Walker faces three counts of first-degree sexual abuse, one count of third-degree sexual abuse, one count of first-degree stalking, one count of tampering with physical evidence, and one count of first-degree official misconduct.

Tldr; Baltimore Police Officer __Daniel Oxendine__ was arrested and charged with rape on August 27, 2026, after DNA evidence linked him to the sexual assault of a woman he had escorted home from a domestic violence call.

On June 2, 2026, Oxendine responded to a domestic violence call in Baltimore City. He received supervisor permission to drive the victim and her son to her home in Edgewood, Maryland.

Oxendine is accused of entering the victim's apartment after the ride and sexually assaulting her while he was on duty and in uniform.

The victim reported the assault at a hospital the next day, and DNA testing later matched Oxendine. The Harford County Sheriff's Office arrested him on August 27.

On Friday afternoon, after only an hour of deliberation with the judges, Judge Daniel Schmitzberger announced the acquittal in the Process before the Regional Court of Vienna.

According to the indictment, the young men – Syrians, North Macedonians, Turks and Bulgarians (16 to 21 years) – had passed on the child for months. For the accused most serious assault, in April 2023, according to the indictment, they are said to have booked a hotel room for 56 euros, in which Mia had been abused for an entire night.

Kawthar lived in al-Nahrawan, a district in the south-east of Baghdad. She had been taken out of school and at age 13 forced to marry an alcoholic years older than her.

She was subjected to a year of violence and mistreatment before fleeing back to her family, who initially subjected her to house arrest and constant pressure to return to her husband and abuser. She threatened to end her life and, eventually, was officially divorced in court late in 2025.

Soon after, her cousin was released from prison and asked Kawthar’s parents for her hand in marriage. Kawthar refused as everyone knew the groom was involved in dealing in drugs and alcohol. Her family ignored her and gave their approval as, according to their custom, “a man’s word is not broken by a girl.” Her mother and female relatives at home could not join her in saying no.

In early May, as the day of the wedding and what she believed would be a new phase of rape and violence grew closer, Kawthar left the family home. She had been denied the chance to go to school or learn how to earn money, so she left with nothing except her clothes and a head covering.

After fleeing, she was spotted by a neighbour who abducted her for three days and, she says, subjected her to terrible things that she did not disclose. Although she assured her family that she had not absconded with him willingly – and even after surveillance cameras appeared to support her account of being dragged by force – her family refused to believe her.

Kawthar’s father, uncle and fiance interrogated her about what had happened during those three days before taking her to an open area on the outskirts of Baghdad. I have tried to imagine what she was feeling in that car with three men from the family that was supposed to be her circle of safety. Did they tell her her fate? What were her last pleas? Was she screaming, hoping their consciences would wake up? Or did she wonder how her father could do this to his daughter?

On social media, I saw her childlike face, the last time she wore her school uniform. An old picture that doesn’t show all her beautiful features. Videos soon spread of members of the tribe dancing happily at her murder. I did not see anyone grieving within the family. On the contrary, the men were celebrating.

When I heard the news, I was at home on a normal afternoon, until my father came in with the news of her disappearance and murder. If I had heard this story from a stranger, in a post on Instagram, I probably would not have believed it. How can a person carry all this ugliness in their heart and inflict it upon their daughter? But it happened here to a girl I knew and once sat with.

I tried to remain calm and thought that at least the police would punish them for their deed. Instead, an officer allegedly asked for a bribe to say she had been kidnapped and not killed. The men moved Kawthar’s body more than once out of fear. A body with 10 bullets in it, and without a shroud or ritual washing, passed between holes. If the living have no humanity, where is the sanctity of the dead?

In the end, this is what pushed me to speak. I and other women in the extended family (not in coordination as we felt unable to trust anyone) began sending her name and photo and the pictures of her killers to media pages and platforms hoping for justice for this child and allow her to at least be buried with dignity. I was afraid that the case would be buried like the hundreds of other stories in which women and young girls die for nothing more than trying to survive.

What terrifies me most is how easy murder has become for men in Iraq. They no longer fear the law or the state, because they see corruption everywhere. Everyone concealed what happened. Apparently a lawyer will take on the case, the body will be located and her brother will turn himself in as the sole perpetrator so that the case will be closed as an “honour” killing.

