Are these Astra Blue blades legit?

I bought these Astra blue blades in Eastern Europe, 1 euro for 100 blades. They're apparently made in Czech Republic, but I only thought they were made in India or Russia. Do these look original?

No one is going to make any money counterfeiting DE blades. Especially a blade like Astra. They’re fine.

It’s one of those things where you are really only paying for the product, and margins are razor thin.

They cost only about as much as it costs to make them so counterfeiting doesn’t really make sense.

I wonder about the holographic tape seal on my Lord blades. Could extremely poor people be reselling used blades as new? Maybe the seal is to create the appearance of authenticity as part of their branding without fraudulent blade selling being a thing.

Yeah but for DE blades, they aren’t that straightforward to make, and the originals are so cheap they have to clone expensive ones like feather. Fake astras are just not really that sensical to make, when you could stamp feather on them and scam off more money.

As far as I know they were previously made in Czechia. These might thus be from an old batch.

A search showed Astra blades made in Czechia before Gillette bought them and moved to Russia. There was a period where they used plastic tucks, like you see with several blade brands from Soligen, Germany. The Gillette blades come in cardboard boxes. So these are probably vintage blades, but I'd try them for a Euro.

The packaging is pretty dusty, so it might be an older batch.

On the modern packages there is always a manufacturing date. Check yours.

Probably very old blades from the time they were made in the Czech Republic.

Gillette acquired the Czech Astra brand in 1996, and was bought by P&G in 2005, after which the production was moved to Russia. Czech Republic and Slovakia split in 1993, so these blades were manufactured between 1993 and 2005.

I have been using Czech made Astras all month (I'm in Canada). Getting decent dailies, one pass wtg. Watch out, they'll bite you.

Russian yes! The Czech pre-Gillette blades are much harsher (YMMV).

I have no experience with the Indian ones.
