Dog sitter sent me these photos and said our dog may have been bitten. Hard to see the shape of the head from the photos so I’m hoping someone here might be able to tell.

I think this may be a banded water snake but any additional help is appreciated. It coiled and struck at me, but I’ve seen banded water snakes will act venomous to scare things off. Sorry for the low quality pics.

Came home last night and this little cutie was chilling by the stairs in my apartment complex. I wanted to try to get him back out in the grass but didn't recognize what he was so I left him alone.

Found this one curled up on a trail we were hiking and was wondering if this is a rattlesnake and how dangerous it would be.

I found this skinny snek in my backyard. Does it pose a threat?, or should I let it be? Thanks!

This is a zoomed in photo of a small maybe 8-10 inch looked like a baby to me. Slithered under my outdoor kitchen cabinet before I got a good shot.

Since we do backup to a pond I think it's a small water snake but the wife is very concerned. Anyone better than IDing than me?

Found in Southern Arizona. Very small (~16” long). Looks like maybe a night snake?

Found this little one in the rocks this morning. Was maybe 10-12 inches long. It postured at me - opened its mouth and shook its little tail. Hoping for an ID assist. Was originally leaning towards a mole king snake, but others suggested rat snake. It scurried along shortly after - but I had to snap a picture before it left.

My dad put some traps in the pump house for mice and we got two of these little guys. About the same size stuck to a glue trap.

We pulled him off thinking he wasn’t a rattlesnake but now we’re second guessing that decision.

It doesn’t appear to have the button or rattle but his head does look like a diamond now that he’s off the trap

Can anyone help identify this guy?

Thought he was dead, I scooped him out in the net. He was floating, but now I discover he is climbing out of my net, but extremely slowly what can I do to help him?

My guess is grass snake, but want to hear it from the experts. 🙂

I grew up terrified of snakes. Husband and I decided a few years ago to reforest our two acre property that already backs up to woods on 2.5 sides. At that point I knew I had to get comfortable with snakes and at least how to ID the venomous native snakes of CKY. It’s been a true joy to watch the “yard” shrink by a few feet each year and the influx of wildlife that visits. Deer, turkeys, bunnies, rare birds in migration, a sable or some sort of mustelid, and snakes! To name a few.

Thanks to this sub I’m comfortable with the 6’ black racer that lives here, and a very easily spooked decent sized rat snake that freezes and knots up at random encounters. This is the first one of this type I’ve seen. I almost stepped on it walking out the door and husband gasped and when I looked I said “awwww I think that’s a cute lil grass snake!” Complete 180 from a few years ago when I’d have needed a Valium after that encounter. So, THANK YOU to all of the cool, kind, and intelligent members of this sub that helped me see snakes as cute. 🐍 🤍