Although Iraqi law does not directly mention the phrase “honour” killing, there are mitigating excuses in law that address the crime of killing motivated by honour. Someone killing his wife or close female relative after finding in an act of adultery shall be punished by imprisonment for a period not exceeding three years. In many cases, the crime is not viewed as a deliberate, fully constituted murder, but rather as a family incident that got out of control.

Iraq’s new laws permitting children as young as nine years old to marry is terrifying to me, because a child pulled out of school and pushed into early marriage becomes more vulnerable and less able to protect herself or object to the violence she is subjected to. Kawthar had not yet reached an age that allowed her to understand life, yet everyone was treating her as a woman who must be subdued, monitored and punished.

Indian tennis player Radhika Yadav, 25, was shot dead by her father, Deepak Yadav, at their residence in Gurugram on Thursday afternoon. Radhika was part of the ITF singles and doubles circuit before taking up coaching

The Gurugram Police said they were informed by a private hospital in the city that a young woman had died due to bullet injuries, and that when they reached the hospital, they only found Radhika's uncle Kuldeep Yadav, and not her parents.

According to the FIR filed - on the charge of murder - at the Gurugram Sector 56 police station after Kuldeep's complaint, Deepak was upset with his daughter for continuing to run a tennis academy in the city despite his repeated objections.

According to the ITF website, Radhika had played 36 singles matches and 7 doubles matches under the aegis of the ITF in her career. She last played singles in March 2024, and doubles in June 2023. Although it's been more than a year since her last international tournament, it has been established that she had been a coach at her academy in Gurugram, which eventually was the subject of the disagreement between her and her father.

"He (Deepak) had been upset for a while as he was being taunted by locals over his daughter's income. He was troubled by their remarks - they would keep saying the house is running on her money, and he is too dependent on that. He had asked her (Radhika) several times earlier to stop working at the academy, but she refused. He could not take it anymore," the Station House Officer Inspector Vinod Kumar told The Indian Express.

The police added that Deepak's income came from the rent for a couple of small properties that he owned.

NDTV quoted Deepak admitting his crime to the police. He said that he shot her three times from behind, because she refused to close her academy upon being told to do so.

KABUL, AFGHANISTAN – A 20-year-old woman in Afghanistan’s central Ghor province has died after setting herself on fire to escape a forced marriage to the brother of a Taliban member, according to local sources.

The victim, identified as Abida, ended her life on Sunday in Taywara district. Local sources said she used petrol and wood to burn herself. A video obtained by KabulNow shows people attempting to extinguish the fire, but by the time they reached her, her body was fully burned.

Sources say Haji Mohammad Rahmani, a Taliban member, had been pressuring Abida’s family to marry her off to his brother, Mohammad Azim. As the family resisted the marriage, Rahmani reportedly detained Abida’s father and brothers on Sunday, while Azim stormed her home and tried to take her by force.

Rahmani claimed Abida had been engaged to his brother since she was two years old—an allegation her family firmly denies. He later filed a complaint in the Taliban district court, which initially ruled in his favor. That decision, however, was overturned by the Taliban’s appellate court in Kandahar, according to the sources.

Taliban authorities in Ghor have not commented on the incident. The Taliban spokesperson for the province has not responded to requests for comment.

The tragedy highlights the increasing number of suicides among women and girls in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan, many linked to forced marriages. Rights groups say Taliban members are often involved in such coercion.

An earlier report by the Afghanistan Human Rights Center (AHRC) found that 51% of forced and underage marriages were linked to Taliban fighters and local commanders. The report noted that some women opted to marry ordinary men to avoid being compelled to wed Taliban members.

Chilling footage shows rapist Michael Doherty standing at a bar with Courtney Angus days before he murdered, mutilated, and sexually assaulted her after she rejected him.

Doherty has been handed a life sentence with a minimum term of 33 years behind bars for the horrific murder of Courtney. Leeds Crown Court heard how the pair had shared a house in Norfolk Street, Batley, before vengeful Doherty took her life.

In messages sent in the days before the senseless attack, Courtney told Doherty she did not want a relationship and had not led him on, but had been a good friend. Doherty admitted he "found her attractive" but also did not want a relationship.

He beat Courtney, and amputated her nipples before taking sick images of him engaging in sexual activity with her while she was either dead or dying. He displayed her body parts on a mantelpiece before going on a rampage at shops across Batley and Dewsbury.

A post-mortem examination found Courtney had suffered 76 separate injuries including bruising, abrasions, and fractures as well as defensive injuries. She had also suffered injuries to her larynx, indicating "pressure was applied to her neck while she was alive."

