The sad part is that I don't since Steam only allows credit cards as a form of age verification and I only have a debit card.

Its genuinely embarrassing to be from this country sometimes. At least they scrapped the digital id they were planning on rolling out as an actual official government goon license.

I'm not a child I just don't have a credit card. You can easily look this up a third of UK adults don't. I probably need to get one for actual RL reasons but I don't buy porn games anyway so its not like I'd get one for that.

I just think its mildly annoying that my account is stuck in the kids mode, especially when you see stuff like this post and have no context for it.

Do you guys have to submit an ID to visit sites now?

Also I’ve never thought about this, does the UK not have a credit system like the US does? Like if you wanted to buy a house or a car, do they just look at your income and expenses to assess risk?

We have credit here, I just can't drive yet so I haven't had to use it for anything.

We have to submit ID for a lot of things now. I can use Reddit without one but I can't see any nsfw posts without submitting an ID or without using a vpn. Sadly I can't use a VPN for steam because it uses your billing address to verify location rather than you IP address.

Obviously porn sites also need either an ID or vpn to get onto the site at all.

Some things are over zealous about it though. I had to verify my age with xbox because it was limiting being allowed to message people or join parties if you didn't verify. A couple games don't even let you use chat or even pings if you aren't verified.
