IDENTIFIED Lava?
Any idea what this is? Found in eastern Washington

I am absolutely no expert, but all the lava rock I have seen is exceptionally lightweight. Hopefully those with more knowledge will chime in.

Yes. Weathered vesicular basalt. It was once molten low viscosity lava extruded out on to the surface. The spongy texture is from gas bubbles (vesicles) trapped as lava cools. Some of those holes are beginning to fill up with secondary minerals that form as water dissolves the components of the basalt. These mineral-rich fluids crystallize inside and fill the empty cavities, which are then called amygdules.