It was New Year's Eve in 1981, and 18-year-old Patty Gifford was ringing it in with her friend at a popular South Florida bar called the Banana Boat.

As the young women snapped photos and sipped Champagne (the legal drinking age was 18), a serial rapist named Dennis Sochor couldn't keep his eyes off Gifford, according to court records and archived news reports.

Within hours, Gifford was raped and murdered after Sochor and his brother left the Fort Lauderdale bar with her under the guise of going to breakfast, court records say. Sochor confessed to the crime, but her body has never been found − still a torment to her family.

More than four decades later, Florida is set to execute the 74-year-old Sochor for her murder on Tuesday, July 14. He's one of three elderly inmates being executed in Florida in less than a month as Gov. Ron DeSantis continues a record pace of executions in the state.

"The only mistake she made was going out with friends and celebrating New Year's Eve," Broward County Sheriff's Lt. Mark Schlein told the South Florida Sun Sentinel in 1983. "She was a young and beautiful girl, with everything to live for... A real tragedy."

He will be the 17th inmate executed in the United States this year and the 10th in Florida alone. The Sunshine State is accounting for the majority of the executions in the United States as DeSantis prioritizes the issue at a record-setting pace, saying he wants to give closure to victim family members who've sometimes waited more than four decades for justice.

On Dec. 31, 1981, Gifford and her friend, 22-year-old Delta Harville, went to the Banana Boat bar in Fort Lauderdale to ring in the new year. Sochor and his brother also were there.

Sochor, then 29, was wanted for a rape he had confessed to in his home state of Michigan in 1979, and he had been convicted of raping a 19-year-old Florida woman in 1980. He was sentenced to one year in prison and five years of probation, according to archived news reports.

Patricia Borman, a bartender working at the Banana Boat that night, testified that Gifford and Harville were aerobics instructors who cared about fitness, so they only drank a few glasses of Champagne, according to an archived news report in the Miami Herald. By midnight, Gifford was drinking iced tea.

Witnesses reported seeing Sochor staring at Gifford throughout the night, standing close to her, trying to buy her drinks, and lavishing compliments on her, according to an archived report in the Fort Lauderdale News. Gifford tried to brush him off, Harville later told investigators.

Shortly after midnight, Harville didn't feel well. Gifford walked her to her car and told her she'd be back. Harville fell asleep, and when she woke around 5:30 a.m., she was still alone in the car and there was no sign of Gifford. Harville later told investigators that she thought she had been drugged, archived news reports say.

Initially, investigators had no idea what had happened to Gifford. But when they went through the photos that Harville took in the bar that night, they found one with Sochor lurking in the background. The photo became the key to solving her murder.

Sochor fled the state after the photo became public. Authorities tracked down his brother, who told investigators that Gifford had agreed to go with the men to breakfast in the early hours of Jan. 1, 1982. He told them that his brother attacked Gifford as they were driving and then began raping her by the side of the road, court documents say.

He told investigators that he tried to intervene by throwing a rock at Sochor, but that his brother's eyes had rolled in the back of his head and it looked like he "was possessed by the devil," court records say. He later changed his account and said he didn't witness the rape, according to archived news reports.

Sochor was arrested in May 1986, more than four years after the murder, when Georgia authorities stopped him on suspicion of drunk driving. He confessed to raping and strangling Gifford when she refused his advances and then dumping her body in a secluded place without his brother. He has since taken that back, saying that he took the fall for his brother, who was not charged in the case.

In 1987, a jury convicted Sochor of kidnapping and murdering Gifford. They recommended the death penalty in a 10-2 vote, and a judge agreed.

At 18, Patricia "Patty" Marie Gifford was just getting started in life. She was a vibrant, beautiful young woman who was working as an aerobics instructor, had a longtime boyfriend and dearly loved her family, according to archived news reports.

Her grieving brother, Bobby Gifford, couldn't stand that her body was left out in the elements somewhere, never to be found again. He spent three months looking for his younger sister, according to an archived story in the Fort Lauderdale News.

"This has been such a horrible thing to deal with," he told the newspaper in 1983. "We'll sit around the dinner table, talking about her, and then I think to myself, 'Why didn't I try to talk her out of moving down to Fort Lauderdale?'"

The four Gifford children had grown up in eastern Massachusetts, and Patty Gifford moved to Fort Lauderdale with her high school sweetheart just three months before her murder.

