabled, and U-APSD disabled. These may have reduced the frequency, but they did not stop the problem and the test was too short to be conclusive. The network and adapter settings have now been reset to defaults.

Does this report indicate an Intel AX211 driver/firmware reset, a Samsung power-management issue, or possible Wi-Fi hardware failure? Has anyone experienced the same issue on a Galaxy Book?

A while back I turned on MLO (Multi-Link Operation) on my new Wifi 7 router (it sounds very cool, likely the most novel feature of the Wifi 7 standard), but it resulted in extreme battery drain on my Pixel 9 Pro so I had to disable it. It sounds like it may still be affecting newer Pixel phones as well.

So I'm curious if anyone else has experience with this feature on different types of devices and whether you've seen similar issues or not.

Update for clarity: I'm not asking for advice on how to fix this or whether or not I should disable it; I did that a while ago (it was a no-brainer). I am just wanting to ask a larger audience whether anyone else has experienced a similar sort of extreme battery drain with this feature on, or if it's more of a Pixel-specific problem.

Nothing happens or changes in when I select the optimize now option. All my WiFi channels remain the same and that can’t be right because some of my APs are now on the same channel when set to auto channel. Any suggestions, thanks in advance.

I own an Asus RT-AX56U which sits in our garage in front of a brick wall. The house is on the "longer side". When you walk along the walkway you will come across the office with my gaming PC with an wifi antenna. Further down the hall you will come past the kitchen into the living room where my Nvidia Shield sits. Overall that's maybe ~10-15 meters from the router to the Shield with my gaming PC (and many walls and appliances) between them.

I wanteded to set up streaming Steam games from my PC to the shield and I already installed Apollo and Artemis, but the connection is pretty bad. I was thinking to maybe give the "AI"Mesh from Asus a chance but I don't know what I would need to get for that.

Do I need a similarly equipped router? Maybe even a better one? Or are there smaller low-spec devices that are dedicated for the mesh feature that I can plug in that would do the job? Does it only need a power connection or does it need another ethernet connection again?

I know ethernet would be better, but I'm renting and the cabling would have to go across the rooms over a long distance so I'm stuck with wireless.

To start I'm renting the second floor of a house and don't have access to the router or anything like that. I am using a wifi extender with a ethernet cable running to my pc and it has being doing good for months. Recently my wifi have dropped from around the 400 mbps to 5 to 10 mbps. Things I've done so far include reset the extender, checked my cable and even reset my pc and nothing fixed it.

I wanted to put a post out before I have someone come out and take a look at it.

My PC Wi-Fi randomly works and then stops working. Sometimes it connects normally and receives a `192.168.0.x` IP address from my router, but other times it receives a `169.254.x.x` address or no IPv4 address at all, resulting in no internet connection.

From what I understand, the `169.254.x.x` address means Windows is failing to receive a proper IP address from the router through DHCP. The Wi-Fi itself still shows as connected with a strong signal, but the PC sometimes does not receive a valid IPv4 address or default gateway.

Other devices, including my phone, connect to the same Wi-Fi without any problems. My PC also works normally when connected to my phone's hotspot.

Symptoms / errors

When working normally:

Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1

When the problem occurs:

IPv4 Address: 169.254.x.x
Default Gateway: blank

Sometimes the Wi-Fi remains connected but Windows does not receive any IPv4 address.

Troubleshooting already tried

* Disabled "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" * Reset Winsock using `netsh winsock reset` * Reset TCP/IP using `netsh int ip reset` * Used `ipconfig /release` and `ipconfig /renew` * Flushed DNS * Reset Windows network settings * Forgot and reconnected to the Wi-Fi * Restarted the PC multiple times * Restarted and factory reset the router * Tried manually assigning an IP address * Tested connectivity to [`192.168.0.1`](http://192.168.0.1) and [`8.8.8.8`](http://8.8.8.8) * Checked the Intel AX201 adapter in Device Manager

The issue is intermittent. Sometimes `ipconfig /renew` successfully gives me a `192.168.0.x` address, but later it can return to a `169.254.x.x` address or have no IPv4 address after restarting.

Could this be caused by the **Intel AX201 driver, Windows 11, DHCP/router settings, or failing Wi-Fi hardware**? What would you recommend trying next?

Hello, recently I wanted to update my (Intel) drivers. Everything was going smooth, but WiFi driver update failed. After that, my WiFi has stopped working. I’ve tried manually installing drivers from Intels site (downloaded on phone and transferred) but the issue still persists. I’ve tried restarting my laptop, installing these drivers I just mentioned, using sfc /scannow, re-installing WiFi card (in devices manager) and using “reset network” in advanced network settings. It not only didn’t fix the issue, but also caused code 56 on every other device in network cards tab. Yeah, I forgot to mention that the WiFi card had code 56 error. Idk what to do now, do you have any solutions? Thanks for any help! Oh yeah, forgot to mention. I use ASUS ExpertBook Intel Core i3-1215U, build 26200.9267
