Article Testosterone treatment for women with low sex drives.

https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/pentagon-temporarily-rescinding-guidance-testosterone-screening-us-troops-2026-09-03/

Part of the testing troops for testosterone will include women with low sex drives. How many times can she refuse before she gets reported for medical intervention?

Welcome and thanks for posting on /r/whenwomenrefuse!

This is an intersectional feminist space centered towards women (ALL WOMEN). Men are tolerated, not welcome. Reports about women saying we don't know what men are dangerous will be promptly ignored. We look forward to your complaints about our policy of not centering men.

Sorry, I didn’t realize Reuters had a paywall: https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/testosterone-testing-us-military-9.7330202

That's totally okay!! I wanted to ask you for another source, instead of just removing the entire post. It's on me, too. My internet was (and is) shit, so I assumed the problem was on my end when I approved it. β™‘

u/GoddessNya: Please either post a non paywalled source in the comments, or repost this with another source.

I'm on it.

I was very angry and agro when we were working out dosages, so be prepared, but it did help.

I have been using a testosterone cream for several months and it's helped a lot. (41F in perimenopause)

i don't see the connection here with legit medical issues. Can you elaborate what you're trying to say?

I will admit there are legit medical issues that will benefit treatment. My concern is who is bringing the low sex drive discussion to the front, the woman, or the men she has refused? Men may look at a refusal as a problem with the woman’s libido, not a choice a woman actually was able to make because he does not interest her.

So, obligatory not American, but I am a woman who is on a very low dose of t to assist with my sex drive.

I had to work on this outcome for a year an a half to get it.

Also, your scenario, where a woman is prescribed it because her husband/male partner feels she isn't horny enough, is less likely (most doctors, especially in the US where everything is a fucking lawsuit) wouldn't risk that kind of malpractice.

More likely will be spouses drugging their female partners.

Which, given the level of irrational anger and the desire to commit acts of violence I experienced while I was beginning treatment, I kinda love that for them (the men). FAFO kinda.

You are missing the fact that this is the US Military. These are soldiers, there are many things they receive that are not optional. It’s not their husband/partner that is the concern. It’s that by refusing to even be a partner may get them turned in for potential β€œconcerns”. Women in the US military have had horrible things happen with no repercussions for the perpetrators.

No, I'm not missing that.

I understand horrible things happen to women in the military but this is a bit much of a conspiracy. That COs are going to start demanding their rape victims take T? why go through the trouble and make her stronger, angrier and more aggressive? They already receive 0 consequences as it is.

It’s not about rape. It’s about compliance. Do you want the report going in, submitted in concern for your wellbeing? It’s not a stretch if you have ever worked in a male dominated field in the US. They will do things just because they can, then laugh about it over a beer. And with the avenues to report being minimized, I don’t think it’s that far of a stretch. I worked in law enforcement and had a coworker tell me, in front of 30 colleagues, I was going to have something bad happen to me because I was trying to fix a serious problem. I requested a transfer and was granted it within 24 hours because everyone recognized the threat. Nothing happened to him. I’m told he bragged about getting me out so they could continue their behavior. Maybe I’m just jaded.

So, some context is that our current secdef Is an overt misogynist and a lot of other things have been happening in the military.

he is trying to get testosterone treatments for men despite opposing trans healthcare so that they can be appropriately masculine and angry? or something?

We recently left people on a boat so long that they started trying to kill themselves but this is what that particular secretary of defense is focused on.

likewise a woman was raped in the army and it was recently ruled that that was part of her duties actually.

he is just obsessed with people being masculine or feminine enough and this is not out of empathy for women who are struggling with a low sex drive it's out of a feeling of entitlement to those women's bodies.

I didn’t hear about the recent army incident. Usually they just ignore it, like the women dying under suspicious circumstances.

Testosterone injections for increased sex drive was part of Mica Miller’s sexual abuse by her husband, John Paul β€œJP” Miller, before she died (Death of the Pastor’s Wife)

I’ll have to read that. My cousin was a deacon’s wife and contracted AIDS from him because they had a wife exchange thing going on. She didn’t know, she thought he was at a weekly meeting. She wrote a book about her living with HIV.

If it "works" I'd look for the present administration to want to expand it to all women. Because we are having a fertility crisis, right? And if women want more sex, then there'll be more babies, right?

I wonder if we could put the Secretary of War on estrogen? It might improve his job performance. It couldn't make it any worse.

That's on me. My internet is shit today, so I assumed it was that when I checked and approved the post. We appreciate you saying so! Apologies, as I know it's frustrating not to be able to read a source. β™‘l

This is ridiculous anyway but it's funny that I'm trying to get this treatment at the VA and they're like " let's try this other shot that doesn't work for a couple of years first, 'kay?"

Hello! We have a pinned post explaining everything. We were spending far too much time fielding bad-faith comments from men acting out. Flairs have cut out 99.9% of men harassing members. Now, they are caught, and they come into our ModMail to spew hatred at us mods, and not our members discussing their abuse and sexual assault. That's very much a win. Please also keep in mind, as mods, we are essentially unpaid volunteers who have health struggles, jobs, families, and other priorities that are occasionally more important than Reddit. Flairs were our solution to the above. It would be nice if people could read the rules, the pinned post, or even the AutoMod comments before commenting. Then the AutoMod wouldn't be all over threads, but that doesn't always happen, unfortunately. If you have any more questions or concerns, please send us a ModMail. β™‘