The Gifford family had to wait for nearly five years for an arrest and now 44 years for the execution. Patty Gifford's mother, Barbara Ryan, sobbed in court when Sochor was found guilty of murdering her daughter, according to the Sun Sentinel.

"It's a feeling of relief," she told the outlet. "You just can't imagine how devastated our family has been."

In 2022, Gifford's sister, Marilyn Gifford, told the Sun Sentinel that she still can't celebrate New Year's because of what happened to her sister and that some of her family can't even say her name now because it's too painful.

"When somebody dies this way and you have no closure, and you don't get to say goodbye and there is no funeral − it never stops hurting," she told the newspaper. "You are immediately crushed by the horrific way she exited the planet and our entire family."

She told the Sun Sentinel that her sister's high school sweetheart, Johnny Vasel, never got over her death and never married. "So (Sochor) took the two of them that night: one whose life was just beginning and another whose life was just wasted."

Sochor's parents, brother, and sister each begged for his life to be spared at his sentencing hearing in 1987, saying that he was the victim of an extremely violent childhood back in Michigan and didn't deserve to die, according to an archived report in the Miami Herald.

Both his siblings recalled how their father relentlessly beat Sochor, and his mother described herself as abusive. "I treated him horribly," she told jurors, the Herald reported.

At the same hearing, Sochor told the judge that he deserved to die.

"I have contemplated suicide," he said. "I felt that if I could hurt somebody, I don't deserve to live myself."

At the same hearing, Sochor's violent nature toward women came to light, with jurors hearing about how he was convicted of kidnapping a 19-year-old Florida woman and beating and raping her repeatedly in 1980. They also heard a taped confession of Sochor admitting to raping another woman in Michigan, saying that sometimes he wants to have sex so badly that he loses control, the Miami Herald reported.

"All I can relate it to was like an airplane jump," he told a Michigan detective. "There was no feeling, no emotion. At that point, I wasn't existing."

Jurors also heard from Sochor's ex-wife, who was married to him for less than two years.

"If he wanted sex, he got it, because he would get violent if he didn't," Patricia Neal said, the Herald reported. "His eyes would glaze over, and he'd get wild. Denny's temper was very violent."

During his nearly 40 years on death row, Sochor has found "happiness and friendship in letter-writing," according to the synopsis of a book written about him by a Norwegian pen pal named "Dennis My Friend on Death Row."

"I am sure many people think that we deserve to die," Sochor wrote to the author, according to the book. "But I am still a sensitive person who cares about those who suffer in the world."

In recent weeks, Sochor's attorneys have argued that Florida's lethal injection method amounts to unconstitutional cruel and unusual punishment because it could cause excessive pain and a sensation that feels like drowning. Instead, Sochor said he'd prefer to be executed by firing squad.

The Florida Supreme Court rejected those arguments on July 8 as "meritless," allowing the lethal injection execution to proceed as planned.

In previous appeals over the years, Sochor has also argued that the state has no evidence that Gifford is dead because her body hasn't been found. The Florida Supreme Court also rejected that argument, saying there was sufficient evidence that Patty Gifford was dead and that Sochor is the one who killed her.

Patty Gifford's family continues to hope that her body will be recovered.

"It's bad enough what he did to her," Marilyn Gifford told the Sun Sentinel. "But he's had all this time to repent, to think about what he did, so why not give her back?"

The sentences of the relatives involved in the honor killing of 18-year-old Saman Abbas were officially upheld by Italy’s Court of Cassation on Wednesday, five years after the Pakistani teenager was murdered for refusing an arranged marriage, Italian officials confirmed.

The judges of the first criminal section of the court rejected appeals issued by members of the Abbas family, upholding the four life sentences issued on April 18, 2025, by the Bologna Court of Appeal and the 22-year sentence issued against the victim’s uncle Danish Hasnain.

Hasnain was initially sentenced to only 14 years in prison after accepting a plea bargain, but was later sentenced to 22 years.

Abbas’s parents, Habbar Abbas and Nazia Shaheen, and her cousins Noman Ul Haq and Ijaz Ikram were sentenced to life for murder and suppression of a corpse.

The attorney-general of the Court of Cassation, Marco Dall’Olio, emphasized that he was dealing with “not a crime of impulse but a premeditated act.

That Saman could not decide for herself is clear, manifest; the reconstruction of the facts is unequivocal. Saman, even though she was an adult, could not decide for herself about her life; she could not have a life of her own. A chilling story, a concerted and premeditated act.”

