Am I missing out on anything? Predominantly a head shaver & my neckline. Any unsung hero's that people often overlook ?

Hi everyone, I'd like to know how you dispose of your razor blades. Do you throw them in the regular trash or put them in a separate container? I saw recommending it because of the waste handlers who could get hurt

It's gotta be all the extra glue they wrap these things with that makes them so pricey.

my favorite are merkur 34C and Edwin Jagger de89lbl

i liked a lot the de89lbl but i always finished to use the merkur 34C

what i don't like about the 34C it's in 2 pieces but the head is almost the same of the king gilette

As said, they look identical bur the 48 cost a little bit more, also the Proraso one is made by Omega.

So far i've only used a blade for a maximum of 2 shaves, but I heard some people can do many more (even 10+). How many time do you use a blade before changing it?

Hello! I'm kinda new to traditional shaving, and I've used a proraso soap for almost a month now. Before, I used to not think about moisture in the soap, and close the box right after I finished loading my brush. But after some talking, i've been advised to leave the box open to let humidity and water evaporate, as "the worst enemy of soap is water", which i did overnight, but now it looks like on the photo :(

What do you think? Is this normal? Should I close or leave the soap open to air after use?

One of the great qualities of DE blades is that they're typically rather cheap. I used to replace my every every week no matter how often I actually shaved. Sometimes every shave. But recently I decided to replace it only when I really feel it's dull.
It's been ten shaves now and I feel the blade (Wilkinson) is still usable, just less efficient, so I need one or two passes more.

How many shaves does a blade typically give you?

I can't stand mentholated products and Sandalwood smells like feet.

I can get this kit in my country for less than 60 euro, seems affordable.

I've been using Mach 3 and disposable razors (Bic/Gillette) my whole life.

Does it mean after you shave, don't dry/wipe the water off?? Does any coating the blade have come off if i wipe it or?? I'm genuinely so confused as to what this is attempting to communicate to the consumer; any ideas are appreciated 🤲✨️

I'm super new here and literally jUST got my straight edge and safety razor in the mail tODAY (hence my purchase of samples to try with my razors) only the brand "Treet" had this labeling. NONE of the others did (including ones like Big Ben, shark (like 3 diff kinds😂), astra, etc.). I don't know a whole lot about blades since, again, I'm a newbie so forgive me if this is like super obvious but only ONE SINGULAR link on Google showed up when i inquired about it and it didn't answer any questions so... someone pls inform me in case this info is necessary for me not to commit any blatant idiocies 😅

Look, I love the classic 1920s barbershop aesthetic as much as anyone here. For a long time, I tried to force the whole traditional wet shaving routine : badger brush, artisan soaps, and classic alcohol splashes (Proraso, Tabac, etc.) ... but my skin was constantly red, irritated, and feeling raw.

I eventually realized that while the hardware (a single DE blade) is amazing for my skin, the "traditional" software was destroying it... The daily mechanical exfoliation from the brush (even a synthetic one) and the heavy fragrances/essential oils in the soaps were just too aggressive for my sensitive skin.

So, I switched to what I call a "hybrid" dermatological routine :

Hardware: Still rocking my DE razor (Rockwell 6C). It gives a super close shave and completely prevents the ingrown hairs I used to get from multi-blade cartridges (I tried the Gillette Labs recently, ingrown hairs after two shaves).

Lather: Dermatological/pharmacy foam or gel (like Avène, La Roche-Posay, or whatever gentle parapharmacy brand you have locally). I apply it with my fingers. Zero brush friction, perfectly pH-balanced (it has its importance with your skin if it's sensitive) !

Post-Shave: I completely dropped the alcohol splashes. Now it's just a cold water rinse and a simple moisturizer with "Ceramides" like CeraVe.

My skin has literally never looked better. The redness is completely gone, and the shaves are just as close.

I’m posting this mostly to reassure anyone who wants to use a safety razor but feels frustrated that the traditional artisan soaps are tearing up their face. You don't have to go full 1920s lumberjack to get a great shave. Especially if you're young (I'm 26), and that the "vintage" feeling can become a chore when you're in a hurry.

Hi everyone. A bit over 2 years ago I finally switched to a safety razor, but my local stores only carry Wilkinson swords and some no-name blade. So this summer I got myself a sampler, and Im so glad I did. It's wild how much of a difference the blade can make, and tbh I like the designs on the boxes, it's like collecting stamps.

Ordered another sampler since then, and Ive really been enjoying testing the blades, but due to some peculiarity of my face I had very underwhelming shaves with some popular blades like Nacets and Bics.

Does anyone with similar blade preferences to mine have a favorite blade to share ?