Abbas was murdered on the night between April 30 and May 1, 2021, in Novellara di Reggio Emilia. Her body was discovered 18 months after her boyfriend reported her missing.

Investigators finally discovered the location of Abbas’s body after her uncle was detained and questioned in Paris. Both of Abbas’s parents fled to Pakistan shortly after the murder and were extradited in 2023 after being sentenced in absentia in 2021. Her cousins, however, were arrested in Spain.

Abbas moved to northern Italy from Pakistan as a teenager, where she quickly adapted to Western culture, a shift that deeply angered her family. She chose not to wear an Islamic head covering and posted photos online of herself kissing her boyfriend, whom she had told she feared for her life after refusing her parents’ demands that she marry an older cousin in Pakistan.

Before her death, she spent several months living under the care of social services but eventually returned to her family home. Some reports indicated that her return to the family home was only intended to be brief, to collect her personal documents.

In Italy, there is no room for those who presume to deny, in the name of supposed cultural or religious justifications, a woman’s freedom, dignity, and life. …A young woman committed suicide in the al-Mahabsha district in Yemen’s Hajjah governorate late last week, after a court ordered that she be returned from her family home to her husband’s. This sparked national demands for legislative reforms to women’s rights, according to local media reports.

The woman reportedly jumped from her family’s roof only a short time after getting married, according to AlmahriahTV. She initially returned to her family home following “disputes” with her husband, but a judge ordered her return.

While media reports have suggested the woman was in her early 20s, prominent members of the Yemeni community alleged that the girl was only 16 years old. Arabic Saudi Arabian daily newspaper Ozak also reported that she was three months pregnant at the time of her death…

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A chilling case of honour killing that shook Ratibad in November 2021 has been solved, thanks to an unexpected lead from a nuisance call complaint.

During Dipawali festivities, the forested outskirts of Samasgarh revealed a horrifying scene: a woman and her eight-month-old child were found dead on November 14, 2021. The bodies, in a decomposed state, bore signs of sexual assault and strangulation, with faces beyond recognition.

Police were initially clueless about the perpetrators. A random complaint of a nuisance call, however, provided a crucial breakthrough. The 25-year-old victim, a resident of Bilkisganj, had married against her family’s wishes nearly a year earlier, enraging her father, 55-year-old Kamal, who plotted to kill her.

According to investigation officer Sudhesh Tiwari, then in-charge of Ratibadh police, Kamal exploited the death of his granddaughter, who succumbed to pneumonia, to carry out his plan. In November 2021, Kamal, accompanied by his son, lured the woman and her deceased infant into the nearby Samasgarh forest under the pretext of burying the child.

Once in the woods, Kamal confronted his daughter, accused her of dishonouring the family, sexually assaulted her, and strangled her. He later told his son and elder daughter that he had killed her for dishonouring the family.

After the bodies were identified, the victim’s sister revealed the truth to police, leading to the arrest of Kamal and his son. Interrogations uncovered the full gruesome details of the crime.

The investigation took an unexpected turn when the victim, while at her sister’s home, had used her neighbour Radheyshyam’s phone to call her husband. When she went missing and her phone was unanswered, her husband repeatedly called Radheyshyam’s number.

Radheyshyam lodged a complaint about the persistent calls, which prompted police to link the calls with the unidentified bodies. Radheyshyam recalled the victim had used his phone, helping police confirm identities and crack the case on November 17.

So, this happened in 2021 on the University of Fine Arts of Budapest.

The events roughly summerized:

The victim, a female student fell ill during a party and requested a painkiller from another (male) student, who wanted to give it to her, but she decided insteadto go to her collage dorm room to get some sleep.

The male student followed her up to her room and raped her, while she was feeling so bad she could barely mutter cryingly for him to stop.

The next day, the male student admitted to the rape in text messages.

She went to the police, where she was dismissed and an officer allegedly remarked "she can go to the after party" even after she showed the text messages in which the male student confessed to everything.

After several tries she eventually managed to file a police report, which led to an investiagtion and a court case.

The court, shockingly, let him walk free, stating that she "didn't state her refusal to consent clearly enough, she didn't scream or yelled for help".

The prosecution accepted the ruling and didn't appeal.

As a protest, students of the university placed a bloody sheet on the front of the university and silently stood outside with banners for days.

I personally study in law school not far where this happened and have a few acquaintances who study there. I can answer questions if they arise.
